A New Beginning
As Britney stepped off the plane with her parents, she could feel the excitement grow inside her. Just two monthes ago she had graduated from high school, with great grades and lots of friends. While most of her friends were heading off to college in a month or two, she was already onto the next step in her life. A prestigious law firm had contacted Britney last fall about coming to London and spending a year gaining experience before going to college. She couldn't believe it, that sounded like heaven! And as she arrived this morning, Britney was sure this was going to be great.
It was a short cab ride to her new apartment. When she unlocked the door she was astonished. The law firm was providing her lodging so she hadn't expected much, but this was beautiful and spacious! She quickly got unpacked with the help of her parents, and then said her goodbyes.
"Alright, bye mom and dad. I'll see you in a few monthes!"
"You stay safe, and study hard. We expect a law student when we see you next! Your mom and I love you so much Britney", said her father.
"Oh Britney, have a great time, and call us as often as possible! We will be back in January. Bye!"
She watched them drive away, then went to change clothes to go out to get something to eat. Britney pulled on a cream sweater, dark wash skinny jeans, and short brown boots. She grabbed her purse and head out the door. She had to find someplace she could walk to because her car wasn't being delivered until late tomorrow. She decided to just grab a salad and coffee down at a cafe right on the corner of her street. She sat alone at a table outside, and enjoyed watching the hustle and bustle of people going by.
One car pulled up and parked near where she was sitting. A man in dark clothes and sunglasses got out of the drivers side and ducked inside the restaurant. Suddenly Britney heard a car window roll down.
"Hello! I'm Harry!" Britney didn't know what to say.
"Hello..?"
"Why are you sitting alone? You need some company."
"Oh, I just moved here today so I don't know anyone and I just needed a bite to eat."
"New to the area huh? Well maybe I could show you around? What are you doing tomorrow?"
Britney had no idea why this guy was so friendly and eager to help, but his cheeky smile and adorable dimples couldn't be refused.
"Well I am fully booked for the next week, but I guess I could cancel all of my plans for you," she winked.
"Perfect, let me have your number and we'll meet up!" At that moment the man in the sunglasses walked back towards the car so she ran over and handed him a napkin with her name and number on it.
"Bye Britney!" he called after her.
"Bye" she said as she sat back down to finish her meal.
