Four Years Married

Ghost

The afternoon went by pretty fast, I watched Lily and Ted play and then she helped me put him down for a nap when he got too fussy, and then she helped me make lunch. And after delivering the sandwiches to them I sat with Lily while we enjoyed our own. By then it was about time to get Hazel, so rather then interrupting Harry to get her, I just slid my head into the office to tell him I'd be right back, that I was leaving Ted to sleep, but I'd be taking Lily with me, to get our daughter from school. Zayn thanked me again for watching her and after Harry came to kiss my cheek Lily and I headed off.

When we got to the school yard, the play ground was full of kids, not only Hazel and Lily's age but some considerably older then them. I search for her, trying to see who she was hanging out. I was heart broken when I found her sitting next to Ms. Chad with a good amount of tears running down her face. I ran to her almost breaking down in tears myself.

"Honey!" I called and she ran to me. Ms. Chad stood making her way towards me. "What wrong sweetie?" I asked trying to look her in the eyes.

"Some older students were making fun of her." I was informed. I could feel the fire burning through my veins, how dare another person make my child feel this way.

"Don't worry, it's all right, you don't have to listen to them." I said to her then stood at my full height to ask her teacher what all went down. "Why were they teasing her?"

"It seems that some of the older students think it's funny that your husband is in that boy band still." I was confused. It wasn't like they were all in their forty's, heck they were all still in their earlyish twenties. They were still young, it shouldn't matter how old the are anyhow. They're still making music, that's whats important.
"Sweetie, let's go home, I'm sure Lily would really like to play with you." Lily who had hugged Hazel once when she saw her crying was now smiling at the notion of playing with her best friend.

We stop for a treat on the way home in hopes of making Hazel forget what had happened. I on the other hand still couldn't believe someone had the audacity to hurt her.

"Can I talk to you?" I ask Harry as he sat with the boys in the kitchen. "Sorry if you're doing something, but it's important." I tugged his hand behind me making our way back to our bedroom trying to be away from everyone.

"We've got guests, but if you can't wait." He chuckled.

"It's not that." I'd hoped Harry could see how sad I was. When his eye glazed over in the familiar way they usually did when he was concerned I knew he could tell.

"What's wrong?" He asked tilting my head up so I could look him in the eyes.

"Kids at Hazel's school are making fun of her. When I picked her up she was in tears."

"Did anyone say why?" I was reluctant to tell him. He and I were weary about bringing up a child in the public. We should have sent her to private school, I mentally kick myself in the butt.

"Ms. Chad said it was cause you're still working." He looked down instantly, the pain I felt for my daughter was now split with the pain I felt for Harry. He was guilty and I could tell.

"It's not like you're doing it on purpose." I try to comfort. "It's your job, it's how to support Hazel, Teddy and I. You can't help it that you've aged a few years since you started." The words keep pouring out in hopes he finds comfort in them. I hug him tight also hoping he won't think about it too hard.

"What are we going to do about the bullies." He asked.\

"Emh, maybe we should contact their parents if it keep happening. I'm sure since Hazel was with Ms. Chad their teacher's reprimanded them."

"What if they didn't."

"Then we should talk to their parents." A silence wafts between us while we think. "It was just so terrible seeing her so sad, It looked like she had been crying for a while." I went back into Harry's arms, he held me close while I buried my face into his neck. My eyes threatened to spill tears the longer I thought about it.

"Do you think we're making too big a deal?" He asked. I think about it for a moment.

"I think we're just concerned for our daughter. Back when we were in school bullying was a serious issue. I'm honestly surprised kids still find things to pick on other kids for."

We were interrupt by Ted's screams from being woken up. Harry and I rushed to his room to come to our little guy's rescue. I picked him up, holding him close to me to comfort him. As he rested his tear stained face on my shoulder, Harry put his hand on his back. I felt little Ted melt down in calmness with both Harry and I so close to him.

"Awww." Louis whispered. We turned around to find Louis and Niall peering in the door way from the hallway.

"One day you'll have this." Harry chuckles as we walk out the room.

"Where's Liam and Zayn?"

"They went outside to play with Hazel and Lily. Is everything all right?"

"Just some bullies at school."

"Anyone we need to go beat up?" Niall put up his fists, which I put back down denying him of the physical harm to a kid.

"Chill out they're just kids." I laughed. "I don't think it'd help either, the kids were making fun of her because of One Direction." Their faces fell. "Harry and I have it under control." I assured them. "If it persist though I'll let you and the boys go terrorize the children." My laughter defusing the bomb full of tension.

We went out the backyard to find Lily on Zayn's back and Hazel on Liam's. They were running around the yard laughing and screaming .

"We should go finish the thing." Harry gestured towards the house. Lily and Hazel had joined hands as we all made our way back to the house. Harry took the lead with me and Louis behind him and then Niall, and behind Niall Liam had Hazel on her back while Zayn had Lily on his shoulders.

Harry grabbed the door handle and attempted to open the door.

"Did you lock it babe?" Harry asked when it wouldn't budge. I looked at him confused, reaching to open it open myself.

"No. Did you?"I tried to force it open but it wouldn't move. I looked to Harry for an explanations. "Louis you didn't lock the door when you walked out, did you?" His left eye brow was cocked up instantly making his forehead crinkle. It clear he had no idea what we were talking about. Niall, Zayn, and Liam all looked confused as well, holding only slight variations of Louis' expression.

"It seems we're locked out, we'll have to go around." Harry explained taking the lead again around the house to the front door. When we walked past the window of the library Teddy seemed to be very interested in something he saw. Reaching out his hands and grabbing for something.

"What is it little guy?" I smiled down trying to get his attention. When looked in the window he started crying. I cradled him in attempt to calm him.

"Whys he cryin'?" Niall yelled up to me.

"I don't know."

"Maybe he needs to be changed?" Liam suggested.

"I'll check when we get back in the house."

Harry ran up to the door to open it. This time the knob turned and it was even cracked open before it was thrust shut in Harry's face. Nearly throwing Teddy to which ever boy was closest I ran up ahead to talk to Harry.

"I don't know. It must have been the wind."

"What if you've got ghosts?" Louis laughed, making both the girls scream.

"We haven't got ghosts, they aren't real." I assured the girls while Liam and Zayn tried to comfort them.

"Look at what you've done." I groaned reference to the crying kids around us.
It took some giggling, but Harry got the door open. Liam was holding Hazel as she cried some more.

"I don't want to go in!" She screamed.

"There isn't anything in there. It's fine the house it fine. Remember the other day when we went out to play and we couldn't get in because the door had locked behind us. It's the same thing."

"Yeah, sweetie." Harry took her from Liam, taking her almost by force back into the house. Louis and Niall tried to set good examples by going in first. "Look, Teddy is in there with Louis and Niall." Then I went in. "Even mummy is in there." I smiled at her taking Ted in my arms.
"Look there's nothing in here. It was just fine." Harry hesitantly walked in, Hazel drying her own eyes. He stood next to me, but she still looked uncomfortable.

"Would you like it if maybe Uncle Lou, and Uncle Liam, and Uncle Niall stayed for dinner?" I asked in hopes of changing the subject. She nodded. "How about you invite them?"

"Uncle Louis, Uncle Niall, Uncle Liam?" They looked up from the conversation they were having. Harry looked at me, confused. "Will you stay for dinner? Dad's making burgers, Aunt Perrie and Zayn and Lily are gunna stay, will you?" She had her head resting on Harry's shoulder.

"What was that?" Louis smiled walking towards her with his hands out stretched. "What did you say?" HE brought his face close to hers. "Did you ask for us to stay for dinner?" Liam came up behind Louis.

"No, I think she asked for tickles." He poked at her side. Niall and Louis joining in. I silently thanked Louis for making her laugh again. Her sweet little giggle rang through out the whole room. As Harry handed her off to Liam, Niall went over to Lily, attacking her with his hands and tickling her sides. Both the girls cried out in laughter as their Incles made them forget they were afraid.
