Three Months Married

Sneak Peak to the Sequel: Four Years Married

We plopped down on the couch just after getting Hazel and Teddy to bed. Tomorrow was her first day of preschool. It taken a little more energy to get them to bed. Both Harry and I sighed with relief because we knew our children were asleep.
"I can't believe Hazel will be going to school tomorrow." He put his head in his hands. I put a hand on his back trying to comfort him.
"Our little Hazel is growing up, but need I remind you of Teddy?" I chuckled as it had almost seemed Harry had forgotten about our second child, Theodore.
"I literally can't believe it though. It seriously feels like we were just taking the train up to my mom's to tell her."
"I know." I too couldn't believe it, but I had to.
"We were just taking her from the hospital like last week."
"We were just taking Teddy home like four months ago." I sighed.
"She was such a good girl, rarely cried at night, and she was so small." He kept gushing. Nothing like Teddy, I thought to myself. Teddy had kept us- me, up most of the first month and half of the second.
"I know." I said instead. "We should go get some sleep too, we've got to be up and you're coming with us to drop her off right?"
"Yep, I kind of want to do like a tradition thing, start a thing for all our kids. Maybe do a breakfast thing, or like a doughnut or muffin, or something."
"Yeah, that would be cute."
"It won't be cute, it will be-" Though he sounded dismayed he trailed off as he looked up the the clock I'd just gotten around to putting up while the three of them were playing one day. He instantly picked up his phone and dialed a number. "I promised my mum I'd call and talk to her tonight." He explained forgetting I was poking fun at his idea of a tradition to start with our off spring.
I went to get ready for a restful slumber while Harry spoke his worries to Anne while she gave him advice. She'd been helping us through it all. Since my parents are out of the picture we turned ot his mum for advice when nothing would soothe Hazel, or when Hazel would wake up screaming from a fever. We still called her daily about Theodore, because unlike Hazel, Teddy was a boy and we were used to having our girl. They did mostly the same things, but for some reason Teddy like to make everything a bit more complicated.
Anne had become the mother I lost when I was young. She always knew when something was up, even if I were just on the phone with her. From early on in my relationship with Harry I felt very close to her, I felt as though I could tell her anything. When I was nervous for a date with her son, that Harry and I saved having sex until we were married. I told her about all my past boy friends; all two of them. I told her about mu first kiss and I told her about how much her son meant to me.
Since Hazel, Harry and i had been keeping in better touch with her, to a point where I think she was tired of us. She insisted though that it was nice to be able to show us how to do this parental thing, give us tips and what not since she wasn't able to do that with the rest of Harry's life. She felt useful and important, and she was, unbelievable so.
Ten minutes later as I was pulling up the waist band of the shorts I had chosen to wear ot bed, Harry walked in.
"Let me just brush my teeth." He spoke quietly. I turned the ceiling light off and switched on the beside light, which was dimmer, and more comfortable to keep my eyes open. His shirt was off when he walked in, he threw it in the hamper and then proceeded to rid himself of his pants.
"How is Anne?"
"How many times do we both have to tell you to call her mum?" I gave him a tired smile.
"How is mum?"
"She's good." He got under the blankets with me. He moved close ot me, wrapping me in his arms. "She's just about as excited as about Hazel's first day of school." He chuckled. "She told us not to worry, that everything will be all right. She said it'd be hard to say goodbye for the whole three hours, and that we should treasure it,"
"You did send her our love right?"
"Always." He kissed my temple. I reached to switch off the light. I tugged tight onto his arm, giving it a small kiss before closing my eyes.
"I love you Harry."
"I love you too, sweetheart. Sleep tight."
"You too."
Harry and I had tried our best to make Hazel and Teddy as exhausted as we could in the effort to help them sleep soundly through out the night. Harry read her a story and then fell asleep promptly after the third page. While he read to her, I sat and fed and rocked Teddy to sleep.
Harry and I were feeling the effects of the day hitting us hard. Our eyes shut and we were out just as our daughter was.
