“I don’t want her in the wedding anymore mum!” I said sternly, refusing to budge on the situation. She sighed and sat down in a chair before looking back up at me.
“Well I suppose, since this is the first thing you’ve been interested about in the wedding, you can have your way. Tamzyn won’t be in it. But where are you going to find another Maid of Honor?” I shrugged at my mother.
“I’ll find someone.” I told her, not really caring. As long as I wouldn’t have to see Tamzyn, that’s all that mattered.
“Very well. I suppose I’ll let her know. She was doing the right thing Lacey. By telling us.” I rolled my eyes and began to leave the room. “You’re going to thank us for this.”
“What for ruining my life?” I turned back around to hiss at her. She frowned and shook her head at me.
“No, we’re giving you a stable future. We only want what’s best for you Lacey. You’re our first daughter and we love you. That’s why we’re doing this. You’ll understand one day when you have kids.” I looked at her disbelieving.
“I would never force my kids to marry someone they don’t want to.” I told her adamantly.
“Perhaps, but he will give you a good and stable future. This Zayn boy, he doesn’t even know where he will be in ten years. His career isn’t stable. You have to see that? How do you know this isn’t just an infatuation that would have been over and done with in a couple of weeks.” My mother waved her hand dismissively in the air.
“Because I love him.” I told her, watching her eyes narrow in on me. “And he loved me. And anyway it’s my life, if it turned out he was just an infatuation then that is my problem and I would deal with it.”
I left the room before she could continue. I sniffed and tried to keep the tears at bay as Zayn’s face came into my head. The way his eyes hardened when he looked at me before he left was haunting me and breaking my heart. I had been an emotional mess these last couple of days, today was the first day I had left my room.
I just wanted all this to be over with. I wanted to move on from Zayn to at least make life easier but I knew it never would be. When all this started I never though I would fall for him like I did.
“Lacey.” Edmund called out. I turned my back to him and continued down another hallway. I wasn’t in the mood to deal with him.
My father appeared in front of me and I couldn’t hold in the groan that left my mouth. I just wanted a break from everyone, just for a couple of hours.
“Your friend called here.” He stated to me. I glanced up at him in surprise.
“Which one?”
“The recently engaged one.” I looked at him surprised that he would know Skye was recently engaged. I mean it’s not like he made a habit of reading gossip magazines.
“What did she say?” I asked quietly, refusing hope to reach the surface. I’m sure by now Zayn told her what I said. She would think I was a fake and horrible human being. She had probably only rung to yell at me and tell me she wanted nothing to do with me.
“She didn’t say anything, I made sure that the phone call was ended instantly.”
“What! So what you’re stopping me from talking to my friends now?” I asked disbelieving.
“The ones that have connections with that boy, yes. No one is stopping you from talking to Tamzyn.” My father said reaching out to place a hand on my shoulder. I moved out from underneath his hand. Having enough of the conversation, I rolled my eyes and stalked away from him.
They all acted like I was a child who made a mistake and now they had to fix it. But I wasn’t a child and I didn’t make a mistake. Being with Zayn was the best decision I had made in my life so far. Even though it was a selfish choice and albeit rather immature considering I was engaged, I still made a choice. I certainly wasn’t going to regret it anytime soon. I just wanted them to see that.
“Sissy upset?” Luce asked softly as I appeared in her doorway. I nodded and she instantly got off the floor and grabbed my hand before leading me towards her bed. “I know how to make feel better.”
I let her gently push me onto the bed before placing her favourite toy in my arms. It was a fat pink dinosaur I had bought for her last year.
“You still upset?” I nodded at her causing her to frown. I watched as she pushed her hair out of her face. “Why? Is it because Mummy and Daddy are angry with you?”
“Kind of.” I admitted to her as she scrunched up her face, obviously thinking.
“I saw Zayn the other day! Here.” She said happily, like this would brighten my day. It only caused a few tears to slip down my cheek. Her face turned horrified as she tried to clumsily wipe them away. She started to run her small chubby fingers through my hair. I smiled lightly as a few more tears fell.
“Mummy says you have to marry Ed soon. I don’t like him very much. Do you have to marry him?” She asked me, whispering the last part and glancing towards her door like someone would appear at any moment.
“I do sweetie.”
“I like Zayn much more.” She frowned. I eyed her for a moment before sighing and pulling her into my arms. She curled up instantly as I began to run my fingers through her hair.
“I do too sweetheart.” I assured her, pressing a kiss to her head. She made a content noise before her head shot up, almost knocking mine. There was a large smile on her face.
“I have great idea! You should marry Zayn!” I smiled down at her fondly as her smile and eyes were wide.
“Well aren’t you just a smart cookie.” I teased her comfortingly. She nodded happily before resting her head on my chest. Her small fingernails dug into my shirt.
“Sissy still sad?” She asked me softly.
“Yeah Luce. I still I am.” I told her before letting my eyed droop close, pulling her tighter against me. The pink dragon squished in between us. I felt a small bit of comfort and serenity while laying here with Luce. I had a felling this might be the last time I got this comfort.

Oh dang, how did I completely skip so much! I have so much reading to do in the next two days before UNI starts. I probably won't be sleeping tonight, but I literally don't care I need to know it all!
