chapter 8

There was absolutely no doubt in my mind that the following morning would be awkward. Perrie called my phone when she knew everyone was settled in to tell me that we would all be having breakfast together tomorrow. ‘Great,’ I thought to myself, ‘Why not just shoot me?’ This wasn’t going to go well.
I was so nervous about how the next day was going to turn out. In fact, I was so nervous that I didn’t get any sleep the entire night. I lied down on my bed and looked up at the ceiling. Occasionally, I would find myself walking out onto the balcony to get some air, in hopes that maybe some fresh air would make me fall asleep. I have never been so wrong in my entire life. All I ever did was walk around, and listen to Harry knocking occasionally on my bedroom door. Whenever I heard those knocks, I pretended to be asleep.
However, I knew that I wasn’t going to be able to hide from him forever. Morning had to come. I had to come out of the room eventually. If I didn’t come out, Perrie would drag me out. My options were limited. As predicted, the sun came up sooner that I ever thought it would.
The crack of dawn met my eyes. Amazingly, I was not tired in the least bit. I just looked around my room as I tried to find an excuse to come out of my bedroom as late as possible. A shower might do the trick. I made my way to the bathroom without even second guessing myself. Not too long after I made my way into the shower, there was a knock.
“Mitchie?” Perrie asked. “Are you in there?”
“Yeah.” I replied.
“It’s time to eat!” She exclaimed. “It’s seven!”
“Uhm,” I started, “I’ll be down in a little while. I’m in the shower.”
I heard her sigh hugely, “Don’t be too late.”
“Oh, alright.” I said with a sigh. I knew the truth had come to face me. I had to go down and come face to face with Harry. I got myself out of the shower, and put on the clothes I had laid out. After a few minutes of drying my hair and doing my makeup, I slowly made my way to the kitchen.
I was just about filled with anger when I walked down to see that only Perrie was downstairs.
“Where are the others?” I asked, trying to hold my anger.
She shrugged, “I told them all to come down.”
I screamed at her, “You’re just now starting on making the food!”
She smiled, “Well, I want to make sure everyone is down here when it’s ready.”
I rolled my eyes, “I’m going to go finish my hair then. I’ll see you later.”
As I walked up the stairs, I heard her say, “Hurry back!”
“Yeah, yeah!” I said.
*****
My peace was short lived. At the exact moment I finished curling my hair and fixing my makeup, I heard a knock at the door.
“I’ll be down when I’m ready, Perrie!” I shouted.
“It’s not Perrie. It’s Louis. Can we talk?” He asked me
I groaned, “Well, can it not wait?”
“I suppose, but I’d rather get it out of the way before Harry wakes up.” Louis stated.
“The door’s unlocked,” I said. “Come right in!”
I heard the door open and Louis’s footsteps reach my bathroom. I let my eye lazily meet with him in the doorway, “What is it you need?”
“I know Harry tried to kiss you.” He bluntly said.
“Well, I’m sure the entire house knows that.” I said.
“I was the only one up. Well, besides Perrie. That isn’t the point. The point is, be careful.” He told me.
I looked at him, “You don’t know me, and you care that much?”
He walked over, “No.”
“Then what?”
“I say be careful, because I know how Harry is. If he falls in love, he falls deep. I can easily tell that he’s trying to get to you. Don’t hurt him.”
I looked at Louis confused, “I have no idea what you’re talking about. I have no interest of being involved with him.”
“That’s what they all said.” Louis confessed.
“I’m not like the others.” I defended myself.
He chuckled, “They said that too.”
I put away my iron, turned to him, and placed my hands on my hips, “Maybe you should go if you’re going to look at me like a huge bad guy.”
Louis raised his arms, “I’m not saying you’re the bad guy. I’m just telling you to watch your back. It’ll be for your own good, and his. If you do end up together, you have to be so very careful.”
To put an end to the discussion, I just groaned and said, “Alright, Alright. I will.” I watched as he nodded and walked out of my bedroom. Now, it was time to meet Harry face to face.
****
The nervousness did not fade away in the least bit. As I walked down the stairs, I felt like I would vomit at any given time. Slowly, I came into the dining room, and I saw him sitting in the chair across from mine. I could feel his eyes on me the entire time. From the moment I walked in, right to the moment I saw in front of him.
Everyone in the room was completely oblivious to Harry locking his sight on me it seemed. I wasn’t sure how to respond. I didn’t want to look up from my plate. I ignored every question, and or statement that came my way. I was so distracted trying to look down that I didn’t even hear Cierra apologize to me about the incident last night. Liam broke my trance.
“Hey, Mitchie,” Liam said. “could you pass the pepper?”
I looked up, “Oh, sure.” I passed the shaker to Liam. Harry kept his eyes on me. By this time, I was so uncomfortable that I had to excuse myself from the room, and walk outside to get some air.
I heard footsteps come behind me. I was afraid to turn around because I knew who it was. The familiar smell of cologne was strong. I could just barely turn my eye to look out of the corner, and see him. I let out a few deep breathes and prepared for what he had to say.
“What happened last night?” He asked me.
I turned around, “You tell me. I just met you, and there you were trying to kiss me. What’s the big idea?”
Harry looked down at the ground, “I don’t know”
“Exactly,” I started. “You don’t know me, and I don’t know you. I only know what you told me, and that isn’t enough to allow you to try to place your lips on mine!”
He looked up at me, “What if I told you we could get to know each other then?”
“That isn’t good enough!” I objected. “I don’t want a relationship. I don’t want to end up like these girls you see on T.V.! All these relationships end up the same way.”
“And how is that?”
“They either get an STD, someone leaves, or the girl gets pregnant. I’m not going to end up that way.”
He walked over to me, “I wouldn’t do any of that.” He tried to grab my hand.
I backed up, “I do not know you!” I tried to explain, “I’m not ready for a serious relationship.”
He groaned, “What will it take then?”
I folded my arms, “You won’t stop until I tell you?”
“Nope.” He smiled a cheeky smile.
I sighed, “Come back to me in about a week or two.”
He smirked, “Just you wait.”
“What?” I asked.
“You’ll see.” He smiled, “You’ll end up being mine by the end of this vacation!”
“Good luck with that.” I said as I walked past him back into the dining room.
