Stole My Heart
01
I threw my head back and laughed as my best friend Lucy made a fool of herself in front of the stage. She winked at me and continued to dance like a loon, and I soon had no choice but to follow suit. When I glanced up, I noticed one of the boys staring at us, a hand extended. I looked at her, my expression of shock mirrored on her face. I accepted the extended hand and we climbed on stage to continue dancing and singing with the boys. I couldn’t believe this was happening.
I jolted awake. Damn. I looked at my clock, 9pm. I sighed as I got out of bed and readied for work. I worked in a ritzy club that all of England’s A-listers attended. I was a bar-tender. As a twenty year old, some people looked down their noses at me, but I just shrugged it off. I made very good money and enjoyed my job so I didn’t allow their disdain for me to deter me at all.
I dressed slowly, not wanting the remnants of my dream to fade. I closed my eyes and a small smile played around my lips. They flew open as my phone rang in my silent bedroom. I checked the ID and answered.
“Hey Lucy, I’m on my way,” I lied into the phone as I started my makeup.
“Good, I’ve been standing outside your flat for fifteen minutes Darcy.”
I sighed. “You better come in then, I’m not even close to being ready,” I
confessed. She sighed into the phone, and I heard my front door open and shut.
“I’m upstairs Luce!” I shouted, smudging my black eye liner. I loved making my eyes look smoky and dark. I tended to use purple to play up my chocolate brown eyes. A swish of burgundy lipstick completed my look. My door opened just as I was spritzing on some perfume. I looked at Lucy’s outfit as she stood in my doorway. She looked damn sexy to say the least.
“Damn Lucy. Dressed to the nines tonight are we?” I asked teasingly as I teased my hair a bit more. She laughed.
“You look pretty sexy yourself,” she replied looking at my outfit. I smiled at her and grabbed my purse, indicated I was ready to go. I glanced at the clock. 10:00pm. I flicked off the lights in my apartment as we headed out.
