Disappointments

“ You’re leaving again?” My professor looks up at me, disappointment etched in his face.
I nod and smile, hoping his mood will lighten up.
“ Nina you are incredibly bright, you have top marks in the class I don’t understand why you are always absent”
I frown “ There’s allot going on in my life”
“ Many people would kill for the education you are getting here, but I feel your responsibilities lye else where, are you serious about getting your English degree?” He rests his fingers on the bridge of his nose, face wrinkled and eyes creased.
“ I’m more than serious about getting it, these absences will stop you have my word” I nod stupendously over and over.
“ This better be the last time” He warns me sternly.

“ Nina, our first team practice is this weekend” Luke, the youngest coach on the team scolds me. I sigh
“ I’m sorry, it’s just a practice, I’ll make all the one’s next week you have my word” His blue eyes look down at me filled with uneasiness
“ Next week, you better be at every practice or I’ll have no choice but to replace you”
I smile largely at him “ Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you” I speak quickly before jumping into his arms for a friendly hug.
“ Now go have fun in London” He laughs at me as I leave the field. Yeah… London’s just going to be a blast. Tia forced me to go, she bought my ticket and I couldn’t say no because of that whole argument we got into. I’m nervous about seeing Harry, I don’t know if I’m ready to face that.

“ Nina, we’re going to be late for our flight!” Tia yells at me for the millionth time. I roll my eyes “ I’ll be five minutes” quickly I sprint into the bathroom to change. (http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=80375737 )
“ Hmm very retro” Tia comments on my outfit as I slip on my shoes.
“ I got this” Niall takes my small suitcase out of my hands and into his.
“ Yeah Lou we’re all coming back” Niall speaks into his phone from the front seat of the cab.
“ Yes even Nina” He pauses “ I don’t know if he knows” “ I have to go, we’re almost at the airport”
As soon as we get out of the car we’re bombarded with photographers and fans. Niall takes hold of Tia’s hand and leads her through the crowd. I swallow, I’m use to Harry being here when these things happen.

The flight was too quick, it always is, but this time I didn’t sleep, I stayed wide-awake the whole time.
“ I should check into a hotel” I mumble as we grab our bags. Niall looks taken back
“ Nonsense, you’ll stay at the complex with the rest of us” Niall says frowning. I shake my head.
“ No, I think it’ll be better if I don’t”
“ Nina, you don’t have to do this” Tia takes my hand and I give her a weak smile
“ Please, I want to stay at a hotel” I glance at Nialls impassive face “ Please” I repeat myself he nods “ Alright, alright, we’ll take you to check into a hotel” He puts his hands up.
“ I can take a cab to a hotel Niall, I’m not a child” I laugh to lighten the mood he seems resistant about that idea.
“ Fine, but when Harrys mad Its your fault not mine” I scoff, it’s always my fault he’s mad so mine as well be here too.
“ Call me when you get to your hotel okay?” Tia rubs my shoulder
“ I will, are you sure you don’t want to stay with me?” I say hopefully
“ Niall says his apartment has two extra bedrooms, it would be foolish to spend more money on a hotel room”
“ I’ll call you” I hug her quickly as the cabs pull up.

Harry’s P.O.V
I hear the front door open and close. I hop up and run to the foyer.
“ Tia?” I stare confused at the girl standing beside Niall.
“ Hello Harry” She says coolly.
“ NIALLER” Louis screams from behind me before running into his arms.
“ TIALLER” He says when he realizes she’s there. I scan the rest of the room, looking for her. Disappointment sweeps through me when I realize she’s not here.
“ Is um is Nina here?” I ask quietly
“ She’s staying at a hotel” Tia says, her tone impassive. Why wouldn’t Nina tell me she was coming.
“ What hotel?”
“ I don’t know she hasn’t called yet”

“ Harry, you need to relax. Your birthday is in less than 12 hours” Zayn pats my back.
“ I can’t relax, not while she’s upset at me” I speak honestly. I can’t relax when Nina is here and not with me.
“ Give her time, she’s here for your birthday which means she’ll come see you at one point or another”
“ What if she doesn’t?”
“ Why else would she be here?” His eyes flash concern. I give him a small tight smile.
“ Thanks Zayn”

Nina’s P.O.V
I walk down the street to the complex, weather I was ready to or not, I promised Tia I would come to say happy birthday to Harry at midnight.
I move my shaky hand to the door and knock on it three times.
“ Nina! Tia told me you were coming” Liam answers and engulfs me in an embrace.
“ Where is everyone?” I look around
“ All at Harrys apartment” He leads me the familiar way up a flight of stairs.
“ Look who’s here” He announces as he opens the door.
Harrys P.O.V
She stands there, looking beautiful. I gulp as her eyes cross with mine, quickly she averts them. I cant hide my disappointment.
“ Nina” Dani and El shout, running in her direction. Everything moves in slow motion, she takes three steps in the door and the group invades her space with hugs and I miss you.
“ Nina come sit down” Zayn moves from his spot beside me to one across the room, she has no choice but to sit beside me. She glides over, my eyes skim along her body, she looks amazing.
She sits and turns to me “ Happy birthday Harry” to anyone else, her voice sounds normal, but not to me. She’s hurt, broken and it’s my fault. A smile breaks across her face, but its not a Nina smile, it’s a fake smile, one I haven’t seen before and frankly seeing it scares the shit out of me.
