How can you love me?
A chance encounter
I step out into the bright daylight and squint. There was something I hadn’t seen in awhile. I stumbled onto the sidewalk with just my dirty tank top and a pair of shorts and hiking boots on. I gripped my arms and tried to hide as much skin as I could, but being in London didn’t make that very easy. I see a Starbucks and tromp my way through the thick crowd of people in there.
All of a sudden, something hits me. I automatically assume the worst and back up against the nearest wall making myself as small as possible and thinking about escape routes.
“So sorry about that, Love. Are you alright?” A guy with curly brown hair and striking green eyes asks me with a thick British accent. He offers his hand to me, but I stubbornly stand up on my own. I nod my head and start walking towards the Starbucks again. I feel a hand on my shoulder and I swing around and grip the wrist until I see it’s the man who knocked me over.
“I didn’t mean to startle you!” He says apologetically. “I just wanted to make sure you’re okay.” Every instinct in my body was telling me to leave, but something in those gorgeous green eyes tells me that it’s safe.
“It’s okay. I’m a bit jumpy,” I admit while pulling my lips into a thin smile. He throws his gorgeous head back and laughs which makes his curls bounce.
“I can see that. You must be freezing! Come on.” He tries to grab my hand which is still covering my arms. I dodge his hand but follow him towards the warm coffee shop. When we walk in everyone’s eyes turn to us and a bunch of girls come up to us. I nervously try to step away from the crowd, but I realize that people are coming from everywhere.
“What’s going on?” I ask the guy. He looks down disappointedly.
“I realized you didn’t know who I am when I first bumped into you. I was looking forward to spending some time with you before you found out, but I guess I have to tell you some time or another.” I’m starting to get freaked out. What if he works for Him? I turn to try and get away before he can catch me again, but his hand grabs my shoulder.
“Leave me alone!” I yell at him as I swing around.
“Ana?” He asks with shock on his face. My eyes widen with confusion.
“H-how do you know my name?” I whisper.
“You’re everywhere! You’ve been missing for four months!”
