Philophobia
Chapter Seven
It was nice to listen to the radio, just to get my mind off of things. Thanks to the help of my favourite bands, that is.
So focused on loosing myself in my mind and the road, I forgot the percentage of gas left in the car, and when I heard the thumping I knew I was about to halt. Quickly, I pulled to the side of the road, more than pissed off with myself.
my fists slamming against the wheel, I pushed out from my seat.
I'm only on the outskirts of town.. My phone, of course at home, and the nearest gas station isn't for a couple miles. Great, I thought to myself.
Time for a breather..
It had to of been well over an hour, just wondering. Not exactly caring where I left my car or how to get back, just wondering.
Side roads turned into dirt roads, dirt roads turned into side roads, side roads turned into trails, and the trails soon turned into a long narrow driveway.
I was in awe by the time I reached the finish of the never ending driveway. The abandoned old victorian styled home had it's fair share of shattered glass and slowly escaping shingles on the roof, but somehow still managed to contain most of it's earlier days of beauty.
Curiosity is what grabbed the best of me, making me enter the once was a home.
I had to admit; it was creepy. The years of collected dust and dirt, broken lamps and what looked like a sofa brought in only a while ago.. Someone lived here?
Continuing to investigate, I searched. The kitchen's pumps surprisingly working with little pressure, and the death looking stove still attached to the peeling wall papered wall.
I wasn't willing to flick a switch for light, not nearly that curious. Luckily the natural light from outside shone through the windows, allowing me to get a glimpse of everything in each room.
A wide staircase centred in the middle of the wall in the, what looks to be the living room. It almost looked palace like, with the help of the old fireplace.
What caught me off guard was the fresh ashes and few left over logs inside of it. Someone was here...
Immediately, the creaking in the house became far more creepy, with the feeling of being watched. I felt my insides burn with my heart rate increasing each second passing. I needed to get out of here, now.
My feet rushed me to the front door, trying to pry it open. After a few jolts and shakes, it clicked open and swung open with the increasing wind outside.
I kept my eyes on my feet, scared to look up. All too soon to realize I had hit my head and fallen to my butt. "Ow!" I gasped in surprise.
"What the hell are you doing here?" The familiar voice raged.
I glanced towards the voice, not expecting it to the least. Thinking I had hid a wall.
His emerald orbs burned into mine, scaring the life out of me. His frame tall and tough, not fazed by my shove at all.
"I - I don't know.."
