Homecoming

Welcome back

Riley's P.O.V

I take a deep breath as I look in the mirror at my outfit. It feels weird to be back in Holmes Chapel after so many years, I wonder if anyone remembers me. I wonder if Harry remembers me, he was like my brother when we were little, I wonder what he looks like now, he must be really good looking. I was looking at the pictures of us as kids just a few days ago and picturing him now. I feel the butterflies in my stomach whirl around. Okay if I don't stop psyching myself out I am definitely going to end up puking before I even get to school. I grab my bag and run down the stairs to greet my parents.

"Good morning mum, morning dad." I greet them as they gather their things for work. I sit at the bottom of the stairs waiting to leave as they continue to scurry around.

"Morning darling." My father greets.

"Morning sweetheart." My mother chimes. "You look lovely. Did you take your pills?" She looks at me as she shrugs on her jacket.

I roll my eyes at her "Of course I did." I say exasperated. She frustrates me so much, she acts like I could forget. I mean who could forget the reminder of how screwed up they really are? I get up and stomp out to the front door. I hear them have a little exchange behind me but I can't make out what they said but I could honestly care less. What a great start to my first day of school.

The car ride to school is pretty painless, it was silent aside from the radio thankfully. My dad pulls up to the school and I couldn't get out quick enough.

"Have a good day love." My father shouts before I slam the door shut. I throw a quick wave back towards the car.

I hear them drive away and I freeze as I reach the stairs to the school. This is it, new school, new start, can't screw this up again. I climb the stairs and walk through the front doors. Have to find the office. I take a look around and turn to my right to find the office is right next me, duh Riley. I smile to myself and shake my nerves.

"Good morning! How can I assist you this morning love?" A quite chipper older woman says. Someone is having a good morning. I smile and approach her desk.

"Um, my name is Riley Starrke. I'm new, so I was told to pick up my schedule on the first day. Sooo, here I am." I explain rather awkwardly. I nervously tuck my hair behind my ear and force a smile.

"Oh! Riley! I've got your schedule right here for you. Here you are." She practically yells, handing me the paper. "There are different wings for each subject, you have English first. The English wing is directly around the corner so you should have no problem finding it. If you need any help finding your classes you just come right to me and I will be more than happy to help you." She beams. She is way too chipper for my liking, but she seems very genuine.

I smile back at her. "Thank you, but I think I can manage." I give her a smile and a wave as I escape the office.

I walk around a bit before finally deciding to find my class. The bell rings as I get to the English wing, whoops late on the first day, oh well. I find my class easily enough, I take one final deep breath before finally walking in. Everyone's eyes fly to me as I walk in and I can feel my cheeks heat up, I hate being the center of attention.

"You must be Riley." The teacher states. I force a smile and nod. I look around nervously trying to find a seat, preferably in the back so I can stay hidden. Mostly everyone has returned to their little side conversations but some have kept their eyes on me. I'm still scanning the room when I meet a pair of piercing green eyes. I focus on the boy and I take in his features. He has a mess of curls on his head and I love his Checkered shirt. Something about him seems vaguely familiar, I feel like I know this green eyed guy. Wait a second, it can't be. I am sure the surprise is evident on my face because he continues to look at me. Holy hell, is that Harry?! I can't stop the smile from creeping on to my face. He looks even better than I have imagined. I can't even comprehend how my childhood friend could have evolved into such a good looking guy. Now that is puberty done right. A smile appears on his face and just when I thought he couldn't look any better his deep set dimples that I remember so well appear on his face. Oh man, the butterflies in my stomach are definitely not going away anytime soon.

The teacher takes notice that I'm still frozen in front of the class and takes liberty of finding a seat for me. "Riley, you can have a seat next to Mr.Styles. Harry raise your hand." There's no need for that because I've had my eyes glued to the boy for a good 5 minutes already, but he gladly obliges, smile still plastered on his face. So much for paying attention in this class.
