Riley's POV:

Nick picked me up at around 8 o'clock to go to dinner on the other side of town at our favorite restaurant. I'm wearing a simple outfit with huge heels, because I wanted to look nice but not like i was trying too hard.

Dinner was actually going fine, we avoided any and all awkward conversations and spoke mostly about football and dance, or our families until Nick finally opened the can of worms I was trying to hide.

"So I think we should talk about last night.." He said nervously finishing his steak. I looked around the room and scratched the back of my head.

"Well what about it?" I smiled softly pretending that I didn't know what there was to talk about.

"Riley... I brought a condom with me and when I got home it was gone. My knuckles are sore like I punched somebody and you have a black eye behind all that makeup." He sighed. I tapped my fingers on the rim of my glass and sighed.

"Nick, now isn't the time or place to talk about it." I said shaking my head. "Let's just talk about something else, yeah?" I deflected.

"No. I need to know right now Riley. Did I hurt you?" He whispered with tears in his eyes. He reached out for my hand at that moment, but I quickly pulled mine away and put them under the table...I guess that gave him his answer. "Oh my gosh..." He said covering his mouth. Instead of breaking down into tears, he slammed his fists down on the table in rage. Everyone else in the restaurant turned their heads to look at us and I attempted to calm him down.

"Nick, it was a mistake. I'm alright." I lied scooting out of my chair and rushing towards him. I placed my arm on his shoulder but he shrugged it off.

"No. This relationship is over. I can't ever face you again." He shouted storming out the door. I felt abandoned and scared. Quickly I threw down all the money in my wallet on the table and chased after him.

"Nick wait! We can get through this. I know you didn't mean to hurt me!" I cried running after him and trying to get inside the car. I couldn't lose my boyfriend.... It would destroy me even though it's already ruining me. "C'mon, it's senior year babe. I was bound to lose it sometime..." I said through small cries.

"When you were ready, and you clearly weren't. I'm so sorry Riley, but I'm done." He said pulling out of the lot and driving away.

"Nick, wait!" I screamed throwing a rock towards his car, but he was long gone. I wiped my tears and sighed. This doesn't make any sense at all.

I've been walking home for about two miles and I'm definitely lost. I can't call Dixie because I don't wanna worry her, and I can't call my parents to find me because they'll put Nick in jail. I don't have Harry's number even though if I did, I probably still wouldn't call him. I scrolled through all of my contacts until I got to the bottom.

"I'm lost." I sniffled into the phone. "I was at dinner with Nick, and he left me, and, and, and." I sobbed into the phone. "I stayed straight on Peach boulevard but I have no idea where I am. Ok I'll stay where I am. Thanks." I cried hanging out the phone.

Around ten minutes later I saw a familiar car down the road. I stood up from the stump I was sitting on and stepped inside the car.

"Explain everything to me now." Zayn growled as we drove away. I didn't even hesitate, I just cried about everything that happened with Nick and what he did to me last night. "Fuck Riley, why didn't you tell me. I swear to god when I get my hands on him..." Zayn shouted pounding on the steering wheel.

"I don't get you." I croaked out hugging my knees to my chest in the front seat. "Why can't you just be my friend... It's not fair." I cried. I felt Zayn reach over and take my hand and kiss it softly.

"It's so complicated Riley... Once your in this gang you can't get out." He sighed. "I don't want you to get hurt." He added. I looked up at him and chuckled a little.

"I don't think I can get much more hurt than I am right now. Do you know what I'm going to have to deal with in school because of this breakup?" I squeaked, making Zayn smirk in his seat.

"It'll be the end of the world." He teased.

"You used to care about that kind of stuff too when we dated sophomore year." I reminded. Yes, Zayn and I dated sophomore year, it was for a short time and we stayed friends after.

"Used to." He said as we pulled up to my house. I noticed a figure sitting outside across the street, it was probably Harry. "Be careful with him Riley... He's dangerous." He warned before unlocking the door.

"Thanks Zayn... for everything." I sniffled wiping my eyes.

"Remember everything I said, love. See you around." He said before pulling away. I waved at Harry who was sitting outside having a smoke.

"Hi there." He smirked batting his dark eyes at me. I rolled my eyes.

"Think you're charming?" I giggled unzipping my heels in front of my house. My feet were killing me.

"You wanna know what I think? I think you're hot." He joked. I could hear him laughing at himself from across the street. I glanced down at my phone clock and saw it was 11 o'clock, but I knew I couldn't sleep.

"Wanna go for a drive?" I asked jingling my keys in the air. His eyes lit up and he immediately headed across the street. "I'll take that as a yes." I smirked unlocking the door. What the hell am I doing? Zayn just warned me he's dangerous.

"Where to?" He asked hopping in next to me.

"Actually I uhh..." I stuttered. He placed his hands on each side of my face and brought my head against his.

"Stop worrying so much, have a little fun." He teased, making me smile.

"Let's do something crazy." snickered pulling out of the driveway. I knew exactly where we were going.
