39- Second Thoughts
I stood there dumbfounded. Niall actually bothered to wish me luck? I thought he hated me? Well, I couldn’t think about that now, because I had a mission to complete. I snatched the microphone from the backstage worker’s hand and walked on stage, both hands gripping the mic. I nodded at Simon and he nodded back, our little signal that it was time for me to straighten this out. “Hello Chicago!” the audience cheers. “I have always wanted to come to Chicago and now here I am! Thank you all for coming out tonight!” I looked to the side of the stage to see Demi there, watching the audience. I looked to the front row to see girls glaring at her meanly. I sighed and knew exactly how this would work out.
“As you all know, I overhead Demi and Niall were going to have a date. And I went to twitter and saw a lot of you sending hate to Demi and Niall. I know it is totally wrong of Niall to do such a thing, and right now we aren’t exactly in speaking terms. It was also wrong of Demi to think she can date a married man. I kind of made a mess, and I’m hoping you all can forgive me. I have to fix this, and that’s what I am going to do right now. Demi, why don’t you come up here?”
I looked at Demi waiting for her to come up, but she didn’t budge. I went down and grabbed her wrist, pulling her onto the stage. The crowd was a mix of things, boo’s, cheers, and people screaming their opinions about Demi. I shook it off and finally got her front and center on stage.
“I messed up everyone, and you shouldn’t be booing Demi. I know she tried to take Niall away from me, but that doesn’t mean you all should hate her. It’s my job to control my relationship with Demi and Niall, and I don’t need your help. It was wrong of me to go on twitter about it, and I know I messed up a lot. I’m sorry Demi, and I truly mean it.”
She stood there for a minute, a thinking look on her face. She nodded and responded with a soft “I’m sorry too Rai.” She burst into tears and I hugged her telling her everything was ok. The audience started cheering and I released my hug from Demi. She wiped her eyes and smiled, starting to walk off stage. Rose, Danielle, and Alyssa came on stage and that’s when the action began. I was mad at Niall, because a good luck wasn’t going to fix anything. The boys were mad at me for no reason, I wasn’t the one who broke someone’s heart here, and now, this was the time to get even. The plan that had taken three days to form, but was worth it, I could now get what I wanted.
“And as for Niall, since we are not in speaking terms, I want to get this out. I’m gonna deal with Niall when we get back to London.” The audience goes “Ohhhh” as if I had just burned someone. I laugh and the girls smirk, giving that evil little look to the crowd.
“The boys are mad at me, saying that I messed up, but I wasn’t the one who broke someone’s heart, now was I?” I get more “Ohh’s” from the audience. I finish up my little plan and smile, knowing I accomplished it. We sing a couple of album songs and then Adam comes on stage. Danielle, Rose, and Alyssa start walking off stage, and I was quite confused. Adam smiles at me, taking my hand. “Duet time, eh Rai?” he whispers huskily in my ear. I nod, turning away to blush. I could just imagine Niall steamed right now, very steamed. The rhythm starts playing and Adam starts singing.

I started to sing along right after. This, was probably the best moment of my life, well maybe.

I smiled and hugged Adam. That right there was just a dream come true. Adam walked off stage and I thanked everyone before walking off stage myself. Demi walked up to me and smiled, giving me a big hug. I hugged her back, finally being able to know that we were actually friends now. My phone buzzed on the table that I had set it on, and I pick it up seeing a new message from Niall.
“You can have him for now, but when you get back, you’re going to be all mine.”

I smiled, realizing that was a good thing. Niall wasn’t mad, but the boys still were. Eh, I could live with it. Now I knew that Niall wouldn’t be cheating on me anymore and that I was his only one, yup only one. I placed my phone in my bag and walked towards the front entrance. We were going to be signing autographs for the fans, so I wouldn’t be getting back until later. When I was about halfway there, Adam came out from his dressing room, and saw me. He grabbed my hand and pulled me to him, smirking. “How about tomorrow, it is a date?”
I didn’t know how to react. I had to say no, but Niall technically said I could have him for the year. I couldn’t! I would be committing adultery! I could go out to eat with him, but it absolutely could not be a date.
“I’m sorry Adam, I can go out with you, but it can’t be a date. I don’t want to be the one who’s committing adultery. Plus, paparazzi would get the demo and Niall would find out, and it would be a whole new page of drama. I’m sorry.”
Adam stood there with a sad expression on his face. He nodded, slumping his head down, letting go of my hand and turning, walking into his dressing room. He closed the door behind him, disappearing from sight. I felt bad, I didn’t mean to hurt him, but I couldn’t turn into the one committing adultery and have Niall and the boys even more mad at me. Rose, Danielle, Alyssa, and Demi would probably even be mad at me. I would definitely not want that to happen. I couldn’t just leave Adam upset though. I walked into his dressing room and he was sitting on the couch, scrolling through something on his phone. I sat down next to him and he put his phone down, looking me desperately in the eye.
“I’ll go out with you tomorrow, but I have to tell everyone it’s not a date. I wouldn’t want Niall and the boys getting even madder at me. Simon would be P.O’d and the girls would even be mad at me. Paparazzi will probably make something up, but whatever they say, it isn’t a date. Ok?” He nods and gives me a peck on the cheek. I smile walking out of the room to go for signing.
I sit down at the table and see there is already a long line of girls waiting to have something signed, or even just to say hi. There was at least 200 people, so this was going to take a while. I quickly told the girls, including Demi who was also there to sign that I was going out with Adam tomorrow, but no matter what paparazzi said, it was not going to be a date. They all nodded and we got to work, signing and greeting.
After a long, tiring three hours of signing, we finally get in the limo to go back to the hotel. While on the way back, I text Niall telling him I was going out with Adam tomorrow, but it wasn’t a date. He didn’t text back, though it said it was read. Well, good enough right? I went to twitter telling the fans it was not going to be a date tomorrow.
“Hey fans! Tomorrow, I am going out with Adam, but it is not a date. If paparazzi says it’s a date, don’t believe it. Just letting you know so more drama doesn’t start up. I wouldn’t want One Direction fans or my fans getting mad at me saying I’m the one who was doing adultery. Thanks for understanding!” I tweet it and put my phone away, knowing I had informed everyone I wanted to know. The taxi arrives at the hotel and we run in, rushing to our room to get some sleep. Literally ten seconds after I fell onto the couch, I was out like a light.
I woke up the next morning, no longer on the couch. I was on the floor next to the couch, so I must have fallen out. I get up and go to my room to get some clothes from my suitcase. I change into a nice floral print dress for a casual Chicago day. I smile and do my makeup in the mirror, brushing my hair and putting it in a long high ponytail. I nod satisfied and grab my purse. I check the rooms to see that everyone is still asleep, so I must be the first one up. I giggle and walk out of the suite, heading down to have some breakfast in the food lounge. I get to the lobby and walk down the hall a little ways before reaching the food lounge. I grab a plate and get in the line to get some food. I grab an apple, pancakes, sausage, and eggs, sitting down to eat. The TV was on so I watched the show they had on, not having anything better to do. I hear a ding from my purse, knowing it was my phone. I pull it out and see it’s a text from Simon.

“Good job Rai, mission complete.” I smile to myself. Yup, good job Rai.
