Hi guys,

You may have noticed that I haven’t written anything in a while, nor have I done anything with this story.

I have been fighting depression for a while now and I started writing last year about the same time as I became really into the 1D problem. I have just been through a tough time, and if it wasn’t for the 5 guys that saved me through their music and for who they are, then I don’t know how I would have coped.

I was particularly drawn to one member of the band for reasons I really can’t explain. I started writing fanfiction for the first time with the vision that I wanted to capture who this guy is – someone different from the Harry Styles the media portrays. I wanted to do Harry justice with a story that is both positive and doesn’t glorify him, instead showing him as a real person.

And so I started writing. Then I put it up on the internet and had so many of you supporting me. I was so ecstatic! I was feeling really positive, that my depression didn’t take my writing away, that what I’ve been through did not change the one thing I am most passionate about.

But as with depression, these things just come back without any warning. The last few months have been trying, and it has taken every ounce of me these past few weeks to keep going.

This might sound really silly but I logged on to Tumblr again for a long time and saw my dash was filled with the boys and I was reminded again of the good things in life.

These boys are inspiring – living their dream while being true to who they are. I’ve been listening to Diana and it makes me cry everytime.

This fandom has saved me – the lads and the rest of you who have reached out, read, commented on The Café Girl – you are all part of my story and for that I am grateful.

I’m willing to try again. To write and to have something to look forward to again.
