Secret Sanctuary...

Thunder

The sound of thunder rumbled throughout the empty building. Rain pounded with all it's might against broken and shattered windows that lined one side of the room. Sadee grumbled as she pulled a long abandoned notebook out of a newly formed puddle. the dim light coming through the windows proved to be the main source of light, on the deserted 9th floor of the long forgotten hotel. The mess it looked like on the outside didn't compare to the beauty and destruction that laid inside.

A few years back the building had been bought and reconstruction had begun. only to be abandoned when a worker was killed on the top floor. though the building only had 9 . leaving the 9th floor to be left broken down, without any interior walls. a few columns held the building up, placed here and there. Sadee loved the ridged structure they had, and how they looked ready to crumble, though she knew they were strong enough to last a few more decades.

The rooms on the floors below had been left untouched since the early 1940's. some rooms remained fully furnished, while others were nearly destroyed by times past. Sadee loved how secluded the building felt, though dozens of people passed it on their way down the historic shopping strip. Her pen raced across the notebook as thunder struck nearby. she blew the hair that got in her pale face, ignoring any and all distractions. choosing to let the lighting and thunder inspire her. not paying attention to spelling, the words flew onto the paper before her. The story forming itself.

The sound of a car horn finally tearing her from her newly created work. looking out the closest window, she saw a familiar truck waiting down below. dragging her piles of papers, pens, and notebooks further away from the windows, she stuffed the newest piece in her bag. slowly making her way down the old stairwell.

"What are you doing here?" Sadee yelled out as she stood under the awning.

"Coming to save the princess." the voice belonging to her longtime friend, Gabby, called from the drivers seat. Gabby may only be five foot two, but her attitude always made up for it. "Get in already!" she called again.

This time Sadee reluctantly drug herself into the rain, making a beeline for the truck. as always she pushed her bag into the floorboard.

"How'd you know i was here?" she asked once again. no matter how many times gabby would come get her, she'd still ask the same question.

"Because this is the only place you can go to write." she answered, shaking her head as she always did. "So did you hear?" Gabby asked, finally starting a conversation.

"hear what?"

"apparently the one direction boys are staying in the old hotel."

"which one?" Sadee asked practically panicked. "don't tell me it's mine."

"yep. looks like your going to have to share your hiding place." Gabby said ruining her reality.
