Karmina POV

4 Months After the Summer

Karmina walked over to the kitchen to see Gabrielle sitting on the counter cutting up some oranges. Ever since Gabrielle moved there three and a half months ago, Karmina had felt more at home. While she lived with her parents she never felt as she did with Gabrielle. Gabrielle just had a something about her that made you want to be around her.

"Bonjour, Karmina," Gabrielle flash her perfect smile, while holding out a peeled orange. "You need your folic acid." Karmina subconsciously put a hand on her small growing belly. She was almost twenty weeks along.

"Thank you," she grabbed the orange from her. "So what's happening this week? What's on the schedule?" Karmina bit into the orange. These next couple of months were going to be busy, since her book made the best seller list.

"You have an interview taping tomorrow morning and a doctor appointment this afternoon. Have you made any progress with the sequel?" Gabrielle spoke very quickly, and Karmina by now had become accustomed to her accent.

"Oh right, that's today," Karmina was thankful for Gabrielle, ever since Harry left she was a complete mess. She subconsciously reached up and touched her necklace.

"You're thinking about him aren't you?" Gabrielle's expression softened.

"What? No!" Karmina laughed awkwardly and shook her head.

"Yes you are!" Gabrielle pointed at her, knife in hand. "Everytime you do you reach for that necklace."

Karmina sighed, "it's hard not to when you're carrying his spawn." Karmina smiled at her belly.

"You should call him," Gabrielle shook her head.

"And say what? Oh yeah you never called, so I called to tell you I'm pregnant. No, I just can't." Karmina ran a hand through her brown hair.

"But it's not fair to him and you know it," Gabrielle frowned. Karmina appreciated her honesty but was afraid of what would happen if she did tell him.

"Fine," Karmina exhaled. "Ill call after my appointment." Karmina left Gabrielle alone to go take a shower, she needed to clear her mind.

Karmina always wore sunglasses and a hat to her doctors appointments. The paparazzi never found out her name due to Harry's discretion, but they knew her by face and she couldn't take the smallest of risks. Gabrielle accompanied her to every doctors appointment, she had become her best friend and always was around for her.

"Have you begun packing for Paris?" Gabrielle asked while looking through the magazines at the doctors office. Karmina mentally cursed herself. She had forgotten that soon they would be leaving to live in Paris while she finished her book tour in Europe.

"No, I completely forgot." She admitted sheepishly. Gabrielle placed a hand on her wrist.

"I'll do it for you, you have enough on your mind as it is," she gave her a sympathetic look.

"Remember to call the interview people tomorrow to only shoot me from the breast up," Karmina said before a nurse entered the room.

"Ms.Santos, the doctor will see you now," the nurse called. Karmina stood nervously and walked into the room. Karmina laid down while the doctor started the ultra sound.

"Everything looks good, would you like to know the sex?" The doctor asked. Karmina was unsure. This isn't how she pictured her first pregnancy. She always thought she would have been married for atleast five years with her husband right beside her sharing the joy. They would have a huge five bedroom mansion on the outskirts of the city. But that was very far from what she had.

"Um, okay," she held her breath.

"It's a girl," the doctor smiled and Karmina broke down in tears. "Is everything okay?" The doctor asked.

"Yeah, everything is great," Karmina forced a smile. When she redressed she met up with Gabrielle in the waiting room. When she saw Karmina's tear stained eyes she gave her a hug.

"Everything okay?" Karmina could see the panic in her face, she must have thought there was something wrong with the baby.

"Everything is fine, I'm having a girl," this time the smile came naturally.

Later that day, Karmina sat at her desk staring at the phone. A few months ago calling Harry wasn't a problem at all but in the last few months everything changed. He clearly didn't want to talk to her he had never called and that message was received. She then felt the baby kick again and she smiled. She owed it to her daughter to give her a chance at knowing both her parents. Karmina dialed the very familiar number.

"Hello," a girl picked up, a voice Karmina didn't recognize. Karmina froze, her heart beating faster than she could think. "Hello?" The girl asked again.

"Hello, is this Harry Styles phone?" Karmina voice was uneven.

"Yeah, who is this?" The girl spat.

"It's Karmina, who is this?" Karmina regained her strength with the girls negative tone.

"It's Taylor, his girlfriend," the girl shot back.

"Well, can you just tell him I called its really important." Karmina hung up before the girl had a chance to answer. Instantly the tears began the fall, he had never called because he moved on.
