Tattooed Heart **ON HOLD**

✉️Chapter 1✉️

Rosie's POV
"Where are you?" El squealed on the phone as my plane was unboarding. I looked up and saw a gate that read '22'. British accents filled the busy airport and rushing people carelessly bumped into me. The occasional 'sorry' was exchanged, but I'm just so happy to be here, I feel as if I have no cares in the world.

Being flown out from California and across the world to London had the feeling of a weight being lift off my shoulders. After nineteen years of my parent's constant rule and strict religion, I was finally fed up. I guess my straight A's and scholarships weren't good enough for them. I guess I'm a big disappointment to them.
I shook my head at the thoughts racing through my head. My wavy brown hair flopped in my mouth, and I blew it out, due to the fact that my hands were full with my carry on's. My parents have my other three sisters to worry about, I'm grown up. I can take care of myself.

I held my phone between my shoulder and and ear. "Gate 22, El" I told her. I shut my eyes for a second as she let out her signature 'El squeal'. The memories of my phone calls and vacations with her popped through my head. I smiled at the old thought, but it was soon ruined by the remembrance of my parents constant downing of our friendship.

"She's no good for you!"
"She'll bring you down!"
"She's just a piece of British trash!"

My grip tightened around my bags as the yelling and trashing of her replayed. No matter how much my parents loathed our relationship, we stayed strong.

"Oh! I see it. I'll be right there!" She said excitedly.

I chuckled a little and placed down my bags to hang up. The screensaver of us shined brightly on my phone. I smiled at it. At least I had El for me. I never realized why I was always the 'horrible' child in my family, I lived up to there expectations, and always followed the rules. Or at least until a few years ago when their religious abusive language and attitude towards me became played out, and I just gave up.

I picked up my bags, and sluggishly walked over to a more viewable sight for El to see me. I found the perfect spot, and headed towards it.

In one swift motion, I tripped over myself and my bags flew in every direction. In reaction, my fast reflexes kicked in, and my arms barred my face. I fell face forward on my bare arms, roughly. I winced as the intensity of pain rushed through my body. Yep, that'll leave a bruise.

"Rose!" El squealed with excitement as she ran over to me, picking up my stray bags as she jogged along.

"It's so good to see you again!" She said picking me up, and pulling me into a huge hug.

I winced, but wrapped my arms around her. "You too El. It's been too long"

She pulled away, and smiled. She started to ramble about things we could do, and what places to shop, her strange habit when she's overly happy.

I giggled at her, and gathered my things, trying to catch up to her fast walking. She pulled my luggage behind her, once in a while flipping her dark drown curls out of her face.

People glanced at me strangely as I tripped and stumbled behind her. She continued her happy ramble oblivious to my rare groans and mumbles. El can have great intentions, but she can be a tad oblivious.

After ages, or at least what felt like it, we arrived at her car, A black jeep. She popped open the trunk, and tossed my bags in carelessly. I slightly scowled at her messiness, and my ache to clean and straighten her trunk kicked in. I picked up ripped up and dirty paper towels, and plain paper towel rolls, along with stray tops and jeans and put them in folded piles, garbage and non-garbage.

"What are you doing back there?" She whined a little, her British accent thick and her light voice flooding through my ears.

"Oh...umm" I stuttered as I scanned her new cleaner trunk.

She hopped out and walked back to me and giggled. She picked up the bags I didn't put in, and she carelessly threw them in again. Before I could protest or tidy it, she dragged me to the front and pushed me in.

She kept her brown eyes on the road, rarely glancing over at me as I started out the window and marveled at the beauty of London.

"How was the plane ride?" She said trying to stop my deep thought.

"Fine. Except for this guy who kept checking me out. He asked for my number twice" I giggled.

"Oh and what did you say?" She asked sarcastically.

"None of your damn business" I said seriously.

She shook her head. "Rose" I smiled to myself. The way she called me Rose, always made me happy. That was the only good thing my parents did for me. The rose was always my favorite flower. It's beauty and petals always mystified and interested me. El waved her hand in front my face, distracting me.

"Rosie?" She asked.

"Oh yeah?" I snapped back to reality. "Sorry what'd you say?"

"You can't always reject every guy you meet. Was he cute at least?" She questioned.

"Ehh he was ok. Like I told you before, when I like a guy I meet, than we'll take it from there" I shyly smiled. El knew what I thought, and that was my intention. I promised myself never to let anyone take advantage of me and that was final.

I looked over at El, and saw her face drain a little from her pale color. She was focused on something on the side of the road.

I turned my head, and saw a group of guys huddled together on the sidewalk. Smoke illuminated and slowly rose in the air above them. Broken and cracked beer bottled were displayed around them. My eyes slightly widened at the scene occurring in front of me. Things like that never happened at home. But I was never really happy at home, so I shouldn't be complaining.

El rolled up to a red light, and cars soared back and forth in front of me. I looked out the window again, my head fully turned now. I noticed El typing furiously on her phone out of the corner of my eye.

My eyes wondered over each one of them. I was always good as counting numbers and examining people or things.

There was approximately seven of them, covered in tattoos and piercings. If they weren't so punked out, they would all be quite good looking. Guys with piercings and tattoos aren't really a turn on for me.

Two girls, also covered in tattoos and piercings walked over to them, and sat on whom I am guessing, their boyfriend's laps. Both of them were beautiful, but hid it with the permanent ink all over their body.

I watched as the blonde one said something, and another with brown hair and light eyes threw his head back and laughed. The car was to far away to really define their features. The rest chuckled, trying not to break into laughter.

Either this is a really long light, or it just feels it is. I looked down at my lap, than back up. My brown eyes once again wondered around their little 'gang'. One with curly brown hair in a quiff, glanced up, my way. My eyes widened a little more as I stared at the boy. His facial features as far as I could tell were astounding, and his light eyes were different than any of the other's.

His eyes soon found me, and scanned my body that could be shown, which was my chest and up. As soon as he found my face he licked his lips, and stood up, heading my way. He mumbled something over his shoulder to everyone. They all nodded and continued with their conversation. One of the guys patted him on the back and gave him a thumbs up.

My eyes were fully wide now, as I noticed him walking over to the car. El looked over at my stare on the mysterious boy, and gasped. She checked to make sure the car was locked, and gripped the wheel tight. Her actions began to worry me, as she turned from happiness to fear.

The boy slowly walked over. Just in my luck, the light turned green, and El sped off as fast as she could go under the speed limit. I giggled. Even when scared, she was always aware of the law and rules.

"Who was that? Who were they?" I asked, full of questions about what I just witnessed. The sidewalks were full of people, but not like them.

The way people crossed the street and never walked past them, had me wondering. Why were people avoiding them?

"Uhh, Rose for you safety and mine, just stay away from them." She said sternly.

"But-"

She cut me off from my sentence. "I'm serious. I know what your like and I just hope you'll listen to me and stay away from them. All of them. They might seem nice, and charming, and funny, but they're pure trouble. And I promise you that" She said lightly peeking over at me.

I knew better than to argue with El when she's this serious. All I could get out was a small, "ok". My head was full of thoughts about the small encounter I just watched.

"Ok now that we set those rules" She giggled. "You know I work at Hollister, my next shift starts in two days, so when I go back we can find you a job at the mall so we can be close together!" She did her 'El' squeal again.

We finally pulled up to her small apartment. "Yea, that sounds great" I yawned.

We got out of her jeep, and I went to the back for my bags.

"Don't, we'll get them tomorrow. We're both tired" she yawned.

I nodded and walked up to her apartment. She opened the door, and led me to my room, which fit my taste perfectly. Before I could remark or say 'Thank you El for giving me a home and not making me homeless' she walked out and went to her room.

I shrugged and stumbled to the bed laid out in the middle of the room, against one of the walls. I smiled to myself as I cuddled into to soft and puffy blanket. My life was finally getting a fresh start, and I wouldn't ruin it, especially to talk to some guys covered in tattoos and horrid piercings.
