Out With A Bang
Hundreds of people rushed past me, some carrying microphones, makeup, hair pins, lights... the possibilities are endless. It was the final stop on my world tour, and this is the 'Grand Finale' I suppose you could say. I could hear thousands of fans cheering my name. The anticipation was probably killing them.
I stared at the ceiling as my best friend and makeup artist/stylist, Emilie, was working on the finishing touches of my makeup.
It was pure luck that she was scheduled to be MY stylist, as she sent in applications to many places. But I think my manager, Stacy Westfall, had something to do with it...
Emilie finished putting the eye liner on, and stood there to admire her work. "Beautiful! Simply beautiful!" She exclaimed, nodding her head. She clapped her hands together and was alive with energy once more. "Out of the chair! Out!" She cried at me as another dancer needed makeup. "Go get your clothes on, girl!" She yelled, pointing to the hallway on the other side of the room. I smiled at Emilie, who was trying to be bossy, and I hurried away, careful not to mess up my hair. I looked for the dressing room with my name on it. I was growling in annoyance when I finally found my door, nearly 5 minutes later. I walked into the tiny room and found my outfit hanging up. It was a white T-shirt, indigo leather skinny jeans, and black, 3 inch heel boots.
"3 minutes 'till show time!!!" I heard Stacy yell. I quickly changed out of my robe and into the clothes assigned to me. I ran out, eager to complete my vocal exercises before the concert, but then the music started playing and my name was announced on the loudspeaker.
"And now, ladies and gentlemen, the one you've all been waiting for, REBEKAH SOMERHALDER!!!"
I ran on stage, passing by the band with their instruments, and into the center of the stage. I stood there for a minute, blinded by the bright lights, and deafened by my fans' ear-piercing screams.
"We love you Rebekah!"
"OMG I love you!!!"
"Ahhhhhhh!!!"
"Will you marry me?!?!?!"
When I could finally see again, the music to my hit single, Soldier Heart, started playing and my backup dancers moved to their positions, ready for the big dance number. I started singing and the dancing started. We were moving all around the huge stage, and the crowd went wild. But something was terribly wrong. Wasn't there supposed to be more light? I noticed the two giant lights that were hanging from the ceiling above the crowd start to flicker and swing back and forth.
I immediately stopped singing and froze as all of the lights started to flash, on, off, on, off. The other dancers froze, too, and the band stopped playing in confusion. The fans became quiet and they noticed the problem. It became deathly silent, and everything seemed to move in slow motion, as one of the lights above the crowd flickered out and fell, dropping 2 stories and into the middle of the sea of people. I heard the sickening crunch of bones being crushed, and almost immediately saw people puking in the aisles.
All of the lights went out and we were thrown into pitch blackness.
Everyone was screaming in terror, and I felt stong hands grab me and pull me backstage. I was crying and shaking uncontrollably, as I heard another light fall from the ceiling.
The red emergency lights came on backstage, and I could see that many of the fans were being brought backstage, too.
I was ushered outside, and into my bus. Into safety. Emilie and Stacy reached the bus and sat next to me. We were silent as our bus rolled out of the parking lot and slowly drove us away.
I looked behind us and stared in horror as the New York stadium caught fire, trapping my fans and the rest of my crew inside.
