Wishes don't come true
Hate is not that strong of a word.
The glass shattered as it hit the wall behind him. "GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY HOUSE!" He shouted at me and I walked towards the closet, grabbing my suitcase and shoveling clothing item after clothing item into the small space.
"Fine." I said, finally zipping up my suitcase. "I don't need you. I just need me." I let the words settle in and his face contorted into a look of both realization and confusion.
"You're not going anywhere." His voice had shifted and I could hear his anger rumble through his body. I took a step back, a step through the bedroom door and towards the hall. A step in the wrong direction in his mind. "Don't. Walk. Out. The. Door." His voice was a low rumble on the draft coming from the A.C.
My hand reached out to my suitcase and I turned and ran. The door slammed behind him and I jumped the steps, four at a time. Racing out of the house and into my car. I slammed the door shut and locked the door just as he reached my car.
His fist pounded against the thin metal of my red corvette. He came around to my door, and I could hear his yells in jumbled words through my window. I smirked and pulled out in reverse, catching his foot under my tire.
I could hear his yells fill the air as I left our neighborhood. I was free, I could go where ever I wanted. I could do anything.
I was free.
