Keeping Hope

A few months later

October 13th 2011

Imagine a perfect world, with less sadness then what we have.
Where we can walk around with the sun shining out of our pockets, above the rooftops and the stars.
And time, it goes by without fear because we know we'll meet again in heaven.
I imagine a world full of bliss since it is so rare here, in this town that I love as I lie under the covers and think.
Go back to the place where she tells me that tomorrow what I most desire will come true, and your face is full of happiness not sadness.
Imagine in the middle of such a lovely day- the skies above you, where love is with you- just like that.. I remember the way she sat on the sand painting.
Imagine a simple world, a bed to sleep in at night, a house to protect you from the rain, and the smell of tree tops.
I wonder what was with her, if she lived.
Imagine a world where life goes forward and backwards, what you missed you’re able to relive and something that has passed is here again..
I remember her eyes, she had a secret only she knew, the painter…
Imagine a place where all our dreams come true.
Imagine a place full with Hope.

August

“How was it, saying goodbye?” Harry questioned Dylan who was leaning on the car door as Harry packed up Emma and his bags.
“How does it feel to say goodbye you wanker? My girlfriend just left me for America,” Dylan said sorely.
“She’ll be back in three months Dylan, and you have skype and stuff,” Emma pointed out to him, trying to make it somewhat easier.
“It’s easy for you both to say so, your colleges are what? A 10 minute walk from each other?” Dylan pushed himself off the car.
“Dylan.. I will miss you,” Emma shrugged, a soft smile playing on her lips. Her pink strike was long gone, the strip was back to its natural brown.
It has been tough on the group of friends, but they stayed close and strong pulling each other up and forward.

When the trail was over, the chief gave the diary back the Anne and Harry. That was when Anne came across a quite weird entry which she asked Harry about. He then made the connection to Emma’s mum and photocopied it for her.
It was heartwarming for Emma to know her mum was able to touch Hope in such a deep way in such a short time. In some ways it helped Emma push through her hurt and loss she lived in. She didn’t have her sketchbook tucked under her arm any more. However she did take up art classes and got into a really good art program a half an hour walk away from Harry.
And Harry? He did it. He graduated and is going to major in English literature, like he always wanted, making his mum the most proudest woman in the world.
She who always believed in her children and wanted the most for them is getting to see at least one grow and succeed, which made her tear up every time someone would mention Harry and his achievements.

“You all packed?” Dylan questioned when Harry closed the boot of the car.
“Yeah, we just need to say our goodbyes and then we’ll be off,” Harry said.
“I can’t believe your dad is letting Harry drive you up to college,” Dylan turned to Emma.
“Neither can I, but it is rather stupid for everyone to travel up there,” Emma winked.
“Will you remember me once you become a famous artist?” He questioned Emma.
“Will you remember me once you become a successful lawyer?” Emma shot back at him.
“Can you both stop? Dylan you might be a three hour drive away but you will be coming to visit very soon.. You know you can’t keep away from me,” Harry cut in.
“Christmas time we all are back home anyway,” A voice told them.

Niall walked up to them, followed by Louis and Eleanor.
Perrie already left the week before.
“Niall! You came!” Emma exclaimed and threw her arms around her cousin.
“Of course I did, not letting you leave without a proper goodbye,” He hugged her.
“I can’t believe you’re leaving too,” Eleanor wiped her eyes, trying to contain her tears.
“At least you three are all at the same collage,” Emma hugged Eleanor next.
Louis and Niall got scholarships through a football program at Manchester University and Eleanor decided to follow Louis since she didn’t really care where she’ll study.
“Come on El, like Niall said we’ll see each other soon enough,” Louis reassured his girlfriend.
“This is so weird, I feel like I’ve known you guys forever and it has only been a year,” Emma tried her best to hold back her own tears.

“Call me when you get up there,” Eleanor gave Emma one last hug before they left, letting them say goodbye to their parents.
“Emma? Are you ready to go?” Jon came outside looking for his daughter.
“Yeah, I’ll call you once I am settled in,” She promised as she hugged her father.
“If Mum was here to see you know.. she would be so proud of you! What a wonderful beautiful woman you grew in to,” Jon kissed her cheek and let her go.
“I’m sure she knows.. I’m sure she is watching over us,” Emma wiped her eyes not able to hold in her tears.
“I’m sure she is,” Jon blinked away his own tears.
“And you’re coming up next Friday right?” Emma made sure.
“Yes, won’t miss it for the world, drive carefully son,” Jon hugged Harry next.

Anne was the next to step out of the car. Harry and Emma knew she was watching them the whole time through the window, and her eyes were already fully red and wet when she finally joined them.
“Mum.. don’t cry,” Harry begged of her, his heart not able to see his mum cry anymore even if these are tears of joy.
“I know.. I just wish.. god,” She sobbed as Harry wrapped his strong arms around her.
“I know that Hope is here too.. I’m sure she is mum,” He whispered.
“She would have taken the same major as you,” Anne wiped her eyes.
“She would kick my arse, always being so much better than me,” Harry let out a chuckle.
“Probably, gosh I miss her,” Fresh tears fell down her cheeks.
“Me too mum,” Harry caught them and wiped them away from her.
“I’ll call you every night mum I promise,” Harry told her.
“Oh Emma love, come here my lovely girl, you two look after each other you hear me?” Anne hugged Emma tightly as Emma cried on her shoulder, not able to keep her tears in any longer.
“I will, and you make sure my dad remembers to eat,” Emma cried.
“Don’t worry love I will take good care of him for you,” Anne smiled.
“You drive carefully now,” She kissed her son’s cheek.
“I will mum,” He promised getting into the car.
Emma and Harry waved to their parents as Harry started to drive away.

“Can’t believe we are finally off to college,” Emma said once she calmed down.
“I know.. This is unreal,” Harry agreed squeezing her hand. Emma leaned over to kiss his cheek smiling, excitement finally taking over for this new beginning.

As they passed the school and came to a stop at the traffic lights, Harry noticed Sam on the other side of the street.
He gave him a slight wave, and Sam nodded in return.
It must have been the hardest thing for Sam to stand up to his family like he did for the truth.
His brother got life for killing Hope and lying about it, while his dad got 10 years for covering it up.
Harry never believed this day will come, and that he would be out in the clear, without people’s judgmental faces scolding him.

Hope imagined a time of bliss and happiness with clear skies and the sun shining.. This day has come and even though it was mixed with a splash of sadness Harry knew she would be proud of him and where he is. He finally brought her justice and peace.
He wasn’t afraid of the passing time, knowing one day he will see his sister again.

Oh darling.. I'm so sorry...
A mother teaches us everything-except how to live without her.. It is painful and sometimes the memories knock the wind out of us, and the feeling of lose comes in waves, but you're strong and wonderful because of her- and nothing is your fault! I am sure she is so very proud and full of joy with who you're growing up to be! SO cherish your memories and keep them close to your heart for they will make you smile and happy, and strong at moments of need ! Even though she is not right in front of you to touch and to hold, she is there with you- in your heart. And I truly believe you can talk to her and she will answer, you will feel it, and know what she would guide you to do.
Lots of love poppet- chin up xx

It's really sad that Emma lost her mom , I could relate to her though I lost my mom too and Miss her very much and I currently live with my dad . Not a day goes by that i don't think about her , sometimes thinking that it's my fault . If only i would have stayed up she probably wouldn't have died
