The band was supposed to have a performance the next day so the medical volunteers were busy preparing the holding room by putting up some quick decorations to make the room more lively. Amy was putting up the paper garlands with the help of Jeff while Ranae got some of the children who were well enough to write on a massive "Thank You" card they were planning to give to the boys after the performance. Some of the children were too young to know how to write so Ranae would ask them what they would like to tell the boys and she would write the message for them before handing them the marker to do a little autograph. It made the children smile and they were clearly excited for the performance that night.

Amy and Ranae were talking again, of course. They could not get angry at each other for more than a day, really.

"So I heard Harry came by yesterday. You didn't tell me that!" Amy said as she sat next to Ranae with the rest of the children.

"Well I wasn't actually speaking to you yesterday, that's why," Ranae laughed.

"So...." Amy went on. "Anything happened?"

Ranae took the marker from one of the children and turned to Amy. "What do you mean by what happened? He came by, met some of the kids, say hello, talk to them and we said our goodbyes."

"Oh, I don't know. Thought you two would hang out or something," Amy teased.

"No. Could you please stop saying 'hang out'? You're starting to sound like Niall already!"

"Well I can't help it..." Amy giggled.

"Oh don't be such a girl Amy. Here, help me finish the card with them. I'm gonna go grab the snacks from Sara," Ranae told Amy as she handed her the markers.

"Alright children, settle down. One Direction will be coming in soon but they won't come in if all of you don't behave alright?" Sara told the children with her arms akimbo.

The room immediately went silent but the children's faces were beaming in delight. Moments later, Amy gestured the boys to come in and the children started clapping their hands and cheered.

"Children listen up, if you get hungry at any point of time, just raise your hand and Ranae will hand over something for you to snack on, okay?"

The children nodded in unison.

"All yours, boys!" Sara told the band.

Sara walked over to the back and gave Amy and Ranae some instructions before she and Jeff left the room to watch over the children at the recovery ward. There was nothing much to worry about actually since they were certain that the children will enjoy the performance which will only be running for not more than 40 minutes. They will start to get tired and all Amy and Ranae had to do was to engage the nurses on duty to help them bring the children back to their respective rooms.

Niall brought his acoustic guitar and Amy was obviously digging the whole Niall-with-a-guitar look.

"You know you should be watching over the children with me, Amy," Ranae whispered into Amy's ear. "Not your little eye candy."

Amy was in a daze, totally ignoring what Ranae said. Ranae shook her head slightly and laughed at how smitten her bestfriend was over some boy she knew would be gone from their lives in a matter of weeks.

The boys were halfway through "What Makes You Beautiful" when Ranae saw a head turn towards her. It was young Chris who looked as though he could use some biscuits and juice so Ranae walked over and handed him a packet of Apple Juice and biscuits. Just when she turned away, she heard a loud wail coming from where she was and when she turned back, she saw the girl, Ariel, who was sitting next to Chris crying hysterically with blood gushing from her lip.

The boys stopped the performance and the rest of the children began to move away in fear from Ariel, including Chris. Ranae rushed towards Ariel and cupped the back of her head with her hands. Apparently as Chris was opening the packet of biscuits, his elbow accidentally hit against Ariel's lip, opening up some of the stitches.

"Shhhh..." Ranae cooed in the attempt to calm her down. "Amy!" she called out. "Hand me over some napkin and a cup of water. Guys, bring the children to the side!"

Without hesitation, they followed Ranae's instructions. Each of the boys took two children with them and moved over to the side and tried their best to calm them down. Ranae sat on the floor with her legs crossed and had Ariel lay down across her lap with her head tilted backwards to stop the blood from flowing down. "Shhh...shhhh...don't cry, Ariel," Ranae told her as she stroked her hair backwards. When Amy came with the napkin, Ranae took a couple of sheets and pressed it down the lip gently but with enough pressure to gradually stop the bleeding.

Ranae could tell that Amy was nervous from her unsteady breathing so she grabbed Amy's arm tight and told her, "Amy...calm...down. You can do this. Now I need you to inform the nurse that we would need to arrange an emergency procedure. I think they need to do some stitches and then inform Sara about what happen. Alright? You can do this, partner. Come on."

Amy nodded her head profusely and was trying to fight back the tears that were already forming in her eyes before she ran out of the room.

Ranae took another napkin and dip it with a little bit of water and started to wipe of the dry blood on Ariel's face. Ariel's wails finally subsided but her cheeks were wet from crying. Ranae wiped the tears with her thumb and smiled, "that's my big girl."

When Ranae walked out from the emergency room, Amy and the boys were leaning against the wall of the corridor, waiting for her. Amy immediately ran up to Ranae and pulled her into a hug. Ranae rubbed her back and smiled.

"You did good, Amy. You did good," she told her with assurance.

Amy released herself from the embrace and held the sides of Ranae's arms. "I was horrible! I panicked!"

"No, no, it's normal. Couldn't have done without you, partner!"

Amy hugged Ranae again and Louis was about to tell Ranae how she handled the situation so well but Ranae put her index finger to her lip, gesturing him to not say a word. Ever since they were in university, Amy lacked the confidence in everything she does, especially when it comes to handling situations with children when it is supposed to be what she was good at since she was a pediatric graduate. But Ranae always reassured her that she was capable of being a good pediatrician, all she needed to do was to overcome her fears and step up during emergencies. She was glad that over the years, Amy managed to gain confidence and aced all her practicals during the final year. The Amy she knew back in freshman year would not have handled the situation with Ariel well.

"Thanks you guys, for helping with the children," Ranae told the boys.

"Aww, can we have a group hug?" Louis whined before the boys surrounded the girls and formed a group hug.

When they all stepped back, Niall raised his hands and announced, "this calls for a celebration! My place again!"

Liam instantly covered Niall's mouth and warned him, "Niall, softly please."

"Sorry, sorry. So, who's in?" Niall whispered.

Everyone raised their hands except for Ranae which made all of them turn their heads towards her.

"Come on, it's Friday night, Ranae!" Louis told her. "I'll call Eleanor over, I'm sure she can join us!"

All of them had a pleading expression on their faces except for Harry who was standing by the side awkwardly.

"Argh, fine. I'll get home to change and I'll see you guys there," Ranae said in defeat.
