Abi was ten years old when she found out she had to get a kidney transplant. She didn't even understand what that meant when it happened, nor did she really care. She just knew something was wrong and she wanted to be a normal kid again. Nearly 9 years later, her mother fills her in on a little secret. The only reason she even got a kidney as fast as she did was because the person who donated it had specifically given them orders to give it to her and no one else. It was a strange thought and now Abi was full of more questions. She wanted a name or an age of the person who may have quite possibly saved her life, but not even her mother could tell her who had been so kind as to give p a kidney for her.

Now that she's older and understands what happened, she's determined to find the person who her kidney belonged to, but it's not as easy as she would like. There's a whole list of doctors she has to go through until finally she runs across the first one to ever who have treated her. He was the one who performed the surgery. He had to know right? Yet she couldn't get in touch with him, only learning that he had retired and moved to London with his wife nearly five years ago.

Frustrated with the chips that have been handed to her, she finds herself determined to find the doctor who knows the deepest darkest secret about herself. The person who she now owns part of and when she does find him, she's rather startled by who it just so happens to be.
