Diana

You Don't Even Know Me

It is almost three in the morning by the time they get to Diana’s flat. He reaches into her purse, takes the key, and unlocks the front door. With both arms holding Diana’s body, he turns and closes the door with a push from his back. With no time to waste, he takes her up to her bedroom and lays her down. He slowly pulls her shoes off and puts them aside.

Her hair covers her face, and her arms are all over the place. He lays his eyes on her as he starts to climb up the bed. He brushes her hair off gently, and begins kissing her around the neck. He plants soft little pecks from the bottom of her jaw line up to the back of her ear, as she lets out a quiet moan. She takes a grip of his face and pulls it closer, so her sultry lips can meet his. He can tell that she has been longing for this for a while by the way she passionately bites his lower lip.

He breaks the kiss and rests his forehead against hers, as he unbuttons his leather jacket and takes it off. She quickly takes over by pulling off his t-shirt, revealing his toned muscular body. Her nails run through his back like she means it; they both know that it’s going to leave some marks later on, but they just don’t care. Just when he tries to unbutton her shorts, the bedroom door flies open.

“Diana! What the fu—“

“Shit!” She reflexly pushes him off her body.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing, Jace? Shagging up a drunk chick? Seriously? I never thought you were this low.”

“Fuck off, Sadie, it’s none of your business.”

“Like hell it’s not! Get out, Jace.”

“But Sade, Jace and I were just—“ Diana doesn’t even know what she’s saying.

“Get. The fuck. Out,” tells Sadie to Jace firmly.

He grabs his tops angrily while throwing a piercing look at her. The bedroom door slams behind him.

“You okay, love?”

“Yeah, yeah. Leave me alone, I’ll might as well sleep after you kick my toy out,” Diana says as she buries her face into the pillow.

Sadie says nothing in return; she just pulls the blanket up to Diana’s chest. She goes out of the room and returns not long after that, bringing a glass of water and a couple of aspirins. She knows Diana is going to need it in the morning.

--

The bright ray of sun bursts into the room through the slight opening of the curtain and wakes her up. She squints to window, trying to figure out what time is it. Not able to resist the brightness, she snatches her sunglasses by the bedside table and puts it on. She fixes her hair with her fingers, not that it makes any difference, and goes to the bathroom to change. After quickly brushing her teeth and wiping last night’s makeup, she changes out of her outfit and into a comfortable oversized sweatshirt with no pants. Then, she notices the aspirin and the water beside her bed. That girl is the best.

While drinking her water, she goes downstairs to see her roommate already sitting cozily on the couch, watching The Breakfast Club on DVD.

“Sure, tonight would be great. See you later,” Sadie says before she hangs her phone up, and looks at her scruffy roommate, “Hey.”

“My head is pounding, Sade.”

Sadie laughs, “No shit, you were legless last night.”

Diana joins Sadie on the couch, “Thanks for the aspirin, by the way. What time is it?”

“It’s almost one, stupid. You want some coffee?”

“Ugh, I slept way too long. But sure, that’d be super,” Diana says while she lightly massages her head. “So did you actually kick Jace out last night, or was I dreaming?”

Her roommate gets on her feet and heads to the kitchen. “Yeah, I did. Obviously you weren’t conscious enough to know what was happening.”

Diana takes her sunglasses off and puts it aside. “Seems like it. I guess I just enjoyed playing around with him again. He never takes anything too seriously.”

“I get it… I think. But why stick with him? You were practically hammered and yet he still tried to get into your pants. That sounds a little desperate to me,” remarks Sadie as she hands the coffee cup to Diana.

“Meh, I don’t really care about that. I don’t even care if he’s an ass. I told you about this before; no strings attached. He just happens to always be around whenever I wanna… you know, play. He’s a fit lad.” The sun is radiant and the weather is as perfect as it can be; those two things and the cup of coffee are just what she needs to help her get through the hangover.

Sadie sits back down next to her. “Well… I trust you.” She knows that there’s nothing she can say that will change that girl’s mind.

“Enough about me. Where were you last night? I didn’t see you one bit,” says Diana while she enjoys her drink.

“I was… umm…” It is obvious that Sadie is trying to avoid eye-contact.

“Were you with a guy? You were, weren’t you?! You little minx!” Diana excitedly asks as she turns her body to face Sadie. She has to put the cup down before she does anything spontaneous and makes a big mess in her living room.

“I was with Niall.”

“…Niall who?”

There is a short silence in the room before Diana asks again. “Niall who, Sade?”

“Niall Horan.”

“From One Direction? Are you kidding me?!” Diana subconsciously hits the couch hard.

“Okay before you say anything, he was not bad! He was actually really nice to talk to and we got along pretty well.”

Diana rolls her eyes. “Yeah, well, I’m sure there was very little talking involved for you to say that.”

“I’m serious! He was a decent lad. Why are you being so prejudice against them? I’m not one of their biggest fans either but at least I’m not placing biased judgments.”

“I don’t know, really. Everything they do, the way they look, the way they present themselves on the media—they all seem like a series of acts to me. Okay, some of their music ain’t that bad, but I’m not sure. It seems like they only exist to reinforce the possibility of love and fairytales, through their overly sugar-coated lyrics and gelled hairs.” Diana stops talking to get her pack of cigarettes. She pulls one out and lights it up.

“You can’t really judge them based on those things alone, though. Those are just the images that they present on TV; you don’t know how they are in person,” Sadie shrugs.

“Yeah, but you do,” Diana nudges her arm flirtatiously, “tell me about it.”

“There’s nothing much to tell, really.”

“Oh come on, Sade… Don’t spare any details.”

Sadie adjusts her seat and pauses the movie. “Well, as you know, when we got there, I went straight ahead to the dancefloor. I was instantly enjoying my time, you know, dancing around with a couple of guys, before a pair of eyes caught me.”

“Ooo… romantic,” says Diana mockingly, not realizing that Harry did exactly the same thing to her that same night.

“In the dark, I didn’t really recognize who he was because I couldn’t really see him, but I waved to tell him to come over anyway, and thank God he did.” Both of the girls laugh. “He came over to dance with me, and all of the sudden he started to pull off some Irish shit in front of me. It was hilariously charming, I couldn’t help myself.”

“Did you screw him?”

“Di! Of course not! I’m not you,” denies Sadie as she smacks her in the head with a cushion.

“You’re such an angel. Well, you should have. Who knows what you can get from him, he’s minted!”

“Hey! I actually liked him, okay. I’m not going to ruin that by screwing him on the first night! I may have snogged him a few times last night, but I had my pants on the whole time. Geez Di, tone down that hatred. I still don’t get why you despise them so much.”

“I just don’t trust them, that’s all. Niall seems to be okay, though. I always knew he’s the most decent out of them all.”

“What about the curly one? I heard he’s got his hands on you last night,” asks Sadie teasingly.

“Don’t even get me started on that one. He dates more girls in a month than I do my laundry. And no, he didn’t! I just ran into him again but that’s it. You’re the one to blame! How could you not tell me that it was his party?!” Before she knows it, Diana already raises her voice.

Sadie replies, “If I did, you wouldn’t have agreed to come.”

“Of course, I wouldn’t!” When she realizes that her speaking tone is high, Diana lowers it down, “Why the hell would I—“

“Well, he told me he took care of you when you were drunk. You know, before Jace shows up.”

“He did what?!” Did I hear her right? Diana thinks.

Sadie is quite surprised to get that kind of reaction from her. “Yeah, he said he helped you out after you danced on the bar top, you almost fell arse over tits if he wasn’t there. You really don’t remember?”

“No, the only thing that I’m sure actually happened was Jace carrying me up the stairs here.”

“Goodness, Di. You see, if only you were aware, you would see how the lads are actually proper human beings.”

“Oh spare me,” Diana throws herself against the couch, “If anything, it was a mere coincidence.”

“Coincidence or not, he was being the gentleman, not Jace.”

“What can I say, I don’t need a gentleman, I just want to have fun,” says Diana as she scrunches her nose, along with a smirk.

“Whatever you say, princess,” replies Sadie with a mocking curtsy. Diana pinches her on the arm as a return.

“At least I’ll never have to see him again,” Diana sighs.

“Well…” Sadie hesitantly looks away.

“I won’t, will I, Sade?” Diana sits back up and turns her head to her.

“Okay, but you can’t completely detach yourself from them because I’m seeing Niall, so you really don’t have much choice.”

“I can handle Niall, I guess.”

“Good then, because he’s coming over later on tonight.”

Diana detects a slight sign of relief in Sadie’s voice, but something tells her it doesn’t stop there. “Just him, right?”

“With a couple of his mates,” she says so slowly, it can barely be heard.
