Chapter Fifty-Five

Brooke, Rose and I were laughing our heads off as we strolled down the streets of London. We were just acting like the idiots we were. No wonder we got along so well with the boys.

Brooke: Ok. It is time to find you a dress!
Rose: Yes! We will shop all day, even all week if we have to!
Me: Goodness! Doesn't that sound a bit extreme?
Brooke: Oh, honey, nothing is too extreme for your wedding!

I felt a bit apprehensive about dress shopping, but I knew the girls would help me make the right choice. We entered a small botique. A lady approached us with a smile that was too big for her face.

Lady: Hello, ladies! How may I help you?
Rose: We are here to look for a wedding dress.
Lady: Wonderful! Who is the beautiful bride-to-be?

I grinned shyly and slightly raised my hand instinctively.

Me: That would be me.
Lady: Hello my dear! My name is Kathy. And you are?
Me: Shay. This is Brooke and Rose. Nice to meet you.
Kathy: The pleasure is mine, ladies. So shall we get you set up with a consultant and a fitting room?
Me: Sure

She had me fill out a bit of paperwork before we walked back to a hall with 4 fitting rooms. A girl approached us and introduced herself as Marie. Kathy explained that she would be our consultant and would be helping me find dresses to try before disappearing back to the front of the botique.

Marie: So, Shay, you are getting married in 4 months?

As she asked questions she was scanning the papers I had just filled out.

Me: Yes ma'am.
Marie: And it is a beach wedding?
Me: Yes.
Marie: Great! So, what do you want to look like on your wedding day?
Me: I'm not entirely sure. Nothing too fancy.

We proceeded from there. Brooke and Rose showed her a few pictures of dresses that I had commented on when we were looking through magazines and after Marie had an idea of what I wanted, she left to get some dresses for me to try on.

She returned before too long with 4 different dresses in hand. I immediately dismissed 2 of them but agreed to try on the other two. One was a mermaid fit and the other was sheath. Neither one was what I wanted.

Rose: What do you think?
Me: I don't really fancy either one.

I said with my hands on my hips as I gazed in the mirror. I turned a bit, trying to see the buttons that ran down the back of the mermaid dress.

Rose: Well you look gorgeous, but I don't think that dress is very...you.
Me: I agree. Marie? I think I'm done.
Marie: Would you like me to pull something else for you?
Me: No I think I need a break from all this white fabric.

She nodded and helped me out of the dress. I returned to my regular clothes and we left the little shoppe. The girls and I went to grab a lunch at Nando's before going to another store. This time, the dress store was a larger, more well-known store, Alfred Angelo Bridal.

When the girls and I had been looking at magazines, some of my favorite designs had been from this place. We went through the same basic set up process as we did at the botique and before too long I was in a fitting room with a girl named Katie as my consultant.

Katie: So do you have any dresses in mind?
Me: Well actually I saw your Disney collection in a magazine.
Katie: Yes! Which dress would you like to try first?
Me: Well I was thinking about the original Jasmine dress.
Katie: Wonderful! I'll go get it.

Aladdin is my all-time favorite Disney movie and Jasmine is my favorite princess by far.

Soon Katie returned with the dress. It was gorgeous! Better than I had imagined!

I slipped the dress on and then left the dressing room to look in the mirror with Rose and Brooke. When I stepped out, they both gasped.

Rose: Shay, this is perfect.

I nodded excitedly.

Me: I think this might be the one.
Brooke: Might be? Honey, its definitely the one.

I smiled into the mirror. I loved the way the fabric felt along my body. The beaded straps drew the focus up to my neckline while the rest of the white fabric fell perfectly over my curves. Rose is right. It is the perfect dress.

Me: You two are right. This is definitely the dress.

I said, so excited about being one step closer to marrying the man of my dreams.
