Dj Danger

12:51

Taking a deep breath, I answered the unexpected call.

"Hey." His voice sounded deeper on the phone.

My mouth became dry. No words had come out from me. I was dumbfounded, so to speak. His ragged breathing could be heard. The noise I could hear from the other end of the line was slowly disappearing. Was he at the club?

"Hey. Still there?" I snapped back and realized I still haven't said a word.

"Mm." I hummed in reply, my voice soft.

Harry chuckled. "The longest reply I've ever heard."

What else was I supposed to say? I was lost for words as his chuckle swallowed me in a slight intimidation, an evident feeling I've felt the first time I met Harry.

Harry broke the silence.

"Sorry, was I disturbing you?" He said, initiating to start the conversation for the second time. I was a coward. Harry was the one who always started our conversations.

"N-no. " I manage to blurt out. Wait, what if I'm disturbing him? Jesus, Bree, you're so inconsiderate.

"Am I disturbing you?" I added. No. He was the one who called. Argh. I. Am. So. Stupid. Then again, what if he was just forced to call because I texted him? My thoughts were all over the place.

"Not at all. I was actually heading out from the club for a break." He said.

"Oh." I felt relieved. Seeing Harry, he'd look like a busy man and he'd probably have more important things to do than to call me. Okay, so none of us were disturbing each other. Good.

"Thought you'd never notice." Harry laughed a bit, his tone sarcastic.

"Yeah. If I haven't fallen off from my bed then I wouldn't have seen that small paper." I said.

Harry laughed again, the feeling of intimidation slowly disappearing. "What?"

"Yeah. I'm such a klutz." I admitted, giggling a bit.

"Well, if it weren't for your clumsiness we wouldn't be talking to each other right now, would we?" He said. I could tell he was smirking.

Have I ever told you
How good it feels to hold you
It isn't easy to explain

And though I'm really tryin'
I think I may start cryin'
My heart can't wait an other day

"Oh my god. Is that..?" I said as I heard a familiar song in the background.

"The Ramones?" Harry continued.

"I knew it! I love that song. And The Ramones, too." I said. This was mum's favorite song, I reckon she'd always play this when we rode the car together. That was, when she was still alive. I got carried away and started to become nostalgic at the thought of my mum.

"So.. tea, sweets, and The Ramones." I heard Harry murmur.

"What?" I asked.

"That's three things in common." He said.

"Y-you love The Ramones, too?" I asked, confirming.

"Yeah. They're music is sick." Harry said. "In a good way, I mean." He added and laughed. "People always tell me I've got bad taste in music."

Oh. So he loved them, too.

"That makes the two of us then." I laughed. "I get that a lot, too."

"Really? Glad I'm not the only one." He chuckled.

Finally. Someone who understands my taste in music.

"Baby, I love you
Come on baby
Baby, I love you
Baby I love, I love only you

I can't live without you
I love everything about you
I can't help it if I feel this way," Harry sung along with the music.

He sounded so good. It was as if he owned it.

"You sing, too? You're really good." I said, my voice ascending as I was astonished by his unique singing voice.

"Yeah. I'm a frustrated singer." He laughed. "'Bout you?"

"Me? Hell no. I can't sing." I admitted. "It's only 3 things in common, don't force it." I joked.

"Make that 4." Harry said.

"Hm? And what would be the fourth?" I asked.

"We can't dance, remember?"

Right. I remembered the first time we danced at the club.
Awkward.

We both chuckled.

It amazed me how dry our conversation was and how short my replies to him were a few minutes ago, and now, we're like this.

I had realized we had been talking for a good number of hours already. It was strange how we never ran out of things to talk about, yet we were still partially strangers to each other. Were we? I couldn't really conclude as I was foreign to this situation.

I froze as I suddenly heard faint footsteps outside of my room. Oh no. What if dad's listening?

"Um.. I need to hang up." I quickly hid under the duvet so my voice will not be heard.

"So soon?"

Soon? Hasn't he realized that we've been talking for hours?

"Yeah. Ehrm, I forgot, I still have homework to do." I make up an excuse. The lamest excuse I've heard, if you'd ask me.

"Oh, okay." Harry said, his voice a bit lowly. He sounded almost disappointed.

"Bye." I said. But before I could hang up, Harry interrupted.

"Wait--" He said.

"Hm?"

"I never got to know your name. I mean, your complete name."

"Bree Summers." I said softly.

I panicked as I heard dad's footsteps getting closer.

"Sorry, I really need to hang up." I quickly hung up on my phone. I felt a little guilty for hanging up on him. It seemed quite rude, but I couldn't afford to be scolded by dad.

Fortunately, he didn't come in to check on me. But what if he was listening? Was I too loud?

Suddenly, I felt my phone vibrate. It was a text from Harry.
