Chapter Forty-Three

*LIZZIE’S POV*

“So, rough night?” Ben asked as his gaze wandered down to the dress that I was still wearing from the party.

“You have no idea.” I whispered with a smile, he raised his eyebrows questioningly. “It’s a long story.” I offered, trying to get out of explaining everything.

“I’ve got nothing but time,” he said with a smile as he reached his arms up and indicated to the empty diner. Sighing, I launched into the story that was me and Harry’s relationship.

~~~~~~
*HARRY’S POV*
I was wandering around the streets of Texas for over an hour. The more the time passed, the more pissed off I got. Why the fuck did Lizzie leave. I thought we had agreed to stop running when we had problems..?
~~~~~~

*LIZZIE’S POV*

“Jesus Christ, I don’t know what to say,” Ben said as he leaned back in the booth after I finished my fifteen minute story. I had told him everything- from me breaking up Harry and Taylor, to Harry kissing that fan, to the current Niall drama. I was silent; after a moment, Ben spoke.

“Lizzie?”

“Yeah?” I asked.

“You wanna get out of here and get your mind off of things?” I looked at him quizzically. He returned my look with a smirk.

“What do you have in mind?” I asked.

~~~~~~
Thirty minutes later, Ben and I had closed the diner and drove to a party. It was at an apartment that had so many people the party overflowed into the hallways and outside.
“Just follow me,” Ben whispered into my ear as he protectively wrapped his arm around my waist and led me to the drinks.
Ben was greeted by people here and there, but never once bothered to introduce me. Ignoring his blatant lack of manners, I continued drinking. We did shots, mixed drinks, drank beers, and even downed a few bottles of wine. I was beyond wasted.
“You’re so hot,” I felt a warm breath against my neck as Ben wrapped his arms around my waist from behind. Trailing sloppy kisses all over my neck, Ben spun me around to face him. He was strong; even though I was drunk, I began to feel a bit on edge.
“No, Ben,” I began to protest, but he stumbled against me, knocking me into the wall. Pressing his mouth against mine, he began to feel up and down my sides as I squirmed. Finally, his hands pressed against my hips, pinning me into place despite my feeble attempts to push him off.
“Ben, I have a boyfriend.” I slurred as he trailed kisses onto my cleavage.
“Oh yeah?” He asked breathlessly, finally addressing me, “well where’s your boyfriend now? Not here is he? I bet he’s not even looking for you.” He said, his eyes piercing mine. His words hurt, but they were probably true. “You don’t love him, Lizzie. I listened to your story. I know. And trust me, he definitely doesn’t love you.” I felt hot tears slide down my face. I had no idea how to handle myself.
“C’mon, cheer up. I’m here for you.” He said before he crashed his lips onto mine again. This time, I kissed him back eagerly. His words resonated in my head. I kissed him and released all of the feelings I had pent up inside me. My hands reached up and hungrily pulled at his hair as he gripped at my breasts through the skin tight dress that I had on. Leaving one hand on my chest, his other hand traveled down, easily stroking the inside of my right thigh. Getting anxious again, I clenched my legs together, however he was still stronger. Pulling my dress up, he quickly slid his hand down into my underwear.
“Stop!” I screamed as I pulled back from the kiss, instead he just pinned me back and pressed his mouth harder onto mine. I felt one of his fingers enter me, then two. He moved them quickly in and out as I began to cry harder. Using all my strength, I pushed him back again.
“Ben,” I struggled as I staggered on the spot, “I said STOP.” Thankfully, another guy nearby heard what was going on.
“Hey my man, the girl said stop,” he said as he draped an arm around Ben’s shoulders. Using the diversion, I pulled my dress down and stumbled through the crowd. Finally, I found an open bathroom. Slamming and locking the door shut behind me, I slumped down on the ground and tried to regain my breath. I wanted to go home.
That was when I noticed the girl passed out in the bathtub.
“Hello???” I asked gently as I shook her shoulder. She slowly opened her eyes and turned to face me. “Do you have a phone I can use?” Without speaking, she grasped at the pocket of her skin tight jeans, but could not get her phone out. Ignoring her, I reached and pulled it out myself.
Dialing Harry’s number that I had recently memorized, I sat back down on the floor against the door and listened to the ring, praying for him to pick up.
“Hello?” He finally answered; I could already tell how mad he was just from the tone. It made me cry harder.
“Harry it’s me.” I began, between sobs.
“Lizzie!? Where the fuck are you?” He asked, his voice escalating again.
“Harry, please be mad at me later. I need you. I’m so afraid.” I tried to calm him down.
“Lizzie what’s wrong? Where. Are. You.” He repeated, this time an entirely different tone. No longer angry, but instead full of concern.
“I have no idea. I’m at some party, and I just need to get out of here.” I started crying again. “How do I get out of here?”
*HARRY’S POV*
As soon as Lizzie told me she was afraid, I could tell something was up; I turned around and began sprinting back towards the hotel. I needed to get a car to take me to pick her up.
“Lizzie, listen to me. Lizzie?” I attempted to still talk to her. Her tears were breaking my heart through the phone. I ran faster. “Are you on an Iphone?”
“Yes.” She said softly.
“Listen to me. Go to the Apple Maps icon and wait until your current location shows up. Screenshot that and text it to me. Do not hang up the phone. Do it now.” I listened as she pressed the buttons. I was finally back at the hotel. Approaching the security, I asked them to call for a car, after that I ran past them and into the lobby to the elevators. Thankfully, the doors opened as soon as I pressed the buttons.
“I sent it,” Lizzie finally said.
“Okay good, I’ll be there in a moment. Don’t hang up.” I said as soothingly as possible. The elevator doors opened on my floor and I ran down the hallways; when I finally got to my door, I didn’t bother with the key, I just began pounding on the door with my fist. Louis finally answered.
“Get the rest of the boys- we need to go get Lizzie.” I said quickly before I checked to make sure Lizzie was still on the phone. Louis didn’t ask any questions, he and the rest of the boys appeared in the doorway ready to go a moment later. Following my lead, we ran down the hallways back to the elevators.
“Lizzie? You still there?” I asked.
“Yeahhh Harry I’m here still. You’re really so great. Thank you. Iloveyousomuch.” She was still sobbing and slurred her last words together. Deciding against asking her about what she had to drink, I smiled and answered.
“I love you too, don’t worry.” I said. However, I could hear something on the other end of the call. “Lizzie what’s going on??” I asked, immediately tensing up.
“Harry, it’s Ben. He found me. I’m in a bathroom. I’m not letting him in. Come quick. Help me.” She started crying again.
“It’s okay, Lizzie, we’re on our way now. He won’t touch you. Stay there. Don’t let him in. You’re going to be okay,” I masqueraded my panic to try and calm her down. I could hear her hyperventilating. Why was she so afraid of ‘Ben’?
We piled in the car and I instructed the driver on where to go. Luckily, it was only a few minutes away. I looked at the other lads who seemed just as panicked as I was. Deciding to fill them in, I covered the phone with my hand.
“Lizzie’s at some party. She’s hiding in the bathroom terrified of some guy. She’s drunk out of her mind. That’s all I know.” I whispered before removing my hand and checking on Lizzie again.
Finally, we pulled up in front of the apartment complex. I jumped out before the car had even come to a complete stop and was immediately followed by the other four. Running up the stairs, I quickly found the apartment where the party was. There were people everywhere. Pushing my way through, I screamed to Lizzie through the phone that we were here. Almost in the same moment, I noticed another guy screaming Lizzie’s name through a locked door. This must be Ben.
Without thinking, I full on charged at him, tackling him from the side. I knocked him flat on his back before I punched him square in the jaw. Louis came and pulled me off of him.
“No, Harry, go get Lizzie. We’ll take care of him.” Louis reasoned in my ear. I could tell he was just as pissed as I was. Getting up and going back to the bathroom door, I pounded on it.
“Lizzie! It’s me! It’s Harry!” I screamed, a minute later, the door opened. Lizzie was still on the floor, her face puffy and tear stained. Kneeling down, I scooped her into my arms and held her while she cried into my chest.
“She’s okay?” Zayn asked me as he returned from ‘taking care’ of Ben.
“I have no idea,” I whispered back.
“Let’s just get out of here,” Zayn said as I noticed the crowd that had formed. Picking Liz up bridal-style, I held her tight to my chest as I reassured her that things were okay, and we finally left.
