*Harry's Pov*

Walking into first period the next morning i heard the hushed whispers being shared. i already knew that everyone had their eyes locked in on alice as she took her seat two desks ahead of me.

"Did you hear?" a soft female voice sounded from behind me.

"Hear what?"

"Apparently player styles ditched that new chick for the baxter freak."

"so a new freak for an old freak?" the second voice giggled.

"Her name's Sam, and she's punkish, not freakish." i sighed hearing Lacey's voice interrupt the annoying conversation.

"Thanks." i said as she took her seat in front of me. Class began a moment after, not giving me the chance to make conversation. it felt as if the information we were getting over some damn war was just dragging on.

"Hey, hows Sam?" i whispered to lacey, hoping she'd be honest. her harsh silence telling me i was in some deep shit.

second hour the whispers mixed with the intense stares and lingering glances.

"so baxter is the next one?" "he sure didn't stick with that new girl long." "from rocker chick to bookworm."

the nasty comments seemed never ending. every minute a new voice added in the avalanche of gossip. third hour came and i was dying to see my girl walk in. though the slight smudging of her mascara disappointed me.

*Sam's Pov*

Walking into first period the next morning i heard the hushed whispers being shared. i could already feel the eyes that raked down my body one by one.

"Did you hear?" the already expected line popped up again as i sunk in my seat in keyboarding.

"hear what?"

"apparently while styles was stuck at home, ridder decided to take payno out for another joy ride." and so the useless rumors began.

"I thought he was going out with Jasmine."

"Exactly."

"good god, poor girl. she must be crushed." i sighed knowing there was no one to stand up for me this time.

As second hour arrived so did the nasty names and rude comments.

"slut." "what? couldn't decide between the two?" "gold digger." "liam could do so much better."

i could feel the frustration building in me. it was sad how stupid everyone sounded, but they didn't know the whole story. i felt the exhaustion creep up as i trudged to health class. i was dreading third hour, knowing harry would make things worse. though finally seeing him him in his desk behind mine hit hard. He broke a promise. And it was easy to tell he hadn't thought of me as he did it. He didn't know i had stayed up till three waiting for that call. he didn't know how much i died to call him a fifth time. and i wasn't going to tell him.

"How are you?" his green eyes digging deep.

"fine." i said turning my back to him as i took my seat.

"Bullshit." he whispered into my ear. his breath burning against my neck. "the bags under your eyes gives you away."

"just shut up styles." i groaned.

"please talk to me, love."

"there's nothing to say."

"Sam I-"

"Mr. Styles pay attention." Ms. Moore interrupted him.

the fourth hour bell rang, dragging us away again. science seemed to be the last thing anyone wanted to focus any energy in as the class kept a constant hum of whispers.
the lunch bell sounded as we all rushed out of the chilled room.

*Harry's Pov*

Derek chewed me out all through fourth hour. though it made the hour pass quicker than listening to the gossip behind me.

by the time we sat at our lunch table i was ready to burst with frustration. I watched as Lacey dragged her into the crowded room. she passed by our table leaving Lacey to sit by derek. Without thought i stood grabbing her wrist roughly. turning her to face me i crushed my lips to hers. shocking not only her, but everyone else in the cafeteria.
