Harry: Something about that Smile
“So what is this town called again?” I continued to stare out the window as the lads chatted on and on about random thing. The town that had won our contest was next on the list.
“Lexar Falls, it’s brilliant name. Sounds like it would be some town on an uncharted planet.” Zayn commented, Liam snorted. “Right Zaynie poo, you keep thinking that.”
“I just hope there are cute girls here.” Niall chimed in while he crinkled the bag of crisps he purchased at the airport.
We had been driving for ages now, mostly through fields and farmlands. “It feels like this this place is in the middle of nowhere!” Lou croaked out as he sipped on his hot tea. Poor thing has a cold.
“Well, we are in Texas after all. Haz, you okay mate? Haven’t said a word this whole drive!” I pulled myself out of my daydream and turned to Liam with a smile. “Fantastic!” I spoke trying to sound as enthusiastic as possible.
“You lie!” Lou managed to get out as he pointed a finger. “Harold, I will not have you down in the dumps because some girl. You’re better than her. She cheated.” I sighed, because it still hurts.
I didn’t respond. “All right boys, here we are.” We all looked out the tinted windows to find ourselves at a small bed and breakfast. “This is where we’re staying?” Zayn commented confused.
“Don’t be a diva Zayn.” Paul mumbled under his breath. “I’m not! I’m just thinking about our well-being and safety is all.
“Trust me, the nearest hotel his hours back where we came from. Y’all will be fine. Security will be outside of the place and your doors 24/7.” I rolled my eyes, of course they will be.
We all were ushered out of the car, only to find no one around. That’s weird… as we continued to walk down the sidewalk and came up on the porch two girls around our age, maybe younger sat there chatting away. However it didn’t take long for them to realize out presence.
A darker haired girl smiled widely and that’s when I took a glimpse of Niall. She stood up and took two steps forward but the soldiers got tense. She jumped backed a bit, “I’m sorry… we’re not crazy fan girls. I promise.” I said, his voice didn’t break.
“Hi, my name is Charlotte, but everyone calls me Charlie and this is Rienna but you can call her Rae. I’m the senior class president of Lexar High and the one who entered us into the contest.” She gave a sweet and innocent smile, “Welcome to Lexar Falls.”
Not another word was said; she showed us our way into the bed and breakfast. “My Grandparents owns the bed and breakfast. So I help out every now and then, if y’all need anything don’t be afraid to hesitate.”
She was just about to say something else when the door busted open, a girl with the same dark hair like Charlotte, but her face had been down. “Charlie, Rae we need to go.”
By now she looked up. “Oh, oops y’all aren’t done yet. Don’t mind me.” We watched as she made her way to the front desk and she hopped on top.
“I apologise for that, we have a graduation to get to but in each other your rooms there is a card with out numbers. Y’all are welcome into the kitchen, seeing as everyone will be at the High School for graduation.
You’re more than welcome to go, but not obligated.” She gave one final smile. “Let me show you to your rooms real quick and then we’ll be-“ Charlotte was cut off.
“Go girls, I got it.” The dark haired girl jumped from counter top. “Thanks Blakie poo. Bye boys.” The two hostess’ gave us a smile and headed out. Our attention was now on the 3rd girl.
“This may not be as organized as you think, but I promise you Charlie is one hell of a planner and organizer. Now follow me please.”
We did as we were commanded. “So how small is this town exactly?” Liam jumped in, “Tiny. Y’all are used to the big stadium gigs, yours will be the size of a football field…. American football that is.”
As she led us down the hall and up another set of stairs. “Y’all will be in our two biggest rooms. Both connect and can fit up to 6 people, 3 in each.” I took note of her and followed every single detail.
It was mesmerizing t me, the way she carried herself made her come off as someone confident and powerful. When she smiles, it’s a beautiful smile but somewhere hidden behind it was broken.
“You never gave us a name?” Niall quickly cut it, the girl chuckled, “You can call me Blake.” She came to a stop and turned towards us once more, her smile hiding away secrets from her past.
When you looked passed her it stopped with a wall with an old vintage photo placed against it. On the right of us sat a door as well on the left. “Here are your keys, both rooms connect.
“With that I will leave you boys, that is if you’re willing to make an appearance before your show tonight. Then I can wait for you to freshen a bit.” Her eyes glanced at us. Liam was about to speak but Paul stopped him as if reading his mind.
“Sorry love, but these boys need to rest before their gig tonight.” Blake nodded her head and smiled. “Well I can’t argue with that, nice to meet you all.”
She smiled that smile once more and made her way past us and down the stairs. “Really Paul! We’re perfectly fine.” Niall called, Zayn chuckled. “You just wanted to get to Charlotte, don’t think we didn’t see you make eyes.”
The boys all erupted in laughter and we made our way into the room, but for some reason that smile was all that ran through my head.
