Make Me

Paparazzi

Walking down the well-lit hall of the hotel, Justice could hear her muffled footsteps as her feet hit the carpeting and a pair of voices that traveled from the door in front of her. She had decided to meet Harry at his room after getting ready, her hair was done in a light curl that bounced with every step and instead of jeans she had on a nice blue and white A line skirt. It wasn’t often that she got to dress up, so she took the opportunity to wear her simple wedges that had an incline of barely two inches. It was hardly noon, but the boys opened the door and Justice found they were already discussing options for the night.

“I say we go out to a club,” Louis stated, pulling on simple grey hoodie. “Do some dancing.”

“Or damage,” Harry said as Louis started dancing about wildly, his arms flailing about.

“That too,” Louis agreed, dropping an arm across Harry’s shoulders. “But it’s all in good fun.”

“You ready to go?” Harry asked turning to Justice as Louis went to grab a pair of sneakers.

“Yep.”

“Good.” Smiling, he opened the door for her, “Have fun with the lads, Lou.”

Sneaking out of the hotel, they managed to miss the fans and get to the crowded subway. It seemed nobody thought Harry was Harry Styles. There were looks from girls that seemed to be hopeful, but they would shake the thought from their head deciding that Harry Styles would never be on a New York subway. The two slipped through the city relatively unnoticed; only the occasional fan would recognize and be certain that it was him.

The bustling city was busy with its own day, not really paying attention to the superstar and his date. It was peaceful to walk amongst strangers and be treated like a normal person. Stopping at a food cart, they were surprised to see Louis walking over towards them.

“Fancy meeting you here,” he said with a nod. “You two having fun?”

“Loads, we’ve managed to see quite a lot of the city,” Harry replied, a smile pulling at his lips.

“Yeah, and we have tons of pictures,” Justice stated holding up her camera to illustrate her point.

“Leave it to you to turn a date into work,” Louis said a hand on his hip. “Hand it over,” holding out his hand he waited for her to give up her prized possession. “Oh come on now, Love. I promise I’ll take good care of it.”

Grasping the camera tight, she glared at the sassy boy. “No way are you taking my camera. It’s my baby.”

“It’s a camera,” Louis slowly replied. “I’m pretty sure you can live without it.”

“You don’t know that!”

“Why don’t we just put it in her bag and promise not to dig it out?” Harry tried, before he paid for the sandwiches they had gotten from the street vendor. “Even though, the pictures weren’t really for work.”

Louis ‘tsked, but with a sharp turn of his head he said, “Fine. Have it your way, but there will be no camera when we go out tonight!”

Harry shook his head as his friend walked back over to the boys that seemed to have been in a shop down the street. Niall waved, but the other boys were busy trying to figure out where the next stop was. As the boys disappeared from sight, Harry turned to Justice an apologetic glint upon his face.

“Sorry about that.” Taking her hand, they started down the street their sandwiches already missing bites as they moved over the cracked pavement.

“He’s not so bad,” she mumbled, her fingers locking with his as they walked. “His intentions are good I’m sure.”

“I don’t know about that,” Harry laughed, “Sometimes I think he gets carried away with his jokes and doesn’t realize that not everyone will find it funny.”

“At least he doesn’t go into it with bad intentions,” Justice replied a smile falling into place on her pale lips.

“Ah, but you see, Love, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.”

Back in her hotel room, Justice rummaged through her suitcase trying to find the one dress she had packed. Somewhere beneath all the t-shirts and jeans and sweats was a little red dress that made her feel like the sexiest girl on earth. It highlighted all the right areas and made it look like she had more cleavage than she did, which looked evened out with her hips. The tiny thing was her favorite piece of clothing.

Tossing things around, she finally got to the bottom where the dress laid. Smiling, she slipped it on and let it bring out her confident side. It made her feel like a warrior, ready to battle all the other girls at a club just to dance with a boy who’s cheeky grin made her stomach do flip-flops. Grabbing a pair of black pumps, she put them on and felt fabulous. A permanent grin had etched itself on her lips, the clear symbol of a woman who felt at ease in her own skin and Justice enjoyed that warm uplifting feeling.

Stepping into the bathroom, she checked her make-up. The warm bronze eye shadow brightened her blue eyes, and the red lipstick matched the color of her dress. It was a wonderfully bright, fire engine red color that sat perfectly against her pale skin and warmed up the cold black of her hair, which sat atop her head in a bun shaped like a bow. If she was going out, she wanted to be pretty and girly.

As she stepped out onto the beige carpeting of her room, a knock resonated through the air. Biting her lip, she opened the door to see Harry in a pair of dark skinny jeans and a tight black top. A navy blazer accentuated his already broad shoulders, and on his feet were a pair of white sneakers.

“You look… Wow,” he managed, his eyes wide as he took in her dolled up state. It was new and he liked it, but he still found her tom boyish wardrobe to be fitting of the girl.

“Back at you, handsome,” she said pulling on the collar of his blazer.

Licking his lips, he offered his arm and the two went off to meet the boys. All of them had chosen a dressy casual look, dark jeans or slack with nice shirts. Zayn had taken the time to perfect his ‘do’ and topped it with a hat. Niall seemed to look cute in anything he wore, even just the jeans and polo he wore. Liam was the most dressed up of the bunch in black slacks and a blue button up, but it was a very good look on him. Lastly, Louis had on his typical dark jeans, white button up short sleeved shirt and suspenders. He was a character.

The ride to the club had taken nearly twenty minutes with the New York traffic, but Louis and Niall had gone back and forth trying to come up with the funniest jokes, so the ride hadn’t seemed so long. Justice walked into the club with Paul as the two had been chatting about the job, and didn’t have to stop while the boys took pictures with the crazy, greedy paparazzi.

Harry and the boys joined them at a VIP table after the photo op and the night began. Dancing and laughing, it was great fun having even a couple of drinks. Justice had never been a fan of alcohol, not since her dad had turned to it after her mother’s death, but every now and again she had a few. It was strange to her that no one id’ed them even though it was a well-known fact that none of them were old enough to drink, but she let it slip her mind. Hours had passed as she danced with Harry, her arms around his shoulders as he held her waist. Before she knew it, it was time to leave.

The boys led the way out of the club, but Harry was at her side, an arm around her waist as he led her to the car. Flashes of light caught them off guard and blinded Justice momentarily as she realized that she had just been photographed with one of the world’s most sought after pop stars. The only thought that ran through her head on the entire ride back to the hotel was, ‘How do I explain this one to Mark?’
