Home Sweet Home

Chapter One

After four years of tedious studying the ways of dying hair and putting on makeup, I was finally flying back home to England for good. I had spent countless hours working in an overpriced salon to get enough money to have in my bank account and enough to move back home. I enjoyed being on my own for a bit in America but I was truly missing my family back home, especially my older sisters, Samantha and Lou. Lou’s fiancé and little girl, Tom and Lux were high on my list of people I missed but I was completely excited to see Lou when I got to London. Granted I decided to come back home two weeks piror to booking my flight and calling up Lou for a place to stay. I was ecstatic to be coming home to the good old UK. The flight from LAX to JFK to Heathrow was the longest flights of my entire life. When we finally landed in Heathrow I was turning on my phone and called up my sister immediately.

“Where are you?” I asked my older sister as I grabbed my backpack and purse and waited to get off of the plane and into the airport.

“By the baggage claim love,” she replied into the phone.

“Okay,” I said, “And you and Tom are okay with me crashing at your flat until I find a place?”

“Of course Tris,” she said, “I would be a horrible sibling if I said no.”

“But I don’t want to make you feel guilt about it Lou,” I said, “I have enough to sleep in a hotel.”

“You will do no such thing,” Lou said as I weaved in and out of the people in the airport, “You are not guilting me into doing anything Tris. Tom was the one to offer to have stay with us. Besides I’m going on tour with the lads and I need someone to help me with hair and makeup and what better way to bond with my sister who’s been in America for four years then to come with me and help out!”

“Fine,” I sighed, “but the minute you want me out, tell me Lou. I don’t want to overstay my welcome.”

“We’ll continue you this later. I see you walking,” she said and hung up the phone.

I then smiled when I saw Lou’s blonde hair and Lux in her arms. I picked up my pace and I saw Lux struggling so Lou would put her down so she could run up to me.

“Ris!” Lux exclaimed and I giggled at her as I scooped her up in my arms and she squealed.

“Lux!” I smirked at her and she just smiled at me as I kissed her cheeks and forehead and nose.

“I missed you my sweet girl,” I said smiling at her, “Have you been good for your mum and dad?”

“Yes,” she said as we got closer to Lou who hugged me tightly.

“It’s so good to see you again Tris,” Lou said as we hugged each other tightly.

“You too Lou,” I mumbled into her shoulder, “You too.”

“Let’s go get your bags and then we can get back to the flat,” Lou said, “Tom’s been waiting for his football buddy for weeks now.”

I just laughed as we went to the luggage claim and I had handed Lux to Lou and grabbed my two bags of clothes. When I decided to come back home I told my roommate she could have whatever I left and it wasn’t too much. Just a small amount of clothes and all of my furniture that I had bought but I was okay with that. I figured I would get another job here in London and then I would be able to buy my own furniture or find a nice flat that came furnished. Once I had my bags in my hands, I followed Lou and Lux to the car park. Of course Tom was leaning against the car and he grinned when he saw me. I followed him to the boot and put my bags in and was then brought into a bone crushing hug from Tom.

“I’m going to tell you what Lou won’t,” he said, “You’re not living in America again. I’m pretty sure watching football on Skype sucked the same on your end.”

“Agreed,” I giggled as I hugged him back.

“Good,” he said and then we got into the car, “We have to get back to the flat. I believe some lads are wanting to see you too.”

“Harwy!” Lux exclaimed and I smiled lightly at my niece.

“Is that the curly haired lad that I met last year and the lad you have wrapped around your finger Luxie?” I asked and she just grinned widely.

“Of course,” Lou said laughing at her daughter, “she’s got all of them wrapped around her finger. Liam’s excited to finally meet you too.”

I had met four-fifths of the infamous One Direction when Lou and the lads were in LA on their last tour. I had a day off and they were doing one of their many shows in LA. Liam was out and about doing something but I couldn’t remember exactly what it was but I got to really know Niall, Harry, Louis, and Zayn. I also got to meet Perrie and Eleanor as well. All of the lads and their girlfriends were so down to earth that it was awesome. I text the lads occasionally since then but I knew Lou called them the minute we decided about where I was staying. Tom, Lou, and I talked about the new things in their lives while we pulled up into the car park and Lux starting getting excited.

“Harwy!” she squealed and I laughed as I grabbed her.

“I’ll grab the bags Tris,” Tom said, “You, Lou, and Lux go on up to the flat. Make sure you take the lift.”

“Thank you Tom,” I said as we got out of the car and I kissed his cheek, “You’re the bestest future brother-in-law ever!”

I then grabbed Lux and she squealed.

“Should we race Mum baby doll?” I asked, “First one to the fourth floor wins?”

“Yes!” Lux exclaimed and we took off.

We were just sliding in front of Lou’s and Tom’s flat when Lou came out of the lift and I was breathing hard while Lux and Lou laughed at me.

“You are so out of shape love,” Lou said as she unlocked the door.

“I am not,” I huffed, “I just could use the stairs more.”

Lou just laughed at me as we walked in and I set Lux down and she rushed off because we saw a flash of blonde.

“Ni!” she exclaimed and Lou and I looked at each other.

“Lux,” I said and I followed after her as Lou rushed into the kitchen and I saw her run into the guest room, “Beautiful girl?!”

I heard her giggles and I heard whispering. I opened the bathroom door to not find her.

“I’m going to find you,” I said as I walked into my room and I heard giggling.

I then walked to the closet and no one was in there.

“Come out, come out, wherever you are,” I sang and I heard giggling and then Lux hugged my legs.

I spun around and grabbed her and threw her into the air.

“There you are!” I exclaimed and she just laughed.

“Surprise!” I heard guys’ voice and I spun around to find five lads all hiding on one side of the bed.

“Hey everyone,” I laughed as I was wrapped in hugs by all four boys.

“Me down,” Lux said and I put her down and she ran out into the kitchen.

“I take it your flight went well then?” Niall asked as we walked out of the room.

“Yes,” I laughed as we walked in, “It went by pretty quickly.”

“So where’s this Liam character?” I asked as I found the couch and plopped down on it.

“Running late which is unusual for him,” Harry said, “He’s always on time.”

The door then opened and Tom came in with one bag and another boy who was also very attractive with brown hair and eyes to match came in with the other bag. I quickly stood up and grabbed my bags from them.

“Tom if you were having trouble you should’ve called me,” I said, “You stubborn Brit.”

“It’s fine Tris, Liam came by to help,” he said and I rolled my eyes and I grabbed the bag from the other boy.

“Hi I’m Tris, Lou’s younger sister,” I said.

“Nice to finally meet you,” Liam said and we smiled at each other.

“Well thank you for helping Tom,” I said as I tried to grab the bag from him.

“I can follow you to the guest room,” he said and I nodded my head.

We walked down the hallway and I heard footsteps running after us.

“Liam!” Lux exclaimed and Liam spun around to pick up the two year old.

“Hey there beautiful girl,” Liam grinned at her, “Are you excited to have Auntie Tris here?”

“Yes!” she exclaimed and I just laughed.

“Well I’m happy to see you beautiful girl,” I smiled at Lux and she just grinned wider.

“You call her beautiful girl too,” Liam said and I smiled and nodded my head.

“Always have,” I replied as we put my bags in the room, “Because it’s the truth.”

“Ris!” she said and I grabbed her out of Liam’s arm.

“Well I can see what family she gets her looks from,” Liam said and I smiled lightly.

“So you’re the one with manners in the group,” I said and Liam laughed.

“They don’t call me Daddy Direction for nothing,” he said as we laughed walking into the living room to find everyone staring at us.

“What?” I asked confused.

“Nothing,” Lou smirked and I knew that smirk.

It was the smirk that she was going to try and get me and Liam to start dating and I gave her a wary look. I put Lux down and she bounded to Harry and crawled up onto his lap. Harry was her godfather while I was her godmother. Why Lou didn’t ask Sam is something I’ll never understand but Sam wasn’t hurt at all about it. I remember her telling me that she was now off the hook for being in charge of spoiling her so much. I plopped on the couch next to Lou and she was about to start talking when Sam burst into the flat.

“Now where is my younger sister!?” Sam exclaimed and I grinned widely.

“Sammie your hair is blue and purple,” I giggled as we hugged tightly not caring that everyone was watching us.

“You dyed your tips blue,” she squealed, “I love it! God I missed you kid.”

“Sam you’re like ten years older than me,” I groaned and she just laughed.

“Which means your kid,” she laughed at me, “Now tell me all about your American adventures in LA.”

We had plopped down on the couch and that’s what we did for the rest of the night. I updated everyone about my life in LA and everything that was new with me and Lou, the lads, and Sam did the same thing. We had ordered takeaway for dinner and just hung out. It was definitely much needed because when I came back for Christmas things were a bit hectic and we all didn’t really get to catch up because Lou and Sam didn’t come home until Christmas Day and then they had to go back to London. After hours of talking, everyone was kind of in their own separate conversations among the flat while I was just watching Lux play with her toys. I was taken out of my thoughts when Liam came and sat down next to me.

“Beer or water love?” he asked.

“Water please,” I replied and he smiled handing me a water and I thanked him.

“No problem love,” he smiled, “So you missed home?”

“Like crazy,” I laughed lightly, “I bet you miss home a lot.”

“Sometimes,” he said looking at his beer bottle and then looked over at me and smiled lightly, “It’s not too bad.”

“Now I know you’re trying to convince both you and me,” I laughed lightly.

“So I might be,” Liam laughed lightly.

“So Lou said you start tour soon,” I said not knowing exactly what to talk about.

Lou said that Liam was a bit more reserved and I guess in some ways more judgmental about other people outside of their group. He was warier about others being introduced to the lads because of what had happened with some relationship he had in between Danielle and Sophia. Apparently the girl came into their lives and left Liam pretty scarred. Lou said it was a main reason why him and Sophia didn’t work out too well either. She said that the girl who dated him made him fall in love with her and then she broke up with him after she had her fifteen minutes of fame and since then he’s never been the same.

“We start practice in a few weeks,” he said quietly, “We don’t officially start tour until April but until then its all press to advertise it, planning the set lists with the rest of tour, and practicing the small amount of dancing we do.”

“Sounds like a hectic three months,” I said, “I bet you boys are super dedicated though.”

“It is,” he replied, “but we all love it.”

“I can tell,” I replied smiling lightly at my water bottle, “I’ve seen a lot of videos of you boys and you can just tell you boys love your jobs.”

Liam just smiled and blushed at my comment and I smiled lightly at him. I then stood up and put my hand out to help him up. Liam looked at me weirdly but grabbed it.

“What are you doing?” he asked.

“We should go join the adults,” I said looking into the kitchen to see the lads, Lou, Sam, and
Tom all looking over at us, “Before they assumed you asked me for my hand in marriage.”

Liam just laughed at me and we headed into the kitchen to talk with the rest of the adults. Liam and I had been sitting at the table in the kitchen listen to the talk amongst Tom and Harry. I had my head on my arms partly paying attention and partly sleeping when I felt Lou pull me out of my chair and dragged me into the living room where Sam was sitting on the couch smirking at me.

“What?” I whined, “I was quietly sleeping.”

“What’s going on with Liam?” Lou asked and I shrugged my shoulders and plopped down on the couch.

“We’re getting to know each other,” I replied closing my eyes putting my head in Sam’s lap and lying down on the couch.

“Well I haven’t seen Liam this civil to people in a long time,” Lou said, “Well new people anyway. What did you two talk about?”

“Tour,” I yawned, “He said what’s next on the lads agenda before tour officially starts. I told him I could tell him and the lads enjoyed their jobs and then we came into the kitchen. So sorry to disappoint you Lou but he didn’t ask for my hand in marriage.”

“Beatrice,” Lou scolded and I furrowed my eyebrows, I hated my full name.

“Lou,” I said warningly and she sighed.

“Sorry Tris,” she said, “I just don’t want you to get hurt because Liam is still healing and I don’t want him to get anymore hurt.”

“I know Lou but we’re both adults,” I yawned, “Breathe.”

I really didn’t hear Lou’s response because I soon let the dark consume and I finally fell asleep after many hours of traveling.
