Shattered

Was she serious? Yeah, she was. And no, I can't.

" Marilyn... No," I whispered, shaking my head. I pulled my hand back from hers. She slowly sat back in her seat, processing my answer.

" No?" She asked. I nodded.

" No."

Marilyns eyebrows furrowed together.

" Why not?" She asked. I groaned running hands through my hair. I looked out the window we were sitting by and watched a blonde walk by who reminded me somewhat of Sydney.

" Because," I spoke. This was difficult. "You and I don't have that spark anymore, like we used to. Mari, I feel like we've grown apart."

We used to have a spark. Just a spark though. Sydney and I have fireworks.

She nodded and sniffed. "I know, I know. I just didn't want to believe it Harry," she agreed. "I thought by taking another step in our relationship that we could save it, but it's no use. We weren't meant to be." She spoke.

I've only seen Mari cry once, so it surprised me when a tear fell down her cheek. Only to be wiped away by her hand as soon as it fell.

Her response total caught me off gaurd, she was in the same boat I was. She knew that we might as well end things for once and for all.

" I guess that makes ending things a lot easier, huh?" I forced a smile. She forced one with me.

" Yeah. You were a great part of my life Harry, but it's time for our chapter to end." She Laughed. I agreed.

" I feel the exact same way."

She put out her hand over the table. " What do you say? Friends?" She asked. I nodded, putting my hand in hers and shaking it. The contact of our skin didn't give me goosebumps like Syd's did.

" Friends." I announced.

Although I didn't want Marilyn in a romantic way, she still was one of my good friends. We knew too much about eachother to not stay friends.

We hugged one last time before leaving our relationship and going our seperate ways.

• Sydney's pov •

I opened up Chumps with my key. It's becoming a routine. I could serve drinks and clean blindfolded if I had to.

I got here ten minutes early, hoping to see Harry, although knowing him he won't be here early.

I know Harry and Marilyn broke up. They're still friends of course, but I know they broke up. Mari came home and cried. She was happy they ended things, it was just weird without him, She had told me. I had been extremly happy but it had been hard to stay calm around Marilyn.

So now I was here looking for Harry, and to my surprise, he was already there. He must've come in through the back door since I had to unlock the front.

He popped his head up from behind the bar with a wide, cheeky grin on his face when he saw me.

I couldn't stop smiling as I ran to him around the bar and jumped into his embrace.

He caught me as I wrapped my legs around his torso for support.

" I can't believe you guys ended things!" I exclaimed into his neck. He smelled so good.

" I know." He kissed my neck while his face was nuzzled there. I smiled into his skin.

" Now I don't have to feel bad," I Sighed. I hopped down from his strong body and looked at him. Fully looked at him. I took in his beatiful features. His green eyes. His perfectly plump, pink lips. His hair which was down today. I liked when he wore it down, because it's almost never down these days.

" What're you thinking about?" He asked. I smiled.

" You," I teased.

" Aw," He said, leaning foward and kissing my forehead. "How sweet."

" I know."

I surprised him by reaching up on my tiptoes and pressing my lips against his.
