Before The Mess

Chaos

I was exhausted.

It had been an exceptionally long day and all I wanted to do was go home and curl up on the couch in my quiet apartment and let me frazzled brain rest.

That was what I wanted.

What I got was chaos as soon as I opened the door.

My normally pristine kitchen was covered in chopped up vegetables and what I could assume, and prayed, was vegetable juice splashed across the tiled wall. On the counter tops and on the floor, I noted, there were strips of raw meat.

My jaw clenched as my eyes finally landed on the two boys in the corner of my kitchen, frozen, staring at me in fear. Louis with a wooden spoon in hand and Harry with a hand full of chopped veggies. Both were covered in food.

I took a few deep breathes trying to calm the urge to beat the living crap out of both of them.

“What...” another deep breath through my nose, “in the HELL happened here?”

Both boys looked at me, then each other, then me again. Like I was stuck in some damn old time comedy they both pointed at each other with out saying a word.

“Don’t you two have your own place to destroy. Why do you have to come to mine?”

“We don’t have any food at ours.” Louis spoke meekly.

My fingers found their way to the bridge of my nose. All I had wanted was to relax, why was that so hard.

“You two have no idea how close you are to me actually murdering you.”

“We were trying to cook for you.” Louis supplied, his voice gaining a little confidence.

My eyes widened dangerously. “Was I meant to eat it off the walls?”

“Well the thing is, Harry here decided to get mischievous, like he does, and dropped a handful of peppers down my shirt and I couldn’t just let him get away with that now could I?”

“Obviously.” I mocked.

“See.” Louis said pointing the spoon at me. “So I threw some of the salsa at him. It’s homemade by the way.”

I looked around at the red splatters on my wall. I wondered how much of that was from their little fight and how much was from the actual effort to make it.

My eyes landed back on the curly headed boy who was quitely eyeing me in the corner, hand still gripped around red and green peppers. “And what do you have to say for yourself?”

Harry straightened up and hide his hands behind his back before flashing me his best smile. “Let me begin by saying how lovely you look tonight, Dee,” I narrowed my eyes at him not buying his charm for one moment. “It’s all Louis fault.” He finally decided blaming it on someone else was a better approach then trying to work me over.

“Thanks a lot mate.” Louis said slapping Harry’s chest with the spoon, looking very offended. Harry just shrugged at Louis.

“I don’t really care who’s fault it is. All I know is you two better clean this up.”

Not a second after I finished speaking did there come a knock at my door. Again my eyes narrowed suspiciously at the two boys as they scrambled to clean my messy kitchen.

To say I was surprised to see Liam at my door would be a lie. It just figured Louis and Harry would call Daddy Direction to clean up there mess, literally.

“Hey Liam, I’m assuming Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dumb called you.” I greeted opening the door wide enough for him to enter. He kissed my cheek as he walked in turning to look at me when he did.

He chuckled and nodded as I lead him to the kitchen where the two spawns of satin were busy cleaning my kitchen.

“Whoa.” Liam exclaimed.

“Yup.” I said popping the ‘p’ as we both lend on opposite ends of the wide doorway to watch Harry and Louis.

“LIAM!” Harry shouted excitedly when he saw him.

“Don’t you dare ask him to help, Harold. You two made this mess you two can clean it up.”

I was sounding an awful lot like my mother, but I couldn’t be bothered to care.

Both Louis and Harry pouted as I smiled sweetly at them then turning to Liam. “Want to order a pizza?”

Liam looked at the two boys cleaning, who both looked incredulously at me, and shrugged. “Sure.”

“Wait, I cooked for you.” Harry whined, jumping over the trash bag Louis had just pulled out and grabbing onto my hand.

“Did you now? How much of it is actually edible?” I asked flashing him a smile letting him know I was joking.

“All of it. Don’t you know I’m a master in the kitchen.” He returned my smile and grabbed my hand dragging me behind him until I was standing in front of the stove. He snatched the spoon from Louis, rinsing it in the sink before taking it and scooping some of the little bit of food that actually made it to be cooked out of the pan. “Among other places.” He wiggled his eyebrows as he said the last thing.

I rolled my eyes, and I highly suspected Liam did too. Louis just chuckled and shook his head.

I wasn’t going to argue about his culinary skills though. Everyone knew Harry’s fajitas were incredible. I watched as he blew on the steaming food, one hand holding it and the other cupped under it to keep from it dripping.

“Open.” He instructed, nodding at me for emphases.

I felt like a child, the way he was feeding me, and it was a little more then awkward that Louis and Liam were both watching as Harry did so.

Regardless of any of that, I did as he asked trying to hide my smile.

The only way to describe to someone what Harry’s fajitas tasted like would be heaven in your mouth.

Before I could control it my eyes rolled shut and my whole body sagged. It was incredible how well he could cook. I had to remember to hug Anne the next time I saw her for teaching her child well.

“Oh my god Harry.” I moaned out.

“Now that takes talent my friend.” Louis’ giddy voice sounded through my euphoria.

“I think you’ve given her a food orgasm.” He finished making my eyes shoot open.

Harry’s face resembled a tomato in color but he still managed to flash me a cheeky smile. He was too damn pleased with himself.

I finished chewing, swallowed and narrowed my eyes into a glare at the two boys casually leaning against each other watching me with cocky smiles. “I hate you both.”

I turned to Liam who had the decency to try to hide his smirk behind his hand.

I pointed a finger at him causing him to cough and straighten up, still trying very hard to keep the smile off his face but in the end failing.

“Ugh. This is why Zayn and Niall are my favorites.” I scoffed, stomping out of the room leaving the three to their hysterical laughing.
