Something Great

Lexi's POV

Another night of restless non-sleep. Not only had the pain from our baby, but the constant need to pee, and the anxiety and restlessness of always being in bed.

My stomach grew along with the circle under my eyes. I hated looking in reflections even more now since getting home from the hospital. I can't remember the last time I went outside.

"Sleep well?" Harry asked when the sun finally came up. I thought about lying, telling him I slept great, but after my lovely visit at the hospital I was warned from not telling him things.

"No."

"We should take you to Doctor Renolds again, how much do think you've slept since we got home?"

"Not long."

"I hate to ask this, but you're not not sleeping on purpose are you?"

"Harry, no. How could you think that? I know things have been difficult these last few weeks. I can't see how you'd think that. It really hurts." I looked down knowing he was right to ask that, somethings not right, it hasn't been right in a long time. "I feel different. Not right." I admitted.

Harry got up and walked around the bed to sit next to me.

"It has been really hard, but I am so proud of how far we've come, I'm so proud of you Lexi." On my temple he left a kiss.

"I love you Harry, I do, but you need to get to work." I took his hand and rubbed the back of it with my thumb.

"Right, I could stay home, what's the difference of one day?"

"No, they need you..."

'You need me more."

"I'll be fine, the girls are coming over anyhow, I'll be fine."

"Should I call for another Doctor's appointment?"

"I think, I can do that, but I may forget," I smiled, "so maybe, if you wouldn't mind..."

"Of course baby." I sat up a little, but I was still reclined as Harry ran around the house and room, bringing me something- lots of somethings- to eat. I ate with the TV on as Harry got dressed. He came and kissed me and then left.

Eleanor texted me, but I called her as I wasn't in the mood to type out my response.

"Hey, sorry, I didn't feel like texting. Yeah I think Dani and Perrie are getting here in a couple hours and Sophia wanted to meet me after Dani left, they still don't really get a long."

"Niall asked me to include his new girlfriend." She pretically spit out.

"Niall's got a girlfriend?"

"Yes."

"Finally."

"I know!"

I was excited for him, having only known he'd have feelings for me I was glad to see he was moving on, and finding someone. Niall, when I'd met him he was single, he's always been single. He dated some, but never made it into anything. Part of me was glad, especially in light of what he'd said at my wedding. Knowing he was nice enough to not try anything when he knew I was with Harry.

"So, is she coming with you?"

"I think Niall is bringing her and then he's leaving."

"Oh."

"Her name is Sarah."

"Sarah...." I fell silent thinking about her. What she looked like, probably small. Probably without dark circles around her eyes. Probably perfect for Niall.

"Lex?"

"I'll see you when you get here, wanna just come over now? I've got the house to myself."

"Sure."

Coming out of my Niall trance I was glad she was coming over. I needed her here. TO help me out of bed for one, and for another she was my best friend. And I missed her. Since being married, since her wedding, since all the weddings we've grown apart and I missed her like hell.
She arrived twenty minutes later with some scones and some milk shakes. I gladly consumed them both, while she talked about how her and Louis kept arguing.

"It's weird, they've been home for so long..."

"It's weird at first. They'll be gone before you can blink." I said finishing the last of the pastry.
She helped me stand again. Then she helped me again, this time to the shower. Then- bless her soul- helped me out, and blow dried my hair for me, and picked out my clothes. And finally she helped me down the steps to the couch in the living room.

"Eleanor I can't thank you enough, seriously."

"Babe, I can only hope you'll help me when Louis decides to impregnate me."

"Still not budging?"

They'd been married for about a year, but as everyone knows they've been together for nearly ten years it feels like. It's clear they both one day want a little one running around, but neither have found a good time. El's career just took off and now Zayn, and Harry are busy with their kids Lou's had loads of pressure.

"He proposed right after you got married, and right when you got pregnant we began talking about it again. He doesn't want to steal yours or Perrie's thunder."

"No thunder would be stolen."

The door bell rang.

Eleanor went to get it.

"Hey!" A deep voice threw his hands around the petite girl. Then sort of pushed passed her practically running to me. "Lexi! Oh my god, you gave us quite a scare the other day." Has I really not spoken to him since then?

"Niall, wow. You look good, are you good?"

"I'm fine, how are you, El taking good care of you, how'd you get down here?" Then he hugged me again. "God, Lex. Never scare us again like that."

"You must be Sara?" Eleanor's chipper voice broke Niall's concentration.

"Yes, oh god. Guys, Lexi, Eleanor. This is my girlfriend Sara." He smiled bright. The girl was short, and had random blue streaks in her dark blonde hair. Black skinny jeans, a hoodie.

Relaxed- perfect for Niall.

"Hello." I said putting my hand behind me trying to pry myself from the couch.

"Hey. Sit down." El barked when Niall had his hand and arm out trying to help me.

"Yeah, seriously, Niall told me you're on bed rest." She came to me. She leaned down and wrapped her arms around me. I hadn't been prepared for that.

"I'm Lexi."

"Sara." The stood up straight.

"I'm Eleanor."

"Shouldn't you be to work?"

"Oh yeah, uh lunch break. Harry sends his love, I've got to go back. Have fun with Sara, don't scare her off." He kissed her once more on the forehead and left.

"Niall used to have a massive crush on me!" I yelled out after it had been quiet for a little too long. Both of the girls sitting with me had their eyes wide, and jaw dropped open. i know, I can't believe I just said that either.
