The Way It Was

Chapter 1 <3

Maddy's POV

"Honey, if we don't leave now, we will miss our flight!"
"Please just one more minute!" Today, I was leaving my home in Columbus, Ohio, to move to Holmes Chapel in England because of my mom's job relocation. I took one last look at my room, that won't be my room anymore. The faded pink walls, my scratched, washed away, wooden bookshelves that I have had since I was a little girl, and my small bed with the flower booksheets that were slowly tearing apart. That's how I like it. Faded, used, and stained.
"Honey! Come on, please?!" Well, this was it. I sighed.
"I'm coming..." As soon as I walked down the stairs, she literally pulled me out the door, threw me into the taxi, she walked around and sat in the other side of the taxi, and the driver drove off. There is only one good thing that comes out of this. A fresh start. I have been waiting for a long time for a chance of a fresh start. Here's why. It all happened on the first day of 8th grade. 3 years ago. It was my last year before I started high school. It seemed like the perfect day. As the day continued, I realized that it was the exact opposite of a perfect day. It was horrible. Here is a list of what happened...

  1. I got in the lunch line that day, feeling happy that now I was the oldest in this building. I was looking around the small, claustrophobic cafeteria, not paying attention to where I was walking. I tripped, and slammed down on the person in front of me, who knocked down the person in front of him, and it just kept' on going, like human dominoes. Everyone else, that wasn't in the line, laughed hysterically. Even the lunch-aids! I felt so stupid!
  2. In social studies, I sat next to this really sultry guy. Before class started, I flirted with him. He flirted back too, but only because he thought it was a joke. When the end-of-class-bell rang, this girl from the front of the class, went up to him, and kissed him. I felt really stupid. Of course he had a girlfriend. I blushed, and ran out of the room.
  3. After my last period of the day, math, I was at my locker, and a girl I barely knew came up to me. She just said "Hey. Wanna hang out?" I just said sure, and she said to meet her at the front of the building. I said okay. So I met up with her, and we went to her house. When we got there, I asked what she wanted to do. She lead me up to her bedroom, closed the door, and started stripping down! I asked her what she was doing, and she just said less talking, more rubbing, and started stripping me down! I would've stopped, but she held me in, so I couldn't. The next day, everyone knew what happened.
After then, everything just got worse. Back to reality, we were at the airport. We got out of the taxi, and walked inside with all of our bags.

*skipping the airport and plane ride*

We just got off the plane, and already, nothing feels like home. All it feels like is this foreign country where we aren't welcome. It felt as if everyone was staring at me so intently, burning holes straight into my soul. I never made eye contact, but just kept' on walking forwards. When we got our luggage and caught a taxi. I just couldn't stop thinking about how every second, we were getting farther away from my home. At least it still feels like my home.
We got to our new home in about 25 minutes. It didn't look like my home. My mom thanked the taxi driver, payed him, then we got out. My mom got the keys out of her striking black purse, and unlocked the door. I walked inside. This was my new home now. It definitely didn't feel like it. There were brand - spanking new stained hardwood floors, a large, "ancient" looking chandelier that looked like it costs about 100,000 dollars, and almost bleached looking white granite counter tops in the kitchen. This is exactly what I don't like. New. Everything here was brand spankin' new! I don't think anything feels like home unless it smells like home, looks used and comfortable, and almost feels like it is a part of you. This felt nothing like that! It smells like cleaner, looks new and "spiky", and reminds me of a hotel room, but with way fancier decorations. I couldn't stand it anymore.
"Mom, I am going outside."
"Okay! Why don't you go meet the neighbors while you're at it? See if there are any kids your age around."
"Okay, bye!" I stepped out of the house to take a breath of that odd, England air. I walked straight across the street to start with them first. It turns out, it is a very nice elderly couple. They made you feel comfortable as soon as they opened the door. They could almost be my grandparents! Next, I walked back over to my side of the street, and went to the house on the left. As soon as the boy opened the door, I nearly fainted. It was The Harry Styles! Oh my god! I must have looked pretty spaced out, because he said
"Hello, love! Are you okay?"
"Um, hi. I just moved here to the house on the left. I was going around to meet the neighbors."
"Oh! Welcome to the neighborhood! My name is Harry. Harry Styles."
"I know." Oops. I blushed. He just chuckled.
"How about I give you a tour around?" He smiled.
"Sure! That sounds great!" Yay! Harry Styles was going to give me a tour! OMG!
"Here's my number, call me when you are ready!" He smiled again, then closed the door. Well, now I have to get ready for my tour! What should I wear?
