Lucie’s P.O.V.

The 1,5 week from New York till Los Angeles were over before we knew it. In those 1,5 week we had also visited Washington and San Francisco and now we were finally in LA! We were one day earlier than expected and Iris and I were now walking around the Staples Center, where all the boys were. They had four gigs in LA and tonight would be the second. We hadn’t told them we were earlier because we wanted to surprise them. A security man was walking with us to bring us to the boys. The Staples Center was so big. You could seriously get lost here if you didn’t know where you had to be. “Here it is”, the security man said while pointing at a door which said One Direction. “Obvious”, I said grinning. We thanked him and slowly opened the door. The boys were all sitting in front of the TV, playing videogames and shouting so hard. Luckily they wouldn’t see and hear us. “C’mon guys. You really gotta do some…”, Perrie started as she walked in from another room, but fell quiet as she saw me and Iris standing. I gestured her not to say anything. “Uh, you have been playing videogames all day already. You should get ready for tonight’s gig”, she continued. “Why?”, Louis asked, “It’s only 4pm. We still have like four hours to go.” At that moment Iris and I slowly walked towards the boys. I looked at Iris and she counted till three on her hand. At three we started shouting really hard. They all jumped up from their couch. They immediately turned their heads around and Iris and I stood there grinning from ear to ear. “Surprise!”, Iris said smiling. Niall and Harry got up from the couch immediately and ran over to us. Niall hugged me and lifted me in the air. “I have missed you so much!”, he said while smiling big. “I missed you too”, I said grinning and kissed him. When Niall put me down, I walked over to all the other boys and Perrie to give them a hug as well. “You’re finally back!”, Louis said. “You look truly happy to see us back”, I said laughing. “I am”, he said pouting, like I insulted him. “Where are El and Jennifer?”, Iris asked. “They are getting food for tonight since we can’t get out of the arena normally”, Harry said with a grin. “I will call them to tell they need to bring some more”, Liam said as he pulled his phone out of his pocket. “Hey El! You need to bring some more food for tonight since we’re having unexpected guests. No, you’ll see who they are when you’re back. Yes, you know them and you really like them. I have to go now. See you in a bit.” “She was so confused”, Liam said laughing. “She always wants to know everything. Unfortunately for her now”, Louis added grinning. “Are Ashton, Micheal, Luke and Calum already here?”, I asked. Iris and I had never met them before, but I really wanted to. “They are still in the hotel. They will arrive just before the show starts”, Zayn answered. “What do you wanna do before our show?”, Harry asked. “Is there even much to do besides playing videogames?”, Iris responded laughing. The boys looked at each other and started laughing. “Uuuh, not really”, Niall said blushing. He is so cute when he blushes. “What were you playing?”, I asked. “Mario Kart”, Louis answered grinning. “Oooh let’s do this! I will beat you all in Mario Kart!”, I exclaimed. The boys started laughing again. “No jokes. No one can beat Lucie in Mario Kart”, Iris said in all seriousness. “Iris and me against Harry and Niall”, I dared the boys. “Dare accepted”, Harry responded. “We’re baaaack!”, a familiar voice shouted. Iris and I jumped up from the couch. “JENNIFER!”, Iris shouted. We ran over to Jennifer and both hugged her at the same moment. Iris and I had missed her so much. Crazy how good friends you can become in only a few weeks. “I missed you so much!”, Jennifer exclaimed. “We missed you too!”, Iris responded smiling. “What about me?”, Eleanor said pouting. “Oh come here. We missed you too”, Iris said as she pulled her in a big hug. I started laughing and gave Eleanor a hug as well. “Well, Lucie and Iris, are you still coming or are you afraid to lose?”, Niall shouted from the couch. “Afraid of losing? You’re so funny. Let this game begin”, Iris said and we walked back to the couch. “We were just about to play Mario Kart”, I explained grinning to Eleanor and Jennifer. I sat down on the couch between Iris and Niall. “We’re so gonna beat you”, I said while looking seriously at Niall. One minute later we were all racing like it was a matter of life or death. Iris and I were on top, but Niall and Harry were so close. Suddenly Niall gave me a push and the controller fell out of my hands. “Niall!”, I shouted indignantly. I looked at Niall and tried to look angry, but he looked at me smiling and I just couldn’t resist that cute face of him. I slapped him on his arm and I picked up my controller, but it didn’t matter anymore because Harry and Niall had won the game. “We woooooon!”, Niall exclaimed. “Only because you couldn’t win without eliminating me”, I said pouting. “I’m sorry”, he said. “No, you’re not”, I responded. He suddenly gave me a quick kiss on my cheek which caused me to smile. “Forgiven?”, he said while looking at me with puppy eyes. “How could I ever resist your eyes and lips”, I said grinning. After that we played some more Mario Kart with different teams until the boys had to get ready for their gig. Ashton, Luke, Michael and Calum still hadn't arrived. “Where are they?”, Iris asked Liam, who couldn’t stop checking his phone. “I have no idea. I can’t reach them”, he responded worried. At that moment his phone started ringing. He picked up immediately. “Cal, where the hell are you guys? You have to be on stage in less than an hour! What!? You've got to be kidding me. No no, what can we do without you guys? Is it seriously taking that long? Fuck. Yes, we’ll try to come up with a solution. Hope to see you soon. Bye.” “What’s wrong?", Zayn asked. “They’re stuck in a traffic jam... There was an accident in front of them”, Liam said sighing. Harry started groaning. “And now?”, Louis asked. “Maybe they can make it to the second half of the opening act, but what do we have to do about the first 30 minutes?” “Lucie and Iris can fill the first 30 minutes. They are amazing singers”, Niall suggested. “No no no, we’re not gonna sing in front of 20.000 people. And besides that, we don't have a song and look at our clothes”, I responded. “It’s actually a pretty good idea”, Louis said. “But we can’t force them”, Harry added. “You can do one of your own covers from your band or do a cover from a song you both know really well. Clothes can be arranged and yeah, about the 20.000 people... Just imagine they’re all in their underwear”, Louis suggested. “Louis! Again, we can’t force them”, Liam said. “Wait, we actually do have a song, besides our One Direction covers”, Iris said while looking at me. “Oh yes, we do?”, I asked confused. “Yeah, the one we wrote ourselves for music class! It's a cover from Airplanes by Hayley Williams and B.O.B.”, Iris explained. “That’s actually so genius, but it’s only one song and I don't remember the lyrics anymore”, I responded. “I saved the lyrics on my phone and we could also do two other songs?”, she suggested. “But which on...”, I interrupted myself, “Run The World and Skyscraper!” These were two of our favourite jams. “So, are you really okay with it then?”, Niall asked us. “I don’t know, it could be a nice experience. But how are we gonna get other clothes?”, I responded. “Lou always has tons of suitcases with her and also with lots of girls stuff”, Liam said. 30 minutes later Iris and I had completely changed. We had chosen our clothes, with some help from Jennifer, Eleanor and Perrie, and Lou did our hair and makeup. In the meantime we had learned and practised the lyrics from our cover of Airplanes. “I’m still pretty nervous”, Iris said. “Okay girls. It’s time to get on stage”, Liam said smiling. We all walked behind the stage. “You’re gonna be fine. You two are amazing, so don’t worry”, Zayn reassured us. I gave Niall a quick kiss on the lips and so did Iris with Harry before we entered the stage. When we came up to the stage, I saw many surprised faces. “Hello guys ! I know we are not what you expected, but unfortunately the boys of 5 Seconds Of Summer are stuck in a traffic jam, so they couldn’t make it to the first part of the opening act. That’s why we are standing here. I am Iris and this is Lucie. We’re from Paris and we’re friends of the One Direction boys. We're going to do some songs for you until 5 Seconds Of Summer is here! I hope you will enjoy it!”, Iris said to the big crowd. “They are Niall’s and Harry’s girlfriends!”, I heard someone screaming from the crowd. I smiled. “The first one is a cover of Airplanes by Hayley Williams and B.O.B., but we made our own lyrics to this song. It’s called If I Could”, I said before starting the song. The band started playing and we both started singing. This was actually such a hard song, not because of the vocals, but it was hard to get the perfect timing. Only in the chorus we had to sing, the rest of the song was rapping. The first rap was my part. When it was time for me to start rapping, I totally burst out, like there were fireworks coming out of my chest. Yeah I could use some love, a hug or a kiss. Just to know all the stuff in life I miss. After all the fights, the crying and the swearing. And all the bad things that happened so imagine. I didn’t know it felt so good to perform on a stage in front of 20.000 people. I gave everything that was inside of me. The loss, the hate and fading passion. It’s like you’re locked up in an empty mansion. And when you're staring at the bright white wall. And thinking about the time you had it all… I continued rapping like everything depended on this moment. And actually it did, because what if people would notice us? This could be a start of something new. Singing has always been our passion and apparently so was performing as well. I could do this every night. I understand why the boys love their job so much, obviously. They make girls happy everyday just by standing on this stage and even if they screwed up, it wouldn’t matter. Their fans support them through anything. When Iris started rapping I looked at her. I could see on her face she loved doing this. We were both having the time of our lives. I looked at the crowd. They were enjoying it and that made me smile. When the song was over, I started speaking: “I really hope you liked this song! Iris and I wrote this song a few years ago for music class and we put all our feelings into it. At school we have our own band with two other girls – by the way also Directioners – and we made several covers of One Direction songs. We’re not doing any of them tonight, since you’ll see them perform later, so our next two songs are covers of Run The World by Beyoncé and Skyscraper by Demi Lovato. Enjoy!”

“You were amazing!”, Harry exclaimed as Iris and I got backstage. We had performed the two songs and now it was the turn of Luke, Michael, Calum and Ashton. “You are allowed to do that more often. The crowd loved it!”, Louis said smiling. “When we’re becoming big superstars, you can’t just ask that. You’ll have to call our manager three months before the concert”, Iris responded, sounding very serious. We all laughed. “We were just wondering. What do you wanna do tomorrow?”, Zayn asked Iris and me. “Let’s go on a five double date!”, I suggested grinning. “To where?”, Niall asked. “What’s there to do in LA?”, Iris responded. “Too much”, Niall said. Suddenly an idea popped into my head. “Wait, there’s the Universal Studios that we can visit, right?”, I asked. “Yes, do you wanna go there?”, Liam responded. “Yeah, it seems nice to me, but I’m not the only one to choose”, I said smiling. “I like it”, Iris said and the others nodded in agreement. I knew Iris would like it because she’s always wanted to go there. We are both totally crazy about series and movies. We could watch them all day. “We’ve actually never been there ourselves”, Louis noticed. “Then let’s do it!”, Harry exclaimed. “But first, let’s play a show!”, Liam responded smiling. “At what time do you have to get on stage?”, I asked. “Oh, we still have an hour”, Liam answered. I really hoped this hour would pass quickly, because I couldn’t wait to see them on stage again. The concert in Chicago was already three weeks ago, but it felt like a lifetime. There has happened so much in the meantime.

“Wake up! We’re going to the Universal Studios today!”, I exclaimed by waking Iris. “Oh yes!”, she responded brightly. We rushed into our clothes really fast – we already chose them last night – and applied some makeup. Just the natural look. We would be spending the whole day together. I was so excited. “I hope we have some time left and can also visit the beach”, Iris said. “There’s always a tomorrow”, I said smirking. “What a deep philosophy on this early morning”, she responded laughing. We would meet all the others at the Universal Studios because we were staying at different hotels this time. We took a cab to the studios. “Whoa, this is huge”, Iris said with big eyes as we stepped out. I nodded in agreement. We saw all the others standing across the street and we walked over to them. “Are you ready?”, Niall asked me. “Always”, I answered smiling. He took my hand and we all walked inside. Universal Studios produced some really big movies, like Jurassic Park, King Kong, Bruce Almighty and The Grinch. It was so nice walking around here. We went on a lot of fun rides, which were based on some movies. We all had such a great laugh. I was having a great time. We all were. We also did a tour where I learned things about movies I had never known before. We drove in some sort of train past all the different sets that Universal Studios had. “It’s even an educational trip”, Perrie said laughing like she was reading my mind. “I thought exactly the same”, I responded grinning. I checked my phone. It was already 3pm. The boys had to be back at 5. Time flies when you’re having fun. Even though the Universal Studios are huge, you still wouldn’t expect you can be here all day. At that moment we drove past a set where they were actually shooting a movie right now. Suddenly Iris tapped my shoulder. I looked at her and she had one of those faces. This was the fangirling face. “What’s up?”, I asked confused, “Still fangirling over the boys?”, I continued laughing. “No no no”, she said while pointing at the set. At that moment shit just got real. Zac Efron was standing there. Zac. Freaking. Efron. Zac was our very first celebrity crush since he first appeared in High School Musical. Iris and I still watched the High School Musical movies. We could never get enough of it. The others had noticed too because our mouths had dropped. “Oh no. Not Zac Efron. Aren’t we good enough for you?”, Louis said while faking that he was annoyed. “Boys… They will never understand”, Jennifer responded laughing. “For the record, we all knew Zac Efron before you guys and we were all big fans. So you’ve got some catching up to do”, Iris said smirking, speaking for the girls. Perrie, Jennifer, Eleanor and me laughed and nodded in agreement. Iris and I both grabbed our phone quickly and made a photo of Zac. Just in time, because the ‘train’ kept moving. At that moment someone’s phone beeped. I looked up to see it was Niall’s. As he was reading his message, his face changed. “What’s wrong?”, I asked him worried. “We have to see Simon in his office tomorrow. All of us”, he replied. “What’s so bad about that?”, Iris asked, “I would love to meet him.” I agreed with her. “He has something bad to tell us…”, Niall said slowly. “Don’t worry. How bad can it be?”, I said. We all responded innocently to what Niall said. At this moment we had no idea what bad news Simon had to tell us, but we would find out soon enough…

Finally another one is done! This one also took a little bit longer. I really hope it will go faster from now on !
The song If I Could that Lucie and Iris are performing in this chapter is not a copy from the internet or something, but me and some other friends actually wrote this song ourselves for school. One of them wrote the whole rap part and I think she did an amazing job. I only put a few lines of the song in the story, but there is more. When I wrote the first chapter of this story, I said in the note that none of the events have really happened (of course), but that Lucie and Iris are almost the same persons as in reality. Which isn't completely true, because in reality, I am a terrible singer. I still sing all day long when I am in my room, but I think it's unbearable. This only applies to me, because in reality, Lucie is an amazing singer as well. (She will probably deny it when she reads this, but yes it's true). About 5 or 6 months ago she did some covers and put them on soundcloud. Unfortunately they're only 3 (I'm dying to hear more), but they really gave me shivers. You should really check them out:
