The crowd was roaring in excitement as the band walked up the stage to congratulate all the runners of The Virgin Money London Marathon especially the "Miles for Smiles" team from their adopted charity, Operation Smile. They waved at the crowd and flashed their best smiles before they were handed with their microphones.

"Niall, Liam, Louis, Harry and Zayn, it's great to have all of you boys here today and thank you for joining us!" the host greeted them. "What do you have to say to all these amazing people here today?"

Liam brought his microphone close to his lips and replied, "We're glad to be here and we are very proud of all the runners and the people who made this event successful. We are very honoured to be up here and spread the awareness about the wonderful people behind Operation Smile."

"So what will you boys be doing with Operation Smile in the upcoming months?" the host asked.

"Um," Harry answered. " We will be working closely with the medical volunteers and professionals to better understand what the charity does and how it helps the children with facial deformities. We will also be having a charity concert to help raise funds and we hope you all be there to join us."

"That's wonderful, could you tell us more about the concert?"

"It will be held on 10th January at the Wembley Stadium. We have guest performances by the awesome Olly Murs and our good friend Ed Sheeran!" Niall announced, his face beaming.

The crowd grew louder that it was getting difficult to even hear what they were saying. The host repeated what Niall said so the message was clear and thanked the boys before they made their way down the stage.

Amy and Ranae were amongst the runners who have just completed the marathon, dressed in orange dri-fit tank tops and black running capris. They headed towards the "Miles for Smiles" booth to be away from the loud crowd.

"They didn't tell us that those crowd-screaming-magnets would be involved!" Amy told Ranae who was walking next to her. "If I had known..."

"Oh come on, Amy. Focus on the fact that we're doing this to get more hands-on exposure and help those children. There are plenty of medical volunteers, I'm sure we won't have to be around them as often as you think," Ranae comforted Amy, patting her back.

"Hey Amy and Ranae! You two are flushing from the run!" said Jeff, a medical volunteer who did not take part in the marathon but was helping out at the booth instead. "So you are two fans of those lads?"

"Not really," Amy and Ranae said in unison.

"But...it's nice that they are helping us," Ranae added on. "Right, Amy?" Ranae nudged Amy's arm.

"Yeah, yeah, nice," Amy said half-heartedly.

"Well, I asked because they wanna meet some of the volunteers before they leave and you two, besides myself, are the only ones who have reported at the booth," Jeff told them before he gestured to them to follow him to the tent behind the booth. "They're in there. Let's go!"

Amy turned towards Ranae and frowned. Ranae shook her head slightly and mouthed the word "Go." Amy rolled her eyes and sighed, "Fine…"

When they entered the enclosed tent, they found the band sitting at the lounge area, being interviewed by a media representative. One of their Operation Smile mentors, Sara, approached them with smile.

"They will be done soon," she whispered. "And will definitely like the 3 of you."

Jeff snorted and whispered to Ranae who was next to him. "What? She thinks I'm gay or something?"

Ranae and Amy covered their mouths with her hands and tried their best to control their laughter. Shortly after, the band was done with the interview and Sara told them to meet the boys.

All 5 of them stood up from their seats to greet Jeff, Ranae and Amy with a handshake and nice-to-meet-you's.

Sara took 3 additional chairs from the back and placed them in front of the boys for Jeff, Ranae and Amy to sit on.

" You guys have no idea how honoured we are to meet the 3 of you. What you medical volunteers do with the charity is beyond amazing," Louis broke the awkward silence.

"Amy and I are new, actually. We're recent pediatric graduates. Jeff has been around for quite some time," Ranae replied with a smile and pointing towards Jeff.

"Yeah but really, having One Direction to be part of this initiative is great. We'll have a good time," Jeff added on. "So...is there anything you would like to know about Operation Smile that we can help with?"

Zayn shifted his body and bent forward. "Nah, I mean we've learnt a lot about it. We can't wait to meet the people behind the scenes and the children actually."

"Yeah, it's really cool to get to know you guys! Can't wait to hang out!" Niall said in his usual high-spirited tone.

“Will you guys be around at St Thomas Hospital tomorrow?” Liam asked.

Amy and Ranae looked at each other. Jeff went on replying, “I won’t but Amy and Ranae here are stationed there tomorrow. Am I right, girls?”
“Yeah…” Amy’s voice trailed off, clearly not looking forward for tomorrow.

“We’ll see you there then!” Liam told them.

After saying their goodbye’s, Amy pulled Ranae to a corner.

“Relax, Amy. It’s just for one day. That’s all,” Ranae reassured her before Amy could say anything.

“Damn it, Ranae, they’re so good looking in person!” Amy blushed. “And nice!”

Ranae laughed and shook her head. “Ah. I see where this is going.”

“Oh and you totally blew it by telling them we’re pediatric graduates. Ranae, you know how that screams nerd all over.”

Ranae laughed even harder. “We ARE nerds, Amy.”

“You don’t think any one of them would fancy us, do you?” Amy said, sounding rather disappointed. “Like since we’re not like bombshell-beautiful.”

“Even if they don’t, who cares! A few minutes ago you labeled them as crowd-screaming-magnets and now you’re falling head over heels for them. Seesh Amy!”

“Oh well, you’re right…”

“Yes, I’m always right. Now come on, let’s get our stuff and head home. We just met the most popular boyband in these stinky clothes,” Ranae sniggered, pulling a disgusted face.

Amy gasped and covered her face with her hands. “We are such nerds! Smelly nerds!”
