Make Me

Waste My Time With You

Standing at the side of a long stretch of road, Justice wondered how long they would be there. The bus had managed to get two flat tires, but with only one spare, someone had to go get another one. Paul was frantically on the phone trying to assure the venue that they would be there on time. Liam talked to the other bus driver and it seemed that three of the boys could ride with them, but that left two unaccounted for. Walking over, Justice figured she would offer her car as a way to get the other two boys to the venue.

“Hey,” she said to get their attention, while she pushed loose hair behind her ear. “I can give two of you a ride.”

“Great,” Liam stated before calling the boys over.

Louis automatically called riding with Justice and volunteered Harry to be the second passenger. So, they all started off for the venue, the bus driver saying that he would be there by the end of the concert. Louis grabbed the backseat, leaving Harry to get in the passenger seat beside Justice, his subtle way of pushing them together.

“I’m bored,” Louis whined after an hour of driving, the radio was on some talk program that really just gave background noise. “Can you put on some music, at least?”

“I can do that,” Justice replied, popping a CD into her stereo, she hoped he wouldn’t mind listening to the mix of bands she had put on it. Her taste in music was a little bit odd, she listened to nearly everything from Frank Sinatra to Taylor Swift, Patsy Cline to The Wonder Years, Katy Perry to A Day To Remember. Those were just some of the people on the CD.

“Great,” Louis said, a smile nearly swallowing his face. Looking in her rearview mirror, Justice could see Louis watching Harry and herself. A thoughtful look was clear on his face. Leaning forward, he stated, “You two look good together.”

Justice fought the smile that threatened to cross her lips in an attempt to hide how she felt, but her eyes gave her away. She would never say it, but she was really falling for the boy. Glancing over at Harry, she watched him turn to look at Louis.

“You think?” he asked, a grin pulling at the corner of his lips.

“Yeah,” Louis began, a cheeky smile lighting up his face. “Credit goes to Justice of course. She’s pretty enough for the both of you.”

Laughter filled the car as Louis found his joke more than amusing, while Harry just glared at him. Surely if there had been something for him to throw at him, it would have been aimed at Louis’s head. Justice giggled more at the two as they argued for a few minutes.

“Alright,” Louis said, as Harry reached back to get at the boy. “You’ve caught me! You’re curls are just too seductive, I’m intimidated by your sexiness!”

“That’s the plan,” Harry laughed.

The two continued on joking around until they arrived at the venue, Louis ran over to Liam and Niall to see how their ride had been while Harry stayed back. Grabbing a sweater from the back seat, Justice was a bit surprised to see Harry still standing beside her. Smiling, he put a hand on her shoulder and leaned in to give her a quick kiss.

“Sorry about Louis, he’s a bit eccentric,” he said, leaning against the car.

“Naw, he’s a riot, I like him,” she replied, pulling at his t-shirt she hoped she wasn’t blushing. “You’re all pretty nice guys.”

“Yeah.” Licking his lips, Harry seemed in another place, like physically he was there, but mentally he was on the moon. “Can I ask you something?”

“Sure.”

“Well, I think we get on real well and I was wondering if you’d be interested in…” trailing off it seemed like he had second thoughts about the question, but Justice already knew what he was going to say.

“Going out with you?” Justice finished his sentence; her face was nearly the color of a blank word document. She really wanted to say yes, but would that be considered trouble? Biting her lips she decided to take a chance, what was the worst that could happen? “I’d like that.”

“Really? That’s great,” he said a smile pushing dimples into his cheeks. “We have a day off on Friday, when we’re in New York, maybe we could do something then?”

“Absolutely,” she replied, pulling on the hem of her black tank top nervously. It was one thing to date a fairly unknown acoustic musician, dating a pop superstar on the other hand was going to be insane.

After Harry left to start rehearsal, Justice went to grab pictures of fans in the line outside that was already part way down the building. The concert was for another four hours, but the girls and few boys were dedicated. Walking over to a girl that wore a One Direction shirt, bracelets and had a bow in her hair with the English flag, Justice hoped she could get a picture. Sometimes people didn’t like her asking, but it was only polite.

“Hi,” Justice greeted before pulling at her camera. “Do you mind if I get a picture of you?”

“Of me?” the girl asked, confusion swirling on her face. “Why?”

“I’m One Direction’s tour photographer and I think your outfit shows how much the fans support them,” she began her explanation. “So can I get your picture?”

“I guess,” the girl replied, letting Justice get a few pictures before she started down the line again.

Crossing the street, she got a picture of how long the line stretched. It wound down the building to nearly the corner, but it was early and after a few hours it would stretch around the block. The Directioners were ready for the night’s festivities, most wearing shirts that showed the band some had home-made ones; others carried signs that said things like ‘Marry me Liam!’ and ‘I love Niall Horan’. Nearly the entire line was made up of young girls, most accompanied by their parents, some given the okay to go with friends, and a small number were boys, and girls in their twenties.

It seemed to Justice that the boys had been marketed for the younger demographic, meaning most of their fans were still in high school. That was normal though, it was the same in the late nineties and early two thousands when the Backstreet Boys and N’Sync ruled the world of boy bands. Justice was almost ashamed to admit that she had posters of both bands on her bedroom walls when she was younger.

Heading backstage she snapped pictures of the opening acts and the boys getting ready, a few fans with backstage passes chatted with the band members while she moved around the room. Harry sent her a smile when he found her across from him. He didn’t seem to care that they were working together on this tour, all he seemed to care about was that they were dating; in a way. Justice smiled back before getting lost in the people floating around.

After nearly an hour, it was finally time for the boys to take the stage. Deciding to get a few pics from side stage, Justice watched as the boys passed in front of her. Harry stopped for a moment to grab his mic.

“Break a leg,” Justice said, Harry smiled at her and gave her a peck on the lips before heading out to join the boys.

They boys put on a good show and before she knew it, they were back on the road. Heading to the next town and getting closer to Friday. Justice bottled her excitement up, trying her best to keep calm even though she was over the moon that Harry Styles had asked her out. He was just too cute to ignore.
