I threw my last pair of shoes into the bag. Done! I looked around happily. I couldn't wait to get on the plane and get to Ireland! This was going to be the best summer ever! I looked at my phone sitting on the charger. It was flashing green (a new message). I opened it.
Niall: Can't wait to see you! Text me when you land. I will be waiting to pick you up
I smiled. I couldn't wait to see him either. We talked all the time and even though I haven't seen him in 5 years I feel like he is like my brother. I replied.
Me: Can't wait to see you either! I will :) see you soon!
I laid my phone back on my dresser and went to fix my hair. After I put on mascara I heard my mom yelling.
Mom: Shay, honey? Are you ready? We need to go!
Me: Yes mom!
I grabbed my bag and hurdled down the stairs. I gazed out the window as we drove, imagining what was in store for this summer. My mom interrupted my thoughts.
Mom: Did you remember your camera and charger?
Me: Yes
She kept asking me about things that I had already packed until we arrived. I pulled my luggage out of the trunk and looked at my mom.
Me: Don't cry. I'm only going to be gone for the summer.
Mom: I know, I know. I'm just going to miss you.
We hugged and then I heard a voice over the intercom saying that my plane was boarding.
Me: Bye mom! Love you! Tell dad and Austin I miss them already. (Austin is my little brother)
Mom: Bye sweetie!
I ran in and before too long I was through security and walking onto the plane. 32B, 32B I kept repeating to myself as I looked for my seat. I glanced down the aisle at the numbers on each row and found my seat. I turned to put my bag in the overhead bin as I talked to the person I would be sitting next to for the long flight.
Me: Hi. Can I get in?
I looked up after I finished talking to see an extremely cute boy looking at me and smiling.
Boy: Sure! Hi, I'm Daniel.
Me: I'm Shay.
I slipped in all awkwardly after shaking his hand and we began talking. Before I knew it we were landing in Ireland. He was headed to see family in Germany so this was just a stop along the road for him. I said goodbye as I exited the plane, wishing that we were going to the same place. I texted Niall while I waited for my luggage. After I got it, I left the security checkpoint and saw Niall across the room. I hurried over to him with my luggage and he swept me into a big hug.
Niall: Shay? How was the flight?
Shay: It was great! I can't believe I'm actually here!
We talked for a long time as we got in his car and he drove us to his house. He had told me all about his band in his emails and I couldn’t wait to meet the other boys and hear them sing for the first time. Niall started warning me about the guys and telling me that they were all ladies men and not to listen to them, just like a brother would. I laughed it off. We pulled into his house and I said hi to his parents again. It was like meeting old friends. All of a sudden, 4 boys came out of the house all talking at once. They were all cute! One by one they introduced themselves with big cheeky smiles. When I shook hands with Liam I felt like we held each other's stares for a moment, like there was something special, but as soon as it had happened, it was over and I wasn't sure if it had really happened or if I had merely imagined it. Harry spoke up rather quickly.
Harry: So which song of ours is your favorite?
Me: Actually I haven't heard you guys sing together yet.
He looked like I had just shown him an alien.
Harry: What?
Me: Well Niall hasn't sent me anything and your music isn't for sale in America.
Niall started to explain and then all of them got to arguing about something. They were all so cute and I am a sucker for accents, especially British. This was going to be a GREAT summer!
