The Little Sister
I was sitting in a chair, watching everyone slowly leave. I saw her little sister, Midnight, talking with some men in black suits. Midnight was a spitting image of Meliday. She was seven. And she already lost her parents. So, stepping in like a big brother, I walked over.
"Hello. What's going on?" I asked, surprisingly calm. They looked at me.
"Since Midnight doesn't have any caretaker anymore, we're trying to find a foster home for her." Foster home?
"That's alright. I can take care of her." They looked at each other.
"Well, there's a lot of legal papers, court dates, and-" One man began.
"That's fine. I'll take care of her until you can find her a permanent home." I said.
"Okay. Fill these out and send them to us." They handed me some paperwork. "We'll have a monthly inspection to see how everything is." I nodded. And managed a weak smile.
"Thank you." They walked away. I looked at her. She was looking at me curiously.
"Why do you want to take care of me? I thought you didn't like me." She said.
"I don't know. Guess its for Meliday. She wouldn't want you in foster care." She nodded. And we headed for my car.
Oh my god!!! This is so SAD!!!!
