Katie's POV

We walked back into Liam's apartment with Niall holding my hand very tightly and Louis carrying my suitcase. The boys wouldn't let me walk even one foot away from them the whole way here, and barely said a word during the drive.

It really annoyed me that they haven't shouted at me yet. Just the anticipation of it is killing me.

I tried to pull away from Nialls' hand but he pulled me back towards him and sat us on the couch with the other four boys sitting opposite us staring at me. Curse this stupid circle couch.

The wait to be shouted at is something I've never really had to deal with. My old parents use to just let it out straight away, so this was very strange.

"Why?" Liam asked in some what of a calm tone. Well that's odd.

Niall squeezed my hand trying to make me talk back but all I did was shrug. I had nothing to say.

"I don't understand why you would try to leave. I mean sure it's not perfect for you but were your family now, you cant just run away when it gets to hard. We are all you have Katie so please talk to us." Liam said as he walked over and crouched down in front of me. Something he has done whenever I get all quiet and wont look at him, he will sit right in front of me on the floor so I have to look at him.

I stood up and jerked my hand away from Niall. I walked straight into my movie room rather than my bedroom so it was easy for them to see where I was.

I searched through the movies until I found The Muppets. That movie always manages to cheer me up so I put the disc into the DVD player and flopped on to the large couch-bed thingy that takes up nearly half the room, but it's super comfy so I don't care if it's to big and makes me look tiny.

Wrapping myself in a fluffy blanket, I got comfortable and started the movie.

About halfway through the movie someone knocked on the door. I paused the movie just as one of my favourite songs from the movie started.

I debated with myself weather I should get off my lazy bum and open the door or actually talk and just tell them to come in. I decided against talking and just got up and opened the door.

I opened the door just enough to stick my head out and see who was knocking. surprisingly it was Louis, not Niall or Liam maybe because those two would just push me to talk to them. Whatever it is I'm actually glad its not them and that it's Louis.

"Uh Liam asked one of us to come and sit with you for a while just to make sure your okay and stuff, since were pretty good friends I thought you might want it to be me. I'm not going to push you to talk to me or anything, okay?" Louis rambled on while rubbing the back of his neck.

I left the door open for him and made my way back to the large couch. Louis quietly closed the door behind him and made his way over to the couch.

Louis sat next to me and made himself comfortable. I was in the process of wrapping the fluffy blanket around myself again when I noticed out the corner of my eye that Louis was watching me do this. I sort of feel bad because he doesn't have a jacket or sweater and I can't see any other blankets in the room.

I pulled the blanket away from my body on the side where Louis was sitting next to me, almost like I was inviting Louis to cuddle under the blanket with me, without actually having to say anything. Louis looked at the blanket then at my face to see if I was serious, I put on the best smile I could manage to reassure him. He smiled back and scooted over to get under the blanket with me.

I couldn't help but think that right now Louis was like the only thing I have close to a best friend, sure I have Ashley but she can't comfort me halfway across the world. Louis is the best guy friend I never had, until now.

The movie wasn't even near the end yet and I found myself drifting off to the sound of Louis' heartbeat.

*2 days later* (24th December 2013)


The last two days have been, bearable I guess you could say.

I have stayed off all forms of social media, I haven't left the apartment once and have only said about two maybe three full sentences. Trust me it was a pretty hard two days.

Today it's Christmas eve, also known as Louis' birthday. I actually feel sorry for him because it's his first time being single on his birthday in a long time. Poor bloke won't be getting anything tonight.

Right now I'm almost ready to go to his birthday party but Liam keeps telling me to hurry up. He has a girlfriend/witch so he should know not to rush a girl when she's getting ready.

Liam continued to knock on my bathroom door until I get annoyed and yelled at him.

"JUST A SECOND!"

I took one last look in the mirror before deciding that I was happy enough with how I looked. I made sure my outfit made me look sort of young because I was probably going to be one of the only people there that was under 18, and I made sure that my outfit was Liam approved before I even put it on. Right now I just don't want to do anything to push me and Liam further away. It's Christmas eve for goodness sake.

I opened the door to find Liam all dressed and ready with one of his lame snapbacks on and his car keys in his hand.

"You look nice, and not to revealing." Liam flashed me a huge grin hoping that I would except his complement.

"You ruined that with the second statement." I said as I brushed past him to grab my phone out of the lounge room then down to the car.

Once we had arrived at Louis and Harrys apartment, it was just as I expected it to be. Countless famous people and no one under the age of maybe 18? except me of course.

"LIAM! KATIE!" Louis shouted as he happily ran over with his beer in hand and hugged me then Liam.

"Why did she get the first hug?" Liam asked sarcastically while folding his arms. He didn't keep it up for long before he started laughing causing me and Louis to laugh as well.

"Liam go relax and get yourself a drink. Katie your coming with me, I've got some people I want you to meet." Louis grabbed my hand after talking and dragged me into the lounge.

"Ed, Perrie, Kendell, Olly and Demi." He said pointing at them all. Wow I'm so star struck right now.

"This is Katie!" Louis carried on with a very big smile on his face.

Perrie stood up from next to Zayn and instantly hugged me. Oh my god I'm hugging Perrie Edwards!

"It's nice to finally meet you. I've heard so much about you, you have all five boys wrapped around your finger already I see." She winked towards Louis who poked his tongue at her.

Olly came and stood next to Perrie before talking.
"How could she not? She's adorable." He winked at me after he said that. Oh my god.

"It's nice to meet you all." I smiled trying not to blush at what Olly Murs had just said to me.

They all said something nice back except Kendell. She didn't seem like a very nice person but it doesn't bother me because I doubt I will ever have to talk to her again.

Louis grabbed my arm and brought me to the side so he could talk to me again.

"How would you like to meet 5 seconds of summer?" He asked with a smirk on his face.

I am fangirling so hard on the inside right now.

"Is there any point even asking that question? Of course I would!!!" I said while jumping up and down.

"Take me to them right now, I want to make out with Calum and maybe Ashton too!" I said while daydreaming about what could possibly happen even though I know it won't.

"Damn Katie! You were not this excited when you meet us." Louis said pouting at the fact that I was more excited to meet 5 seconds of summer than one direction.

"Well the first time I meet Harry I was in a mall where like fifty people knew me so it would have been embarrassing to fangirl and when I meet the rest of you I nearly had a concussion because of my own brother but now that I'm a Payne I don't care just introduce me to Ashton!" I said jumping up and down again.

"Fine, but when I see you after Christmas you have to pretend it's the first time we meet and fangirl like this." He laughed pointing at me and how happy I was.

"Deal." I said looking around to see if I could find Ashton.

"Okay, okay. Come on I will introduce you." He held out his arm for me to link mine with an he lead me towards the kitchen.

When we got in there I saw Niall and Liam talking and Harry downing some kind of drink.

I looked around a bit more until I saw the four boys that I was looking for. They were all talking to each other and laughing, they all looked so god damn hot.

I think I'm about to hyperventilate.

"I changed my mind! I don't want to meet them." I said to Louis and tried to leave the kitchen but he grabbed my arm so I couldn't.

He laughed at my sudden mood change.

"You are meeting them. Especially after how excited you were like a minute ago."

He dragged me past Liam and Niall who both smirked as if they knew what was about to happen.

"Hey guys! Ashton, Michael, Calum and Luke. This is Katie Payne." Louis said so casually while draping his arm over my shoulders.

"It's nice to finally meet the girl that has all the boys doing backflips for her." Michael said while hugging me. Wow oh my god. This is like a freaking dream.

Luke laughed before hugging me too.
"It's true, Louis would probably do a backflip right now if you asked him to."

"Aw look you made Louis blush!" Calum said while pulling Luke off me so he could hug me.
"You look very cute." He said in my ear but everyone heard him and he knew they did.

"HEY! Don't flirt with her! I was going to say that." Ashton pouted. I have to say I've always been a Ashton girl so that made the butterflies in my stomach go crazy.

I looked at the ground trying to hide the fact that I was blushing so much right now.

"Ashton hug the girl already! She has the biggest crush on you!" Louis said causing him to get a punch in the arm from me.

Ashton laughed and wrapped his arms around my waist and I wrapped my arms around his neck. This moment was so prefect and I wish it wouldn't end.

"Aw aren't you two just the cutest." Liam said while joining our hug.

Ashton laughed and winked at me. Oh god he is dreamy.

Liam slug his arms around me and Ashton, making sure to stand in between us.

"You two would make the cutest couple! Like it is so easy to see that Ashton likes Katie, and Katie practically loves Ashton already." Liam said slurring his words a little bit. It is so easy to see he is tipsy already. Dumbass.

It's about 11 o'clock now and I'm starting to get bored out of my brain.

I spent most of the night with the 5 seconds of summer boys but they left about twenty minutes ago. Since they left Louis has been pulling me around to talk to different people but really I'm sure he's only doing it so I can hold him up when he nearly falls over.

Whenever I manage to get away from Louis for a few minutes, Niall will come and try to cling on to me. I love to hug Niall as much as every other girl in the world but he stinks of alcohol right now and tried to kiss me but I moved my face so he kissed me on the cheek. I can't even imagine how horrible his breathe would be if I did kiss him. Ew.

Everyone here is so overly drunk it's incredible that anyone here can actually stand up by themselves.

Liam walked up to me and pulled me into a hug. Gross he smells just as bad as Niall.

"Heeeey Katie! You haven't been drinking have you?" Liam asked me while pointing his finger at me.

I rolled my eyes at his question, maybe because this has to be the tenth time he's asked me in the last thirty minutes.

"No I haven't Liam." I said trying not to say to much in case he couldn't even hold a proper conversation.

"Good girl. Here can you put my phone in your purse? It keeps going off and it's annoying me." He didn't even wait for me to answer he just passed me his phone and walked away.

I looked at his phone that was in my hands. Instantly I thought of an idea to get me out of this place.

I scrolled through his contacts until I saw one labelled 'mom'. I laughed for a moment at how he spells it with an 'o' unlike me I spell it with a 'u'.

Dialling the number I stepped outside to get some fresh air and because it was much quieter out here.

"Hello? Liam?" I heard Karen say through the phone. It sounded like she was out as well which made me grateful that I didn't wake her up.

"Um no it's Katie" I said almost in a shy tone. I haven't gotten to know Karen that well yet so I do feel a bit shy calling her.

"Katie sweetie what's wrong? Why are you calling from Liam's phone?" At least it's easy to tell she cares.

"Well were at Louis' birthday party and I just want to go home but Liam is still inside. Oh and he asked me hold his phone, I thought it would be easier to call from his phone since I don't have your number on my phone yet." I said trying to talk loud enough so she could hear me over the music.

"We will come and get you and you can sleep at our house. Stay outside and we'll be there soon. Bye sweetie." Usually I wouldn't like that she called me sweetie, especially after what she did to me when I was younger but I just really want to get away from here.

Liam's POV

"Everyone it's midnight! MERRY CHRISTMAS!" Harry shouted while standing on the coffee table in the lounge room.

"Kendell this is your Christmas present!" He pointed to Kendell then began to take his shirt off.

"Oh god. someone cover the children's eyes!" Louis shouted as he walked towards me.

I laughed at Louis but stopped when I noticed a serious look on his face.

"I mean it Liam. Cover Katie's eyes!" He said then started to laugh but my face fell at the mention of Katie.

"Dude what's wrong?" Niall said walking over to me and Louis.

"Have either of you seen Katie recently?" I asked searching my pockets for my phone.

Crap! I gave it to Katie!

"No I think the last time I saw her was about an hour ago." Louis said rubbing his forehead while he was thinking.

"You don't think she would try and go to the airport again do you?" Niall asked looking panicked.

"No I don't think so but then again where the hell is she?"

"Calm down we'll split up and check the whole apartment before we really start freaking out." Louis said putting down his drink and walking towards the bedrooms.

We searched the whole place and even the front and back yard but still didn't find Katie!

"Did you find her?" I asked Louis while searching around the lounge room in case we didn't see her the first time.

"Mate I couldn't find her. What should we do?" Louis said looking just as freaked out as me.

"Okay, okay. One of you give me your phone and I will go home and look there, you two go to the airport and see if anyone there has seen her." I held out my hand and Niall put his phone in it.

"Call me once you've searched the airport." And with that I went outside and started running home.

My place was only a ten minute walk from Louis and Harrys apartment but since I ran it only took like four minutes.

I practically flew out of the elevator and into mine and Katie's apartment. I looked around the lounge room for any sign that she might be home already but didn't see anything.

I ran around the whole house but didn't see any sign she was home.

No shoes kicked off by the door. No TV playing in her room. No purse chucked onto the couch. Nothing.

It must of taken me at least twenty minutes to search the whole house.

I pulled out Nialls phone and called Louis to see if they have had any luck.

As soon as he picked up I was bombarding him with questions.

"Did you find her?"
"Has anyone seen her?"
"Did you ask the security guy?"

He paused for a second before answering me.

"Mate she's not here. We asked the security guards and they haven't seen her at all."

"CRAP! What am I going to do? What if she was kidnapped?" I say through the phone while kicking the couch out of anger.

"I don't know mate have you tried calling her phone?" Oh my god. I didn't try that.

"I got to go. Let me know if she shows up." I end the call and instantly scroll through Niall's contacts until I find Katie's number. Usually I would laugh at how Niall had put a heart next to her name but I was to busy freaking out right now.

"Hey this is Katie Payne, I can't get to the ph-" Fuck. I end the call and pace around the room thinking about what I should do.

After I cant think of anything I decided to make my way to my parents house. They are going to be so mad at me when they find out that I lost their youngest child on Christmas eve. I'm screwed.

Once the cab was pulled up outside my parents house, I pay the man and hop out as fast as I can and run to the front door.

Just like every other Christmas, my parents are still up wrapping presents and putting up last minute decorations at one in the morning.

"Hey Liam, how was Louis' party?" My mum asks me without taking her eyes off the present she was wrapping. It looked like it was a pink handbag, shit that probably means it's for Katie.

"Uh good." I say while walking into the kitchen.

I couldn't bring myself to tell them that I couldn't find Katie.

Giving it one more try before I tell my parents the truth, I used Nialls phone to dial Katie's number again.

As it was ringing I could here a faint sound coming from upstairs so I kept the phone to my ear and walked up the stairs.

I noticed the sound was coming from the room that my parents had done up for Katie before they found out that she would be living with me. Well that's weird.

Opening the door slowly I found Katie sleeping peacefully under the covers while her phone was ringing on the bedside table.

I hung up the phone and walked over to her and kissed her on the forehead, something I do every night without Katie knowing.

I think I just experienced my first Christmas miracle.

Just to clarify! In this story Liam and Katie DON'T have any other siblings.
