Forgive Your Past

I like it in the city when two worlds collide

"Hello?" He asked, having to plug one ear and block out the noise. The lads were so loud, jumping around like maniacs or gorillas waiting on lunch.

Boredom seemed to do that to them, waiting could make a man crazy and they had been waiting for almost an hour. Not that they minded, they had nothing else to do that day other than this interview.

When nobody answered him, Harry stood for a moment to wait. He had always thought it was silly, waiting when nobody seemed to be on the other end of a call.

"Hello?" He asked again, confused, unsure if he had actually gotten a response with all of the talking around him. Deciding only then to leave the room, he pulled the phone away from his ear and discretely stepped into the hallway. The silence hit him, both of the quiet hotel halls and the other end of the phone he quickly brought back up to his ear.

Furrowing his brows, something seemed to urge him. He checked the number, breath catching almost immediately. The name seemed to flash, big and bright, dinging like some slot machine spitting out its winnings.

"Kate?" He questioned into the phone, his stomach tightening with anticipation of hearing her voice.

It worked, quicker than he had expected actually. He was internally betting with himself, banking on at least two or three more texts and maybe a postcard. Even then he assumed she would only text him back so this phone call felt like magic.

He then heard the line go dead, checking the device to make sure he wasn't hallucinating.
