Keeping Hope

Tyler

Emma is sat at the anteroom, refusing to leave until Harry and Dylan are let free. She called Jen and Niall to let them know what was going on, and they promised to be there as soon as possible.

Jon was closed in his office with the diary, and one of the officers kept coming out and trying to persuade Emma to go home, though of course she ignored him staring out the window in silence, or getting up and walking back and forth, waiting for them to come out.

After about 15 minutes Jennifer came running into the station, making Emma jump to her feet. She had fire in her eyes, and Emma knew the officer behind the front desk should beware. Emma follows Jen, keeping a step behind, since she rather watch the show from the back, and not the front line.

Emma’s POV

“I demand to see Dylan,” Jen commends the officer.

“And who might you be?” The officer answers in a bored tone.

“Trouble, if I don’t get to see him,” Jen replies sharply, without losing stride.

“I’ll give you one minute to get out of the station before I get two police officers to kick your arse out of here,” The officer smirks.

Jennifer gives her one last glance before turning to me with a smile painted on her lips.

“Well you asked for it,” She shrugs to the officer, and then without any warnings takes a right to the corridor and start shouting Dylan’s name.

I try my best to suppress the smile threatening to break onto my face, but with no use.
My dad’s door shoots open and I see his startled face scanning the premises for the source of the wreckage. Officers are running out of rooms to get hold of Jennifer, though once my dad notices us he stops them, telling them he has it covered and they should all get back to work.

“That was uncalled for,” My dad frowns down at Jen.

“So is that nitwit sod you put at the front desk,” Jennifer replies without blinking, and I stifle a giggle.

“Get in here- both of you,” My dad holds open the door to his office.

“You might want to get some more chairs,” I say when I catch Niall’s face at the corner of my eye.

My dad glances back and sighs.

“Very well, to the conference room then,” He beckons us to follow him.

“What the hell is going on Uncle Jon?” Niall inquires once him and Louis catch up to us.

“So I was right all along, all of you are in on this I see? Where are the other two? The coach’s daughter?” My dad questions.

“Loo,” Louis explains.

A few moments later Eleanor and Perrie join, and we all sit ourselves down around the big table, waiting for my dad to explain what is going on. I sit patiently, the whole time watching my dad’s right hand, which was holding on to Hope’s diary.

Harry’s POV

“Look lads, we can do this in a nice way, you two explain everything from the beginning or if you’d like we can call your attorneys,” The detective Chief Horan called down to talk to us says.

“I don’t understand why though? I mean we just spent the last two hours explaining everything to Mr. H,” I respond.

“We need it on camera,” He explains.

We start over again, telling this detective everything we said just hours ago. At some point I just start laughing, this whole thing seems so ironic and unreal to me. Dylan glances over at me and starts laughing too. The detective seems gobsmacked but I really don’t give a fuck. I’m tired, and I wonder if Emma is still here or if she went home, though knowing her she probably is still here grilling her dad on our whereabouts.

“Dylan!! Dylan?!?! Where are you?! Dylan?!” Suddenly we hear a girl’s voice shout. I glance at Dylan and he glances back at me and we burst out laughing once more.

“I told you your girlfriend can be somewhat mad when she wants to,” I say between chuckles,
watching as the detective jumps to his feet and out the door to see what is going on.

“That is what I love about her,” He answers with a dreamy gaze.

“If she’s here it means they are all here,” He states a moment later.

“Probably right, I reckon Emma called them over,” I ponder.

“You reckon they’ll let us join them?” Dylan looks at me.

“Maybe if they don’t send them all home,” I shrug.

“I don’t think they’ll allow them,” Dylan snorts, and we start laughing again.

“This is nuts,” He shakes his head.

“You got that right,” The detective walks back into the room closing the door after him.

We both stare up at him, as he takes a seat in front of us.

“Feel like explaining what was so funny?” He questions, looking from Dylan to me.

“No, not so much.. though you know what I would like?” I turn to Dylan, as if we are having a regular conversation.

“What is that mate?” He inquires glancing at me.

“I feel like having a hamburger, I’m famished really,” I sigh.

“I know right? It’s like we’ve been talking for hours, and I can really use some food,” He nods to me.

“Well we can finish up here and then you will be free to go eat whatever you’d like,” The detective answers.

“I have a better idea, why don’t you let us join our friends instead?” I stare right at him, the humor in my voice gone.

Emma’s POV

“Dad, please,” I ask of him. By know all my friends noticed the diary in his palm, and in return they are all keeping quiet.

“How did you get this?” My dad puts the diary in the middle of the table for all of us to see.

“It was put in my locker,” Eleanor speaks up.

“By whom?”

She keeps quiet, not sure what to answer.

“If we knew we would have told you by now,” Jen states.

“You know how long this was searched for?” Dad questions us.

“We don’t have it for that long,” Niall replies.

“It doesn’t matter, you should have handed this in straight away,” He raises his voice.

“Why? I gave it to Harry- it was his sister’s, which gives him the right to hold on to it,” Eleanor shrugs.

“You have to stop playing police, this is not a game,” Dad bangs on the table.

“You need to stop treating us like children! We are all part of this!” I blurt out, getting to my feet.

“What are you on about? This happened two years before any of these kids heard of you, you have no part in this,” My dad replies in a leveled tone.

“What do you know? We all agree you need to look into Tyler right? We all agree he’s a piece of human rubbish, so why aren’t you going after him instead of keeping Dylan and Harry locked up?”

They aren’t locked up, only giving statements,” Dad sighs.

“How long does that take?” Louis asks.

“I want to understand when all of you got involved in this,” Dad demands.

“As you probably already know Dylan was part of this from the beginning, being Harry’s best mate and all,” Jennifer speaks up first.

“And El and I were part of this from the beginning being best mates with Hope,” Perrie speaks up.

“And when did you lot get sucked into this,” Dad points at Louis Niall and Jen.

“Well at first we weren’t, we were sure Harry was guilty,” Niall answers truthfully.

“What changed your mind?”

“The diary,” Harry’s voice is sound behind me.
We turn as Harry and Dylan enter the room, Jen flying to her feet to wraps her arms around Dylan.

I scoot to the side making room for Harry. He sits down next to me, placing his arm on my shoulders.

“The diary changed everything,” He says.

Harry’s POV

I reckon Dylan and I walk in to the room right when Emma’s dad was trying to understand how everyone is connected.

“Jennifer- how are you part of this?” Chief Horan questions her.

“First, I dated Tyler,” She answers without even blinking.

“What?” The chief seems confused.

“The end of last year we started dating, and then he hit me- and these lads saw him do it and stepped in to stop him, and after a while I started dating Dylan, which told me everything just like Styles told Em everything,” Jennifer gestures to Emma.

“He assaulted you?” The chief asks, and Jen nodes.
The chief writes that down.

“You should have said something about that sooner, he could have been brought in.”

“He assaulted me too,” Emma speaks up from next to me, making her dad swipe his head towards her swiftly.

“When did that happen?!” He demanded to know.

“He punched me our first month here, when I walked Hover,” Emma reports.

“That time you claimed you fall over?” He narrows his eyes.
Emma nods.

“Well that prick.. He is being brought in now anyway.. I’ll be having a long chat with him other than going over Hope’s case,” Her dad mutters.

We hear shouts from outside letting us know Tyler is finally here. We all get to our feet hurrying to the door to catch a glimpse of him.
Finally justice will be made.

Tyler was screaming threatening to sue everyone in sight, shouting for his lawyer.
When he sees my brother and his friends he comes to a silent stop watching them, his jaw clenched and his eyes in slits.

A smirk plays on Harry’s face as he watches the realization take over Tyler’s features. When he passes them, Emma takes a step in front of Harry, almost coming face to face with Tyler, holding up my diary in her hands, visible for him to see.

Tyler chokes when he notices it, his eyes following her as he is being dragged down the corridor, the smirk that was placed on Harry’s face is now mirrored to the rest of them, all feeling the end is closer than ever, knowing they will be able to move on to a new page in a matter of days.

Oh darling.. I'm so sorry...
A mother teaches us everything-except how to live without her.. It is painful and sometimes the memories knock the wind out of us, and the feeling of lose comes in waves, but you're strong and wonderful because of her- and nothing is your fault! I am sure she is so very proud and full of joy with who you're growing up to be! SO cherish your memories and keep them close to your heart for they will make you smile and happy, and strong at moments of need ! Even though she is not right in front of you to touch and to hold, she is there with you- in your heart. And I truly believe you can talk to her and she will answer, you will feel it, and know what she would guide you to do.
Lots of love poppet- chin up xx

It's really sad that Emma lost her mom , I could relate to her though I lost my mom too and Miss her very much and I currently live with my dad . Not a day goes by that i don't think about her , sometimes thinking that it's my fault . If only i would have stayed up she probably wouldn't have died
