It had been a week since Annibell had been trapped here. Three weeks of being trapped in the excessively large basement. She wasn’t exactly complaining, but she just wanted to go back to the orphanage, where her friends and younger sister was. Her sister was all alone now, stuck in the place. Her sister, Marie, was only four. She had more of a chance of getting adopted, and if she did Annibell would never be able to say goodbye to her. She started to cry, something she had become very familiar with the past week. Harry appeared at the door, opening it and quickly making his way over to her.
“What’s wrong?” He asked, putting his arm around her shoulder and rocking her back and forth.
“I want to leave, why won’t you let me leave?” She asked, burying her face in her hands. Harry furrowed his brow, clenching his fists.
“Because, I don’t want to be lonely.” He said loudly, and angrily. Annibell winced slightly. “Why can’t you just be my friend?” He shouted, standing up and punching the wall. Annibell moved farther away from him, as he continued to throw things around.
“FINE, I’LL BE YOUR FRIEND!” She shouted, standing up slowly holding her arm out towards him. Harry slowly became calm, taking a deep breath.
“Really?” He asked, a hint of happiness lining his voice. Annibell nodded, making Harry smile.
“But, you can’t keep me locked up in this fucking basement. You have to give me my own room, and treat me like a guest. Do you understand?” She asked forcefully. Harry nodded.
“But if you try to escape, I will hurt you. I’m trusting you enough to allow you to be a guest here, and roam freely. The least you could do is stay here.” Harry said. Annibell nodded in agreement, before holding out her hand. Harry took it, a smile creeping onto his face.
Harry showed Annibell to her room, leaving her to get used to it. It had a large walk in closet, although she had absolutely no close to put in it, and a bathroom of her very own. She smiled, as she sat down on the large king sized bed, drinking in her surroundings.
After she was done marveling the sight of her new room, she went out to the living room, where Harry was sitting. There was a cheesy soap opera on the television, but he wasn’t paying attention to it. He was fiddling with rubix cube he had earlier. When he couldn’t figure it out, he threw it at the wall. He must not’ve noticed Annibell standing in the doorway, cause when he looked over, he jumped off the couch.
“Oh, hi. I-I didn’t see you there.” He said, his face turning into a dark shade of red. Annibell chuckled, actually feeling comfortable in Harry’s presence for the first time since she had been locked up here.
“Uh, I just wanted to let you know I was hungry. I didn’t want to be rude, and just go through your cupboards.” Annibell said, feeling shy. Harry smiled, walking towards kitchen, grabbing her wrist as he went by. He dragged her a long, and stopped in the doorway.
“All the food is either in the fridge, or in these three cupboards.” He said, motioning to the cupboards lined to the right of the fridge. “Every sunday, someone leaves a weeks worth of food on my front porch. I don’t know why, they just always have. I don’t even know who it is.” Harry said, opening the fridge. “What would you like to eat?” He asked, poking his head around the side of the fridge door. Annibell shrugged, not sure. Harry rolled his eyes, and slammed the door shut. “Come on, you’re not fucking helping me here.” He hollered, crossing his arms. Annibell took a step back, frowning.
“That’s not a way to treat a ‘friend’, Harry.” Annibell said angrily, crossing her arms as well. Harry closed his eyes, and sighed.
“Sorry, how about you come have a look.” He said, stepping away from the fridge. Annibell hesitantly made her way over, looking at Harry before pulling the fridge open. iI was stocked with food, as if Harry rarely ever opened the fridge. She spotted an apple in one of the drawers, and took it out.
“Can I have this?” She asked, holding it up in front of Harry.
“Go for it.” He said sounding annoyed. She closed the fridge door, and took a bite from the apple. It made her feel like a kid again. When her and her parents would go to the apple orchard. She felt nostalgia hit her hard, as tears began to well in her eyes. She turned away from Harry, thanking him for the apple, before quickly running off towards her room.
