Love In Lights

We Forget Who We Are

The boys are back in LA this week after their long stint spent in Australia, touring and promoting they’ve finally come back to America. It’s not clear how long they boys will be here; rumours are said that the boys may be recording some new material. Honestly we’re just glad that we get that we’re at least on the same continent as the boys again.
In other news Purity has been reported wrapping up the end of their film for ‘Here Standing’ the girls have been working on this video a long time and we can’t wait to see what it will be. If it stays true to the whole album we expect touching family scenes and possible tears! April 2016

“And that was the latest from Rihanna hitting Number 2 in the charts this week. Now sitting here with me is two girls of the five-piece band that is currently holding out our number one spot. I have Annabelle and Lucinda from Purity with me today.” The radio host chimed in easily once the song was over and I shifted forward in my seat, edging towards the mic in front of me. “How have you girls both been? Enjoying America?”

“Good, and America’s great.” I popped in.

“LA is always great.” Lucinda chimed after me, both of us flashing smiles at the cameras that were in the booth with us.

“Aw, come on that’s what everyone says, tell use what you really think.” I glanced towards Lucinda who shrugged.

“Well neither of us are from here so everything is kind of a novelty, your food, your accent and ever your money is a novelty for me.” I admitted.

“Our money is a novelty?” The host enquired, his face pulled into a curious look.

“Yeah I don’t know if you’re aware but your money is green and it’s seriously confusing. Like my country has colours, like pink, red, blue, yellow and they stand out, but your money I actually need to put into separate compartments in my wallet so I can find it quicker.” I spoke into the microphone, Lucinda laughing from next to me.

“The first time we were here Annabelle tried to buy something, what was it? Food or something right? Anyway she got so frustrated that she actually threw her whole wallet at Frankie and demanded that she pay.” I shrugged sheepishly. “She is honestly bad at working out anyone’s money but her own.”

“I’m probably going to eventually just stick to using a key card.” I laughed.

“So Annabelle is certainly going to be backing money change for America, we need colour people.” I laughed at the host and nodded persistently.

“Yes please!”

“So there are rumours that you girls are filming your video here in LA for Here Standing which is Number One in the charts. Is that true?”

“Yeah we are filming here, at a beach, a beach that I can’t tell you all about it but it is a beach and we will be going to film more of that when we finish up here.” Lucinda informed everyone.

“Well can’t get angry at that level of secrecy hey management? While we have the girls in the booth we will be accepting calls from three lucky listeners who will also win signed CD’s from the five girls of Purity. The girls will answer your question after we play their Number One hit. Then the boys of One Direction will join us. We certainly have a star-studded guest list today. Here is “Here Standing”.” I gaped at the radio host for a minute before turning to stare at Lucinda, the flash for Mic on flipped off and I turned back to the host.

“One Direction is here?” I asked slightly panicked. “All of them?”

“No just two of them. Louis and Harry.” I meeped frightened to see Louis. I hadn’t seen him since the airport incident over a month ago. “Didn’t anyone tell you girls?”

I shook my head and prepared an angry argument to Jen once we were finished. She would have known and decided not to tell us. I wasn’t impressed.

“It’s okay, you’re okay. We probably won’t even see them.” Lucinda murmured to me quietly, her hand rubbing my back and I tried to match my breathing to her. I wasn’t prepared for Louis I didn’t even know how to be prepared for Louis. I had told the girls about my conversation at the café with Liam and Niall but I hadn’t made any more moves, I didn’t know how too.

“Girls we’re going to be back on in thirty seconds. Are you going to be okay?” The radio host seemed worried but I assured him with the fakest grin I could muster, clinging to Lucinda’s hand.

“And that was “Here Standing” by international girl band Purity, two of whom are sitting with me right now. Now I believe we have some callers for both Annabelle and Lucinda so let’s get right on that. Hello?”

“Oh My God, Hi!” A young girls voice sounded through the phone, high pitched and breathy.

“What’s your name?” Lucinda asked and the girl replied with Selene.

“My question for you both is if you have any daily traditions that you would do together as a band on tour and if so what is your favourite?” It was a different type of question, we were ususally asked if we were single or who our favourite celebrity was but nevertheless the look I shared with Lucinda said that we both knew the perfect answer.

“3am pancakes.” We both said into our respective microphones, smiles on our faces.

“3am pancakes? That’s a tradition? Care to elaborate?” The radio host asked us. I shrugged. It was easy enough.

“Basically it started not long after we first started touring, we had a few nights off and none of us could sleep. Our bodies were exhausted but were so prone to staying up late and performing that none of us could sleep so we had pancakes at three in the morning.”

“It then kind of escalated from there.” Lucinda added on to my explanation. “Whenever one of us was having a horrible time, couldn’t sleep or was nervous we all would get up and make pancakes. Never underestimate the power of good homemade pancakes.”

“Especially when you’re delirious and on three days of sleep deprivation.” I teased before we moved to the next caller. Another young girl.

“I was wandering since you girls live so close together when travelling do you fight often?” Lucinda piped up to answer this one first.

“Of course, not all the time but a fair amount. When we were on tour we were probably blissfully okay for what a month?” Lucinda turned to me and I snorted.

“I think that might be a bit generous.” I put in, Lucinda grinning in return.

“True, anyway the fights are usually small and over quickly, someone being messy, taking someone clothes or make up or shoes. Sometimes we just pick fights with each other and other times it blows up bad and we won’t talk to each other but we’re always good in the end. I actually think we’re better after a big fight, everything fits better.”

The last caller was a male this time and of course we should have saw this question coming the whole time.

“Are either of you girls available? Or anyone else in the band?” He asked with hope in his voice. I laughed and Lucinda shook her head.

“Nope, sorry I am perfectly and happily taken.” A pleased smile broke across her face. “Belle here is free though, completely unattached.” I widened my eyes at Lucinda before narrowing them at her in a glare.

“Well isn’t that a treat! How about you leave your number and we’ll be sure to pass it on to Annabelle.” The radio host continued with the teasing and I turned my glare onto him.

“Annabelle is practically vibrating with anticipation.” He deadpanned, a laugh coming from Lucinda in response. “Well that’s all the we have time for, it was great to have both of you girls in here, I hope you had fun and that you’ll come back soon.” We said our goodbyes and began to move out of our chairs, a lady showing us which door to use to get out of the booth, Jen was waiting for us on a long black lounge; her white skirt and coral top a stark contrast. Her heels tapped elegantly against the floor, long manicured nails tapping in rhythm as she stared intently at her Ipad.

She wasn’t the only people on the lounge though; my attention was drawn to the two boys sprawled not far from her. Louis had his face buried into the armrest, his chest slowly rising and falling. Harry was sitting up next to him, his eyes slowly opening and closing before he shifted to shove Louis’ foot of his lap. The older boy didn’t respond.

“Just a minute girls.” Jen said without even looking up at us, I shifted awkwardly while Lucinda walked over to both boys, not a worry on her shoulders. Sighing I followed her, my eyes not leaving Louis’ relaxed form. Lucinda sat on the coffee table across from them while I fell down onto the couch next to Harry. It was surprisingly soft, the type of couch that sucked your bottom down and made you want to never leave.

“You look horrible.” I told Harry, his head rolled to the side to stare at me through bloodshot eyes. I grinned in response.

“We had a concert last night, we went out late afterwards. S’mistake.” He mumbled to me, his voice was hoarse from singing last night and his breath smelled like bacon. I laughed and patted his head fondly. It was at this point that Louis made a particular loud snort that seemed to make him jolt. His whole body springing upwards, his eyes moving wildly around the room before groaning and lurching forward into Harry’s body. My fingers ached to reach and touch his puffy hair, it looked natural and fluffy without any product and I wanted to, so badly, to press that little comfort into his skin. But I didn’t dare, even in Louis’ state I don’t think he would appreciate it.

“How did your interview go?” Harry asked, his eyes weren’t falling closed anymore, seeming more awake.

“Good, same as all the others.” Lucinda replied, Louis snorted into Harry’s shirt before sitting up and blinking owlishly around at everyone. His eyes settled on me and I steeled myself to look back, taking in my filll of his dark tired eyes, the paleness of his skin from being out all night, and the stubble littered across his jawline that had probably been growing for a couple of days. If Harry wasn’t between us I couldn’t guarantee that I wouldn’t try to run my fingers through his hair and over his cheekbones to lightly trace the curves of his mouth.

Louis turned away first, Harry shifted awkwardly in between us and I let out an audible sigh, my head resting on the back of the couch and I wished not for the first time today that things had gone differently.

“I’m going to use the bathroom.” Louis mumbled, I didn’t look over but I heard his feet hit the ground, I still didn’t look away from the ceiling until Harry nudged me in the ribs.

“Liam and Niall told me what they told you in Australia.”

“And what they didn’t tell Zayn as well?” I snarked back, irrationally annoyed that they talked about me.

“Zayn doesn’t like you.” Harry snapped back, I rolled my eyes but took the hit. I deserved that one. “Look I was just going to say that I think you should go for it as well.” I looked at Harry in complete disbelief. Lucinda moved and sat down on the couch next to me, her hand intertwining with mine, keeping me grounded.

“I’m not saying this for you or because I think you need him. I’m saying this because he misses you and he was happy with you the type of happy he hasn’t been since. So, so if you feel that way for him then you should go be with him.”

“I don’t even know where to start.” I replied to Harry after a short pause where I tried to even understand the idea that he was placing in me.

“Talking is a good one, like right now, go talk.” Harry poked and nudged until I finally stood up, grouching at him.

“Where are you going? The car will be here any minute?” Jen whipped her head to all three of us. I froze for a second before stuttering out a reply.

“Just the toilet, I’ll be quick.” She dismissed with a wave of her hand, her eyes already glued back to the Ipad. I hurried of in search of the toilets instead I found what I was actually looking for.

“Louis! Hey, hi.” I stumbled and blushed darky when I stopped in front of Louis, his face was expressionless but a small quirk of his lip led me to almost believe he found me funny or that he was at least laughing at me.

“Hi.” He responded simply, a question almost hanging in the air asking me what the hell did I want.

“So I never really thanked you for the airport thing.” I was surprised at where I had taken this. No one had talked about the airport moment again. No one had even asked us in interviews, I had the feeling everyone was banned from it.

“It’s okay, it was nothing.” Louis said dismissively and I made a noise in protest.

“No it wasn’t. I’ve seen the footage Lou, you pushed through a crowd of scary, screaming girls to get to me.” I persisted and watched. Louis was the one that began to flush. “Look I was wondering if maybe you would want to have lunch or go out somewhere and…”

“Annabelle.” Louis cut off his voice strained, his eyes staring past my shoulder.

“Louis.” I mimicked back, my eyes hard and unmoving from his face.

“I can’t.” He responded, his eyes moving to stare into mine and I wished that I was an expert and I could tell what they meant, that I could stare into them and see that he still loved me or that he hated me with no chance of forgiveness. I ached to know just something little.

“I’m trying okay, if you just let me I can do this better.” I pleaded with him, my lips turning into a frown. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair.

“I have to go.” He finally mumbled and I opened my mouth to protest but he beat me to it. “Look we can talk okay, we can talk or whatever but not right now, I have things to do and I just can’t right now.” I nodded instantly, taking what I could get. Louis replied with one short nod before moving past, his body not touching one inch of mine and my left hand ached, my forefinger jerking uncontrollably as if to touch him but he was already gone.

There was laughter coming from the kitchen, I looked back at Lucinda in shock while she quietly shut the front door behind her. That was Kate’s laugh. Kate hadn’t laughed that loudly in a long time.

I hurried forward out of the foyer and into the living room, the kitchen sat just behind it in a wide-open floor plan style. I froze and Frankie met my eyes, her and Gracie has been sitting staring at Kate who continued to laugh, her pale hands clutching onto the counter tightly, her body shaking with laughter.

Liam was standing on the other side of the counter to her, a ridiculous chef hat and apron that said ‘Kiss the Cook’ he was whisking something in a bowl and making large hand motions, a heavy Italian accent. We had been trying for so long, so long to get her to laugh or react or do something and here’s Liam, always Liam, who just waltzes in and takes over. Makes her talk and laugh and be her old self. He saves her from herself, brings her out of the dark empty void she’s created, when the rest of us can barely keep her alive.

Liam’s eyes moved from Kate’s finding me and stilled. I didn’t know what he saw on my face: jealousy, anger, contempt, gratitude? I spun on my heel, ignored Lucinda’s call and marched right back out of the apartment.

It wasn’t until I got outside could I take a large breath, the fresh air feeling like sweet relief to my cramped lungs. I stared around wildly and leant back against the buildings wall while breathing. Just slowly and surely breathing, Kate’s laugh ringing through my ears.

Notes

So Sorry guys but I've just been exhausted lately from a lot of stuff going on (mainly Uni) and I suck at writing when I'm tired so this took way longer! Hope you enjoyed it though, a bit of talk between Louis and possible hope for the future!

Also I should let you all know that I've started a new story called Study of Life and Love and it will be my last story that I start on here. I'm going to start focusing more on my original writing so once this story is done and this new one then that will be all. So I hope you all give it a chance and tell me what you think! (I would link it but this site hasn't been letting me do that lately! :(

xx

Comments

please please update this soon.

AHHH! Felicity is making me crazy, but Aaron and Lucinda do have a point she needs to stand her ground! Also Charlotte was so cute getting nervous like that!

Anyway thanks for another great chapter! I hope you are still doing well and enjoying a nice Australian summer! :)

@ohboybands
Hey that's okay! It's been taking me ages to update lately so we are pretty even! hehe. I'm sad about it ending too but it will be in only a few more chapters and I'm excited for you guys to see the resolution.
Aww I hope you are having an amazing time in London. I certainly loved it but I did miss home a little bit. Especially beaches and constant sun, I really missed the beaches tho (I spend half my life there) haha.

Sorry it took so long to comment. I literally just re-read the whole thing and I still love it as much as I did the first time, if not more! I'm sad to think about it ending, but I knew it was soon! Hopefully Belle will finally be able to confess her love to Louis by the end! Anyway I'm glad you enjoyed Europe! I just moved to London and am in love with it that I don't know how you could of left! Also I'm so glad you're actually trying to tie up all the loose ends, because I hate when stories just end.
P.S. Sorry my comments were so random it's 6AM in London and I've been sick -- so like no sleep these past two days.

Annabelle's story is one of the first that drew me repeatedly to this site. You paint her struggles as authentic and the comfort as conceivable. Your Louis is quite the tragic hero and I love reading him. Cheers and happy writing :)
