The Devil Inside

I wake up in a cold sweat, my breathing heavy and uneven, my hands shaking uncontrollably and the air around me thick and musky. I run my hand through my now damp curls and throw the heavy duvet off of me. Waking from the occuring nightmare that has haunted me for years, is just a normal part of my day.

I roll out of bed and pad my feet across the cold dark wooded floor. I decide that a hot shower will soothe my muscles. I cross my room and head straight into my bathroom.

I turn on the steaming water and strip from my boxers. I step into the shower and just stand there, letting the water drip down my face causing my curls to stick to my face and hot water pelt everywhere on my body.

I step out shortly after cleansing and rinsing my body, and get ready for another day of Hell. Fucking fantastic. I dress in a black button-up with faint white polka dots and a black blazer.
I slide on my black skinny jeans and my favorite ankle boots.

I grab my phone and keys and jog down the stairs. I yank the door handle and shut it behind me.

I open the door to my black range rover and slam it after I get in. I put the key in the ignition and start the car enjoying the sound of her purr. I smirk to myself and pull out of the drive way.

I speed down the vacant road and keep going until I approach the familiar building filled with people by now. I stop the car and just sit there for a while before the sound of screeching tires fill my ears. I turn around in my seat but not fast enough.

I was killed on impact that day, but before I died, the picture I had of her sitting under my tree in my secret place, her long dark brown hair cascading down her back and shoulders sits on my lap and I smile. Maybe now we can be together once again...
