Business Proposal

Confessions

Harry POV
The next two weeks, Rose avoided Harry whenever he was in the house, Harry took some care to be away from home as much as he could, but he hates that Rose had took Aria to stay with her parents till she was ready to talk. He knows that Rose needed some space but he didn’t intent for their relationship to go on like this for much longer, because it was stressful for all of them including their daughter. Harry was scared that he was going to lose the bond that he had with Aria and most importantly he didn’t wish to come home one day and finding them gone. He needed the carefree and happy life they had been building before the supplement. Surprising himself, he called his sister asking her to join him for dinner. Gwen and Rose got along well, but Harry knew that Gwen understood his own thinking and his own reasons for behaving as he did.
During their dinner, Harry told Gwen about the whole situation with his marriage including their uncle’s will, forcing Rose into the plan after Lilli had cold feet, and about the divorce. Harry could tell that Gwen was shocked but she didn’t judge him.
“Gwen, I need your advice on this please,” he said with a pleasing heart of a man that is about to lose everything that made him happy.
“Harry, does Mel wants the divorce?”
“Gwen, she is unhappy being in this marriage.”
“I want you to talk to her, maybe she would see some sense if it coming from you.”
“Okay I would try my best.”
“Thank you.”
“No, Harry thanks to Mel because her being married to you had changed you from being cold to being warm. And I hope this works because she is good for you.”
“So what would happen to Aria?”
“To be honest with you I don’t know, Gwen. I can’t claim her because Rose signed the papers and now I wished that I had signed those papers.”
They both chat about their childhood together and Harry was happy that his sister would help him talk some sense into his stubborn wife.

Mel POV
Mel was in her office reading some clients file, when she heard a light knock on the door. Looking up, she was pleased to see her sister-in-law standing in her office. She went around her desk to hug Gwen, smiling warmly. But Gwen didn’t look happy to be there because she looked kind of stressed. Mel looked at her in concern. “Gwen, what’s wrong?”
Gwen sighed. “Mel, you’re my best friend. Harry told me last night about the will and what he said to you. So I come over here so that we could talk.”
Gwen,” Mel interrupted gently. “Please come in so that I’ll close the door and then talk.”
“I haven’t slept much since last night, Mel. If harry were married to your sister, Lilli, I would mind my own business. But he is married to you and I think of you as my best friend not my brother’s wife.”
“How much did harry tell you?” she asked.
“He told me about you being angry and he is sacred that you would live with Aria.”
“Well, Aria and Harry have the same last name. So it would be difficult to talk Aria without the permission from the judge and with Harry’s consent.”
“What?”

Gwen POV
“What?” Gwen added. “Does Harry know about this?”
“Nah, he doesn’t and I would keep it that way for now.”
Gwen didn’t seem to know where to begin now that she was in Mel’s office.
“I know about my uncle’s will before Harry,” she added, turning toward Mel and looking directly into her eyes.
Mel just nodded. “Huh Ok.”
“Look, Mel. I think Harry is falling in love with you. All of his life, he’s been closed off from all emotion after our father left and I was the same too. But I stopped caring about our father departure and focus on being myself. But harry was a wreck no one knew how to deal with his emotions even Robin tried. Our uncle brought Harry to the states for his to work in the family business, but over time Harry got harder and harder and he was just turning into our dad. Our uncle wrote his will because he saw that Harry was trying to lose all of his humanity because he was angry at our dad for living.”
Mel opened her mouth to speak, but she had no words but she just shook her head and stayed silent.
“If he chooses to divorce you out of some misguided sense of duty to you, he will be giving up on the best thing that ever happened to him and that you and Aria. He is doing this because he feels guilty for pulling you into this and if he stays with you, without telling you about the supplement and that would be a secret that would drive a wedge between the two of you. And if the condition of the will ever got out particularly if you did stay together and added two more kids to Aria, you’d wonder if it was because he loved you or if he wanted the money.”
“Gwen, who else knows about our marriage and about the original, will?”
“Just me, Harry and his lawyer and my uncle’s lawyer.”
“I didn’t think you knew, to be honest.”
“Neither did Harry. Uncle Harrison had talked to me about it before he wrote the will. I tried to discourage him but he didn’t listen. He knew that Harry would take over the family business because he didn’t have a child, but he need a strong woman by Harry’s side because to be honest your husband came to a stage were women begged to have him. Plus uncle knew that I wouldn’t marry someone that I didn’t love for money and plus I am not in the business and I don’t know how to run one so he had nothing to hold on me.”
“Wow.”
“Yeah.”
“So that’s why you weren’t taken aback by our having separate bedrooms,” Mel said.
“Well I was hoping that you might have gotten together, but I wasn’t completely surprised because Harry is who he is and I was more surprised of him taking the role as a father to Aria. Harry is not easy to love but ever since you and that little girl of your, Harry had a heart of gold, he seem more happy and engaged in life.”
“So now what?” asked Mel.
“Have you talked to him?”
“I tried, but he said that we were staying together and that was the end of the discussion. Gwen, the will might be letting Harry out of the bargain, but nothing had changed. I’m still married to him unless Harry wants to let me out. And I’m screwed no matter what, Gwen,” she said softly. “I’m falling for your brother and he doesn’t feel the same way.”
“Have you considered the fact that he may not want to let you go?”
“No, Gwen, believe me your brother is not interested in a relationship with me.”
But Gwen looked at her questioningly. “What would Harry be able to do to convince you that he really cared about you?”
“Huh to show he is honest emotion about us and the real truth, I think I’ll be able to believe that, Gwen. You have that with Hayden, when he looks at you. But Harry and I don’t have that.”
“I’ve seen him look at you,” Gwen pointed out.
Mel smiled sadly. “With curiosity or when we argued and he doesn’t know what to make of me.”
“Nah, Mel it more than that.”
“Not yet, Gwen, I wish but I need to be realistic.”
Gwen reached out and gave Mel a hug. “My brother is a moron. I just think that he’s buried his heart behind a wall and I think that you’re breaking down that wall down.”
Mel laughed. “Sure, Gwen. Do you want to go and get margaritas with me?”
“Yup but I would text Hayden to pick us up later so that we’re not driving.”

They went to the bar and talked for hours till late when Hayden picked them up because they were too tipsy to drive.Minutes later, Hayden was pulling up in front of Harry’s home and Mel steeped out leaning down to talk to Hayden and Gwen through the window.
“Thanks for the ride, Hayden. And Gwen thank you for talking to me today and for being a friend when I needed one.”
“Right back at you,” Gwen said reaching out to squeeze her hand. “Call me and let me know that you’re all right.”
“I will. Goodnight,” she said softly as they drove away. She took a deep breath and headed toward the door. The lights were on and Harry was home. This ought to be interesting, she thought.
