Afraid of Falling in Love

Last First Kiss

Karmina's POV

Karmina dressed Karry in a sweet pink dress Harry had bought for her last week. Her little girl was growing and was gaining weight at a better rate than most premature babies. Karmina knew it probably had to do with the amount of money Harry was spending on that overpriced formula, but she didn't blame him for wanting the best for her. Karmina wanted that, too.She added pink socks to match Karry's white and pink stripped dress. The concert would be starting soon and she wanted to have everything ready for when they would 'talk' later. She didn't know if she should be excited or afraid. All she knew was that having Karry around would make them both feel better. Karmina couldn't decide on an outfit for herself. Usually when they went to the shows they just stayed behind the scenes, no one ever saw them. But their 'talk' had her nervous. She pulled out a mint green flowing dress that had a studded sweetheart top. She hoped her outfit choice could positively sway the outcome of their conversation.

After the first set, Karmina received a note from one of the staff. She instantly recognized Harry's handwriting on the outside.

Karmina,

Sorry, it's going to be a busy night tonight. Meet me at the stage thirty minutes after the show.

Love, Harry

Karmina reread the letter a couple times. It gave away nothing. Sure, he had ended it with love, Harry. But she had been signing her letters that way since the third grade. At the same time, he could've just sent her a text. Why the need for a formal letter? She looked down at Karry who was sitting in her stroller playing with a teething ring.

"What is going on with your Daddy?" She said and Karry answered with a smile. "Yeah, you know he's crazy."

After the show had ended and the crowd faded out Karmina's nerves intensified. Why did they have to talk in the center of the stage? She pushed the stroller out, in where Karry had fallen asleep sometime during Little Things. It was completely dark, except for a few lights scattered through out the back of the arena.

"Harry?" Karmina called out, it was completely silent now. She couldn't even hear the stage crew in the background anymore. "Hello?" Then all of a sudden she heard a thump and one by one the lights flickered on. She starred out to the empty coliseum. A familiar tune began playing behind her and she turned around to see the screen lit up with a building she remembered from Los Angeles.

"Remember this?" Harry's voice echoed through the speakers. "You probably won't remember it very well but I do. It was where my life changed forever. This is where I met you," he added. Karmina smiled, he had never forgotten the details of that night. "We danced to this for a bout a minute before you started laughing at me. Yes, I noticed," Harry laughed over the intercom and Karmina joined him. "But that was just the beginning," his tone serious again. "I knew you different. That chapter is over now, we are at a different point in our lives. Come meet me for a goodnight in Paris." Harry's voiced cut off and Karmina stood there charmed and confused. Meet where? She thought.

"I'm here to take care of Karry," Louis strolled in from stage left. He still wore his last wardrobe change from the concert.

"What?" Karmina couldn't follow.

"He sent me here to watch Karry while you go find him," Louis smiled as he took hold of the stroller. "Go get him. He knows you'll figure out what it means."

"Okay," Karmina took a deep breath and staggered away. Harry had a lot of confidence in her, that she was lacking. He hasn't left any clear directions or a name of a place. She walked outside to see a chauffeur, holding a sign with her name on it. Karmina light up, "are you taking me where I have to go?"

"No, ma'am. Are you to guide me," he opened the car door.

"Shit," Karmina cussed under her breath. She slide in the back seat.

"Where to?" The driver called back to her. That's when it hit her.

"Take a left up here," she sat back comfortably.

Karmina jumped out of the car as soon as it came to a stop. There she stood in front of an abandon Benoit Paris. Surely, this had been the location he had been referring to but it was alone. She looked through the windows, there was no one inside. She was about to tug on the door handle when she saw the little tape recorder hanging off the door knob. Instantly, she hit play.

"Hello, love. I know that was kind of a long shot but I've always had faith in you. You made the impossible seem not as impossible." He laughed a little and Karmina smiled to herself. "This is where I found out that I was going to father a little baby girl named Karry. I never told you this, but I was glad to have a reason to be with you again. You mean the world to me. I know I take you for granted at times, and I'm sorry. All I know is that I love you. You are my love, my heart. You will never be for gotten. We have one more stop in this romantic little city. Come find me at the Eiffel Tower," Harry concluded his proclamation of love. Karmina stood there for a few seconds wondering if he had actually meant the Eiffel Tower. She trusted her gut and climbed back into the car. The driver drove straight there.

Once again it was dark and abandon. What kind of creepy stalker game was Harry playing? Did he have to go through so much trouble for a conversation? She decide yes, Harry was on more than one occasion, ostentatious. She walked up to the tower and followed little arrows on the ground pointing to the stairs. A little note attached to a ballon, was tied to the the railing.

"At the top" was all it read. Real poetic, Harry, she mentally teased him. After running up the flights of stairs and taking the lift, she was completely out of breath. The nerves had never gone, they had, in fact, gotten worse when she realized they were probably trespassing. The last thing Karry needed was for here parents to get arrested in a foreign country.

"Harry?" She called out when the doors opened. The darkness was everywhere, and she couldn't help but panic.

"Over here, love," he answered and Karmina followed his voice.

"What are we doing here? We are going to get arrested!" She jumped as she felt him grab her hand.

"So?" He pulled her closer to him.

"Why are we here? We've never come here together before." She whispered, afraid something was going to jump out her any second.

"No. But this place is special for two reasons. First being, that it's a pop icon," Harry placed a hand on her hip, and she instinctively put a hand on his cheek.

"And the second?" She asked, feeling his broad shoulders in the darkness. Harry clicked on a lighter. In the dim light she could see the redness of his pouty lips and the very light hazel in the middle of his emerald green eyes.

"The second is," he then handed her the lighter and bent down. Never letting go of the first time he grabbed he hand, he pulled out a little navy box. "I have loved you from the minute I saw you. I knew we were destined to be together, and destiny confirmed that when we had our beautiful daughter. I can't picture a life without you in it. So please," Harry paused, Karmina could feel the tears begin to welt up in the corner of her eyes. "Will you marry me?" Karmina's heart pounded, making her chest move up and down quickly. Her nerves fluttering, her palms sweating, as everything that they have been through replayed through her mind; she knew.

"Yes!" She she grinned from ear to ear and Harry jumped up. He placed the ring around her small delicate finger and gave her a slow, sweet, wet kiss. He then flipped a switch and she could hear the thumping again. From bottom to top the entire tower was periodically lit, in bright white lights. "This is beautiful," she cried.

"But none of it compares to you," he pressed his lips against hers again. She looked out to see the city of lights. Nothing could make this moment any better. She then heard cheering, and Harry was waving at the ground. Peeking over the ledge, she saw everyone. All the memebers of one direction were there, along with there girlfriends and Karry. Harry's parents and her parents were even there. Karmina smiled at the sight of all her loved ones. Apparently, Harry could even outdo himself.

"You asked them all here?" She asked incredulously.

"Yes, I did," he gave her a crooked smile.

"How did you know I was going to say yes?" She was now putting her arms around the back of his neck.

"I didn't, but I was hoping you would. If not that would have been really embarrassing." He chuckled a deep laugh.

"I love you," she whispered.

"And I love you," he said softly and lowered himself to give her a long passionate kiss and she could hear the crowd cheering again in the distance.

Notes

This is the last chapter to the story. I'm thinking about writing an epilogue. I'm still not sure if I'm writing a third story because I haven't gotten to much feed back on it. Let me know :)
