As Fragile as Glass

I woke up completely and utterly confused. Where the hell was I? This was most certainly not my bed. Memories of yesterday came back reminding me where I was. I groaned. I fucking hate mornings. Ugh what time was it? I looked at the bedside table trying to find my alarm clock when I mentally face palmed. Duh. I don't have one yet I got to go buy one. God I really hated mornings especially Monday mornings but hey! I get to go shopping today. Awesome. I got out of bed and looked at myself in the mirror. Holy shit! I looked bad. It's the fucking Monday curse. Almost everything bad happens to me on a Monday. I go to the kitchen and look for something to eat. I open a few cabinets until... JACKPOT! I found doughnuts. Who doesn't like doughnuts? I grabbed two, put them in a napkin, and climbed onto the kitchen counter to eat my doughnuts. I had almost finished eating my doughnuts when Liam walked in. He looked at me and did a double take.

"What the hell are you doing Summer? You know there are chairs right?"

He wasn't being mean it was just that he was actually curious as to why I was sitting Indian style on the counter eating.

I just shrugged and said,"Eating is a process. This is how I process."

He shook his head and laughed.

"Your weird."

I smiled.

"I am the queen of weird btw so respect my weirdness. So when you going to take me to the mall?"

He sat down in one of the chairs and took on a more serious tone.

"Uh actually I need to talk to you about that. I have to go to work today and someone has to watch you..."

I rolled my eyes.

"I'm not a child Liam. I am mature enough to go to the mall by myself."

"That's not the reason why."

"Then why the hell can't I go to a fucking store by myself?!" I yelled starting to get frustrated.

"Look I'll tell you but you have to understand that there are reasons behind me being a part of what I'm part of."

I looked at him waiting for him to explain.

He sighed and said,"I'm the co-leader of one of the gangs in town and not having any family meant no weaknesses but having you here makes you a weakness because you are my sister and I obviously care about you so if our rival gang got ahold of you they could hurt you. Just to get to me so you need someone with you at all times to make sure your safe. Oh and I also have a fight club but that shouldn't cause any problems."

I felt my jaw drop. I tried to process all of this at once. He is a leader of a gang? I'll need someone with me at all times? What the fuck? See all bad things happen to me on Mondays.

The only words I could manage to say through my shock were,"Fuck Mondays."
