Perfect To Me

Giving Me A Heart Attack

I heard a phone going off like crazy and when I cracked my eye open the bedside clock said it was almost noon, when I looked at my phone I noticed it wasn’t lighting up but Abby’s phone was. I quickly groaned before flipping over to face the girl who is to blame for all the ruckus going on. I began shaking her softly so I didn’t wake her up in a rude manner but the girl didn’t budge.

“Abby, your phone is ringing will you answer it please,” I said into her ear but all I got in response was a groan and her pushing me away.

“Love, please answer your phone!” I said and all Abby did was bury herself further into the duvet. “Abby answer your telly!” I yelled this time and she slapped her hand over my mouth and held it there firmly. I decided to lick her hand and she pulled it away as she groaned.

“Fine, since you don’t want to answer it then I will,” I told her as I slid the phone off the table and answered it.

“Abby’s phone, this is Harry how might I be of assistance?” I tiredly said into the phone.

“Excuse me?” A man on the other end said and I got confused the only man that ever called Abby was her granddad.

“Uh may I ask who is calling?” I said after looking at the screen to see it was an unknown number.

“This is Phillip Grimes, Abby’s father, who is this?” The man, Phillip said. When I realized he said he was Abby’s father my mouth fell open.

“Uhm, this is Harry, Harry Styles. I’m friends with Abby,” I told him, mentally slapping myself for looking stupid because why am I answering his daughter’s phone if we’re just friends.

“Where is Abigail?”

“Sleeping, I tried waking her up but she didn’t budge,” I told him again slapping myself mentally for basically giving away we were in bed together.

“Typical Abigail. Tell her it’s her father and I wish to speak to her immediately,” he sternly said. I pressed my hand over the speaker so he wouldn’t hear me talking to Abby.

“Darling it’s your father, wake up. He wants to speak with you,” I told her and her head snapped up from under the duvet with confusion written all over her face.

“It’s WHO?” She asked in shock.

“Phillip Grimes? He says he’s your father?” I told her while looking down at the phone. She quickly grabbed the phone out of my hand and put it on speaker.

“Hello?” She hesitantly said.

“Abigail? It’s your father,” Mr. Grimes said as Abby answered.

“Dad, what do you want?”

“Well we haven’t spoken to you in 3 years since you left Stanford so I wanted to check up on you,” he said and it almost sounded like he was hurt.

“How’d you get my number?” She asked, anger growing in her voice.

“Your grandmother gave it to me.”

“What makes you think it’s okay to call me after not saying a word to me in three years dad? Especially to just ‘check up on me’ are you mental? If you wanted to see how I was doing you would have called me sooner. I’m afraid you’re three years too late,” Abby angrily said into the phone, I rubbed her back soothingly letting her know I was here for her.

“Abigail your mother and I miss you, we made a mistake can’t you forgive us?” Her dad pleaded and I almost felt sorry for the man.

“No I cannot. You and mom were the reason for my depression back in San Diego. You set a map for where my life would go and you didn’t let me pick my own route. You two drove me away and now you need to continue to pay for it. You two are the reason I was never happy in California or Ohio, and I’m happy now so just leave me be.”

“I suppose your happiness wouldn’t be because of the boy that answered the telephone would it? I thought I raised you to not let a boy get in the way of things, especially one with such a high title. Really Abigail a singer in a boy band? You can do better,” her dad argued and I began to grow angry myself.

“That boy dad is one of the nicest guys I’ve met, and when I met him I had no idea who he was so to me he was just random boy I met on the streets here, not a singer in a boy band. And how do you know I can do better? You’ve never met Harry and you don’t know him like I do so butt out of my life. I don’t appreciate you calling me, waking me and my boyfriend up from our slumber, to check up on me after three years of no communication when really all you’re doing is lecturing me about my choice in a boyfriend. So if you’ll excuse I’m going to go back to sleep now,” Abby seethed into the phone but all I really cared about was the fact that she called me her boyfriend. She hung up the phone and tossed it on the bed as she threw her head into her hands.

“Hey what’s wrong?” I asked her as I continued to rub her back.

“He’s just so frustrating and judgmental!” She exclaimed as she pulled at her hair. I took her hands in mine as I just smiled at her.

“What are you smiling about?” She asked curiously.

“While you were being sassy to your father you called me your boyfriend….twice,” I told her with an amused smile on my face.

“No I didn’t?” Abby said shaking her head.

“Yeah you did, I wouldn’t lie about that.”

“Did I really?” She asked in disbelief and I nodded my head. “Oh god, Harry I’m so sorry, I was just angry and that’s the first word that came to mind,” she started to ramble so to shut her up I pressed my lips against hers.

“It’s okay, love.”

“I know we aren’t boyfriend and girlfriend, and I’m sorry,” Abby said while gazing into my eyes.

“Don’t worry about it,” I told her as I kissed her knuckles. “Do you want to go back to bed?” I asked her as I played with a piece of her hair.

“No, I’m wide awake now,” she said as she climbed out of bed and slipped on my sweatpants and my shirt as she walked out of her room. I quickly climbed out of her bed and put my briefs on and followed her to her kitchen.

“Tea?” She asked as she looked up at me with a smile on her face.

“That’d be lovely,” I said as I walked up behind her and rested my head on her shoulder. She smelled like mint, it was ravishing. “What are you doing today since you don’t work?”

“It’s Thursday right?” Abby asked and I nodded my head. “Danielle and Eleanor are coming over and we are going to out and do a bit of shopping then come back here for a sleepover.”

“Perrie isn’t coming?”

“No she has stuff to do with Little Mix today,” Abby said as she fixed up my tea just the way I liked it and handed it to me.

“That’s too bad, I’m hanging out with the lads today but I’d much rather hang out with you love.”

“Harry, hang out with your friends. You all need it,” Abby said as she sat cross legged on her couch with her cup of tea in hand.

“I know! But you and I have spent every night together since I got back, I’m going to be lonely without you!” I pleaded as I plopped down next to her, careful to not spill my tea.

“You’ll live for one night Harry,” Abby told me as she finished up her tea and walked back into her room.

“Where are you going?!” I whined from the couch.

“To get ready! We’re going out at one thirty!”

“Can I watch you get ready or is that too odd?” I asked her as I approached her in her bedroom.

“It’s weird but be my guest.” I sat on her bed as she got ready and changed into her clothes for the day, I watched her slip her jewelry on and then walk over to her mirror to put on her make up.

“Why do you wear makeup? I like it when you don’t,” I said to her from her bed.

“Because I want to look nice.”

“But you’re like really pretty,” I said to her with a smirk on my face.

“Okay, I still want to look nice Harry.”

“So you agree? You think you’re really pretty?” I said trying to stifle my laughter when Abby spun around with an amused smile on her face.

“Did you just quote Mean Girls?!” Abby exclaimed as she laughed.

“Yes, yes I did,” I told her with a smug grin on my face.

“Oh my gosh, you are the best!” She exclaimed as she waltzed over to me and pecked me on the lips. I grabbed her by her hips and held her there as I continued to kiss her, but then she broke away. “Harold I have to finish my make up!” I watched her as she finished getting ready and once she finished she picked up my clothes and threw them at me.

“Get dressed, the girls will be here shortly, “ Abby commanded as she plopped down on her bed, I slipped my clothes on and then joined her.

“So I really won’t see you at all tonight?” I whined to her and she nodded her head. “That’s not even fair! You’re going to make me snuggle with my pillow? How cruel.”

“Get over it loverboy, I’ll see you tomorrow night.”

I took the time to take in what she was wearing and she was dressed rather nice for going shopping with the girls.

“How come you never dress like this around me?” I asked her as I rubbed my hands down her sides.

“Because you never take me anywhere worth dressing up for,” she nonchalantly said. I pondered her response for a minute and realized she was right, I hadn’t taken her on a proper date.

“Okay, tomorrow night I’ll take you out on a nice date, I’ll wine and dine you baby,” I said to her as I wiggled my eyebrows up and down.

“Harry you don’t have to do that.”

“Shut up, I want to,” I told her as I tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear and let my hand rest on her neck.

“Fine,” she exasperated.

“We’ll go eat a nice supper and then meet up with everyone else at Embassy night club, how does that sound? Kick off the weekend?” I told her as I pecked her lips.

“Sounds fantastic, this has been a long week,” she said as she closed her eyes. After a minute of just laying there her doorbell went off, Abby groaned as she stood up and grabbed her purse.

“Come on, it’s time to head out,” she said and helped me out of her bed. I slipped my shoes on as she greeted the girls and we all walked downstairs together. Abby walked with me to my car where I kissed her goodbye and told her I would text her once I got back to my flat.

I can’t wait for our date tomorrow— I have something planned, thanks to the simple, unexpected phone call from her father.
