Free Falling
Chapter 5
It has been 5 weeks since we went back to school and we have seemed to get into a little bit of a routine. Go to school, struggle through the day, go home(not expecting dad to be there), do homework, eat, sleep, and repeat. I feel like I am living, without even thinking. I hadn't hung out with my friends once since my mom's death. They are worried, but they don't push it.
Tonight I was sitting upstairs doing my homework. I stood up and looked at myself in the mirror as I pulled my hair up off of my neck. I hear the doorbell ring and Landon yelled, “Got it.” I second later I heard voices and Landon called, “Addi, Kenzie and Layne are here!”
I was surprised to see that they were at my house. They usually just talked to me at school because they knew that my life at home was hard. I heard footsteps running up the stairs and as they turned the corner I was surprised to see that they were wearing cute clothes and makeup.
“Ok Addi, before you say anything, let us talk. We've been worried about you. We know you know that but you need some time alone. The past few months all you've done is thought about others. Landon agrees, he was the one who told us that it was ok for us to do this now. We've been trying to give you time but enough is enough. We're going bowling tonight.” said Layne. She sighed after she finished and she and Mackenzie giggled.
“Ok, I guess, but only for one game.” I didn't even bother arguing because I knew that they wouldn't leave until they were satisfied.
“Ok girl, makeover time.” squealed Mackenzie.
They hurriedly ushered me into some comfy and casual clothes. They curled my hair and applied really neutral makeup and we were ready to go. We hurried out of my house and to the bowling alley. As I walked in I was overwhelmed with the number of people that were there.
“Hey Addi, how've you been?” I heard a familiar voice ask. I turned around to see the boy from the first day of school. How did he remember me, that was over a month ago.
“Um hi, remind me of your name, sorry?” I stammered. I was embarrassed that I couldn't remember his name. He was just like I remembered. Handsome and charming.
“Don't worry love, it's Harry. Harry Styles.” He said, smirking at me. I blushed and turned away slightly.
“So, you like bowling?” I asked trying to change the subject. He shifted his hand in his pockets and looked into my eyes.
“Yeah, it's always a fun time. Do you want to play me in a ...” he was interrupted by Mackenzie who ran over to me.
“Hey Addi, Mark Vogel from Chemistry wanted to say hi. Let's go!” She squealed pulling me along with her. I glanced apologetically at Harry. He shrugged at me and winked as I disappeared into the crowd.
