I walked down my cobble stone side walk heading home in the company of Sophia after one more agonizing day of school. I was glad this was my senior year so once June 30th hits I’m out of there. I’m a free girl. I always dreamed of moving out, going to college, maybe even traveling a bit.God, June 30th can’t come rapidly enough.

“You know prom is approaching” Sophia stated before taking a mouthful of her water.

“Yeah, about that…I may not go…When is it anyways?” I asked as I adjusted the left strap of my backpack that rested upon my shoulder.

I could hear Sophia gasp in shock, she is so melodramatic. “You have to go to prom” She began, “Its prom. The one night that you will learn by heart forever and will create memories… and its on June 21”

“I don’t even have a date… And I doubt that anyone would ask me” I said as I kicked a rock in front of me, sending it into the grass.

I could tell that Sophia rolled her eyes at my comment “Someone will ask you… trust me” She guaranteed.

“Who are you going with?...” I questioned Sophia before facing her with a curious look.

“Well… I had two guys in mind, But now I only have one” She told me.

“And who is this lucky winner?” I joked.

“Tanner…” She quietly said, hoping I didn’t hear her, but to no avail.

“Aww, That’s so cute!” I said, letting my inner girl take over “You guys would be so adorable.”

I looked at Sophia who was now turning every shade of red physically possible before she said “Shut up..” trying to be defensive but she ended up letting out a slight giggle.

“Who was the second guy?”

“Harry, But you know… Just liked Tanner more” She said as she messed with her fingers, like she always does when she was nervous or lying. I quickly nodded my head, understating.

We walked past a couple more houses before reaching mine. “Who is that?...” Sophia questioned as she pointed to a black car that was parked on my drive way.

I then took a closer look, noticing someone leaning on the side of it with his back facing us. I automatically knew who it was, he was wearing his signature leather jacket. “Its Conner…” I spoke.

“I thought he was in jail?...” Sophia said.

“Well apparently he is out.. I don’t think he even went to jail in the first place…” I told her.

“Hey… I’ll.. I’ll meet you inside. Okay? You guys need time to talk” Sophia said before walking into my house. I wanted to ask her what we had to talk about but she already closed the front door behind her.

Conner then turned around from the sound of the door shutting and faced me. A gentle smile then appeared on his face once his eyes met mine “Jailbait” He grinned as he walked closer to me.

“Hey. Conner uhm… What are you doing here?” I asked him before he took me in for a hug and kissed the top of my head

“I came to see my baby” He smiled, as he let me out of his grasp a bit and looked down at me “Why… is that wrong?”

‘Your baby???’ I wanted to asked him but all I said was “No.. not wrong at all” with a fake smile.

“Good, good…” Conner mumbled before drifting off, we stood then for a moment before he spoke again “ Oh and I also…” He said as he pulled something from the inside of his jacket pocket “Wanted to give you this” He finished before he revealed a small pink box that had a ribbon running across it.

“What is this for?” I asked as I slowly took the box from his grasp and began to open it. I never really liked opening gifts in front of people, them waiting and hoping for my approval.

“You know… Just an I’m Sorry gift for what happened Saturday night…” He told me as I lifted the lid fully off of the box to expose a silver ring inside that had an infinity sign on the front. “I know it’s not much… But Yeah” He said as he rubbed the back of his neck, waiting for me to react.

I then smiled before looking away from the ring and then up at him “Thank you, But you didn’t have to” I told him

“I know, but I wanted to…” He smiled down at me.

“I love it.. Thanks again” I said before taking him in for a hug, he stumbled in surprise at my response at hugging him, and I was too… I wasn’t really a 'hugger'.

“No problem, Babe” He said into the crease of my neck before I pulled away “Well… I should probably get going…” He said as he took a step back.

I nodded my head “Yeah.. Sophia is inside… She is probably looking through a window right now, watching us” I laughed

Conner let out a deep chuckle before looking towards my house then back at me “I knew I felt someone watching me” He joked “Well, I’ll see you later, Delilah”

“Hey, You didn’t call me Jailbait this time…” I pointed out.

It was then his turn to nod before he spoke “Yeah.. Hey, do you want to get dinner tomorrow night, Yeah I know it’s a school night and all but ill have you back by 10…” He said as he shuffled his feet.

I then waited before answering. Should I go with him? I mean, He is sweet and he got me this ring… So maybe he isn’t a bad boy like everyone says. Or does he do this to all his ‘jailbait’, But I then decided that I would give him one last chance “Yeah…Sure. I would like that” I smiled.

“So, It’s a date then” He said but it seemed more like a question.

“Yep, It’s a date…” I said before looking down at my shoes. “I’ll see you then” I finished

He quickly nodded in reply before flashing me a smile and getting back into his car ‘See you then” He said through his half way rolled down window before backing out of my drive way…
